About
Even when we try not to, we still subconsciously projects our lame feelings through our mediocre fiction so let’s just drop the act right here right now;
Let me get personal! Like, really personal, let me embarrass myself right in front of you;
Breaking 4th wall in VNs is so olde - like, everybody’ve already made their own DDLC and everybody knows DDLC didn’t even invent the idea.
Hey, I am somewhat interesting, right? I get self-deprecating, so I’m fun and smart, right? I’m artsy and trendy, right? My drawings are pretty, right? I’m a hidden diamond, right?~
So you’d totally sacrifice me some of your time, right? So you’d lend your hands, right? I mean, you’d write something for me, right? Hey, maybe I can borrow your back for a moment? Hey, how about this, maybe I can have your legs, mine are so tired?
This whole yandere thing is sooo cringe, I know, but I don’t mean it in a literal way, so it’s fine, right?
Ugh, really, you can handle listening to someone’s personal baggage for so long just cause they participated in yurijam twice or something? Gross... Guess you don’t have a heart, huh?
Ah, but as I said before — give yourself to me, (I don’t really need you to, of course) and maybe I’d offer you my heart instead? How does this sound? (Hey, lmao, do you enjoy it when people speak to you in questions instead of normal statements?)
Why would I ever do such a thing? But why, of course, because I’m a greedy Archfey; I don’t need my heart anyway, it’s such a pain…
You know what, I changed my mind, don’t bother. I don’t need your arms and your legs and your head, just give them to my Guardians or Priestesses or whatever they call themselves nowadays. Please them, and then maybe, just maybe, I’d recall my offer next time we meet.
If you really are so heartless you can download this .zip or .rar or app or whatever it was archived as
It’s very straightforward and approximately 5k words short and has slightly different offering outcomes but they all lead to the same one ending; couple of dead-ends are present in case you mess up
And by the way, this whole thing was made by mossinasi who used Ren'Py engine and PeriTune's music
st34m moderators believe that this description wasn't sufficient enough, so, let's try again.
"optimal conditions for a sacrifice" is a short (5k words) girls love visual novel;
It features only a single linear route and one romanceable character, but there is an simple repeating puzzle you have to solve to get to the "true ending".
It is LGBTQ+ dark comedy fairytale

A really interesting little VN with some gorgeous art. Optimal conditions for a sacrifice is a bit hard to describe, since it's a very dream-like story which doesn't really adhere to standard narrative conventions. The story is about 'you', the sacrifice, attempting to win the archfey's heart. To successfully win her heart, you need to sacrifice parts of your body to three beautiful women who live in the forest (and you need to give each woman the right body part), before the archfey will take any interest in you. The archefey is fickle, however, and it may take a while before she'll deign to speak you. This VN doesn't really have characters in the standard sense. You only get short scenes with each forest dweller, and your interactions with them are pretty limited to them asking for parts of your body and you being able to say yes or no. One of the forest dwellers constantly asks you questions, and another only talks in fish metaphors. The only character who has any real 'characterisation' is the archfay, but most of her dialoge is just musings about the nature of love, what it means to be loved, if there exists a love which can last forever... etc, etc. This VN itself isn't really a story, either: it mostly seems to exist, like the archfay, to ponder the nature of love, and even its own purpose for existing (there's a part in the game where one character straight up asks you "so, what do you think the point of this game is?"). If you want a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end, and some well-defined characters, this really isn't the VN for you. I don't think this is a bad thing, however, as it's not trying to tell a conventional narative. This is a short, thought-provoking work which reads more like the writer's musings on romance and relationships than anything concrete, but I like it a lot regardless; for such a short game, there's a lot to dig your teeth into, and the presentation is gorgeous. The artwork makes this well worth the price tag, imo, despite the runtime being short (I can't imagine anybody spending more than 30 minutes on this). This might be the sort of VN which would be good to stream, since it's short while being engaging. It asks a lot from the reader (especially the naga, whose scenes have a lot of choices in them), so it would provoke some interesting discussion if any Twitch streamers or YouTubers wanted to poke around at it. It's the sort of story you can read with a larger audience, or with a friend, since it's trying to create a dialogue with the reader. It's a very unique experience as far as VNs go, and I would easily recommend it. I hope more people will find out about this gem of a game and give it a look!
Very earnest and personal love letter yuri. It feels like it wasn't meant for my eyes, but I was very happy to be an observer. Resonated with me a lot. Lovely read and great art, worth a few bucks (:
This truly is a lesbian dark comedy fairytale, and I loved it I love it so much EDIT: Achievements were added after I finished it, so I read it again today but this time I also went for the "bad" endings and I have to say... this is a magnificent little VN

This game is funny, silly and sometimes feels quite profound! The art is a highlight. Soooo gorgeous, and as an artist myself I was impressed by the composition of the artworks and how they fit with the UI. The layout of the VN felt very fresh. The music is really nice too - if it's not on YouTube/Spotify or available for purchase yet, I'd like it to be! While I would have liked a little more content for the price, this game is really memorable and I'm sure it will stick with me. The ending made me giggle and it felt very relatable to a version of me from a few years ago when I was too scared to open my heart and truly love someone 😅 Oh, and it works perfectly on Steam Deck (as do most renpy VNs that I have tried.) Make sure to map one of your buttons to 'H' so that you can hide the UI and look at the pretty art some more :D
If I'm being honest I didn't really enjoy this. It's cheap enough though, so there's that. For a positive, the art is fantastic. It's a very nice style with a very good use of colors. For the negative, the writing. It feels like I just read a bizarre ad lib from a tumblr millennial or zoomer girl. The writing is just, ok at best, and sort of just reads like a girl venting about her lesbian exes being overly needy and confusing. It also gets far, far too meta, which took me straight out of the experience. I don't need to have naga in an enchanted forest talk about google documents, or a mermaid mention social media. It's just weird. To be fair the store page description partly insinuates the game would have that sort of thing so... I'm not sure what I expected. I wouldn't go as far as to call it 'pretentious', which the game actually gives you the option to do, but it certainly felt like I was just reading a bunch of "I'm fourteen and this is deep" from some high school aged kid's notebook or something. I feel like I'm being a bit brutal on the writing so let me restate again, in case the dev reads this, your art is honestly fantastic. You have a real talent there.
A sweet and short game and a sweet and short review. I hope everyone reading this finds love that is sweet and bitter and the emotions that make you human.
You are a worthy sacrifice, but even more of a worthy human being. Keep going. I wish you well.
I LUV THIS GAME RAAAAAAAA I heart yuri and the script is so well written :3 my favs are the archfey, sacrifice and naga ou.... ANYWAYS YURI FOREVAA RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
