If you like a game that puts you right into the action, constantly challenges you and keeps you hooked level after level this is the game for you
I'm loving the visual aesthetics and the gameplay. I meant to only play through a level or two to get a feel for it, only to find that the ease and speed that I could retry on death managed to motivate me to play until I was halfway through stage 7 and running late IRL. Will play again, and can recommend it to others. Shoutout to hotcyder on YouTube for pointing me in this game's direction.
I bought this feeling that it may scratch a Tempest itch, but I was wrong. The game starts out real slow, but then it speeds up as you make it through the rings, and that begins what completely killed the fun for me. My ship, no matter how many rings I go through is far slower than the enemies, and has no defenses. On top of moving slower than the enemies, my gun sucks... I don't feel I made it very far, but very quickly realized the only thing passing me through the levels is pure RNG. There is no "skill" or expertise to it, and soon, instead of having a good time, I just felt like I was wasting my time. Perhaps there is a mechanic of the game I'm missing... Maybe they've updated Tempest somewhere else, or I'll just load up the old game. Not going to refund, I got it for practically nothing. Your experience may differ.
I've always loved Operius so when i saw this i HAD to buy it. I've only been playing it for like just under an hour but zoowee mama this is good. It's like the old game but 100x better, i really really like it. I also tried playing it on controller and it was even better with the shake thingymajig for stuff Overall really good game would definitely recommend.
This is a really fun and addictive game! Pretty challenging too, at the time of this writing I haven't beaten Classic Mode but played a good amount of it. If I have one potential criticism it's that sometimes enemies would hit me before I felt like I had time to react, though maybe that's just a skill issue on my part lol But yeah, overall a very good game, I'd definitely recommend getting it especially since it's only $5
PLAYER 1 OUT! After the cancellation of Spectral Escape (very sad!) this is Mors Man's debut game on Steam, published now under the game studio Distant Illusions. And what a game it is! Operius DX is the definitve edition of the free browser game Operius. There are many tunnel dodge games for the lack of a better term, but this is definitely one of the better ones. After all, you don't just become Opera's flagship browser game and spawn a whole array of fangames if your game didn't stand out from the crowd. This game really gets you in the zone. With it's very trance-like aesthetics and soundtrack this game really pulls you in, and you will keep going, even if you die over and over, because the gameplay is really addictive. Compared to the free version, there are tons of unlockables to collect here, ranging from themes to ships to new game modes. And it's all pretty good stuff. The game is not perfect, but no game really is. Sometimes things can get a little busy on screen, and due to the procgen nature of the game sometimes you might just have to miss one of those level up rings because enemies are spawning right in front of it. It's pretty minor nitpicking all things considered, and doesn't really impact your enjoyment of the game. Distant Illusions created a really fun package here, and for the low price point I definitely recommend it. Support the developers, they have more things in the oven and I'm sure they will deliver.
Pretty fun arcade shooter.
a fast and straight forward game.
Game reminds me of Rez, Thumper, Tempest 2000 and starfox wrapped in an arcade form factor. Easy to pick up! would recommend!
