Really great game! Got it on Steam while it was free, great choice. Don't pay for a free game though,
Absolutely disgusting practice of Atari, a dead company that has no right or reason to take a nearly 30 year old game and place a price on a FREE OPEN SOURCE GAME in order to require purchasing their remake of TTD, which has no reason to exist other than absolute greed because they couldn't create anything actually tangible within the last several decades. Just go to the open TTD website and download the game for free there.

dont buy it on steam when you can get it for free
**Atari is charging you for access to an open-source game.** OpenTTD is an open-source project, released under the GPL, and has been developed independently by a community for decades. It is not some brand-new Atari product that Atari spent years developing and deserves to sell for £10. Yet Atari has now turned the Steam distribution of OpenTTD into a sales opportunity for itself. Previously, you could simply download OpenTTD on Steam for free. Now, new Steam users have to purchase the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe alongside it for $9.99 just to obtain OpenTTD through Steam. The OpenTTD developers themselves confirm that the game remains free and can still be downloaded directly from their website. And this is the part that really leaves a bad taste. Atari didn't create OpenTTD. The OpenTTD project is independently developed and remains open source. Atari owns the rights to the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe, but that does not magically make OpenTTD an Atari-developed commercial product. This feels like **monetising the success of a community project simply because Atari owns the underlying IP.** Want OpenTTD on Steam? Pay Atari. Want the convenience of Steam's automatic updates, library integration and Workshop ecosystem? Pay Atari. Want to play a game that is literally available for free from its own developers? Apparently you now need to buy Atari's product first. The OpenTTD developers have explained that they agreed to this arrangement and that Atari is contributing toward OpenTTD's server costs. That's fair enough, and I have no criticism of the OpenTTD developers for trying to reach a compromise. **But Atari deserves criticism for turning a free, open-source community project into a funnel for selling its 1995 game.** If I want Transport Tycoon Deluxe, I'll buy Transport Tycoon Deluxe. If I want OpenTTD, I should be able to get OpenTTD. Don't pretend these are the same thing. **Negative review.** OpenTTD itself is excellent. Atari's decision to put a paywall around its Steam distribution is not.

Amazing game for making a transit Atari ruined the games fun since its nolonger free cause they wanted more money
Videogames.. Videogame. Openttd is one of those. It released an a idea of a videogame that kept going. It kept up with the times, and was updated till today. Today is when I think openttd became more of a videogame tan it ever has been. I really like it. You get this videogame for free as well? How! I think this game too easy sometimes though.. Hm! Maybe there is many challenges to play? Oh.. Yes. Yes. You can also modify the game it would appear. Hm! You can make North Korean railline sim.. I like! As well as kazakhstan horse line carriageway. Did I mention it isnt only train but buck and boat? Yep. It's a total understanding of transport from a futurist lense with a accumulation of humanity as a whole creating transport. even plane.. Plane transport with train and all in same simulacrum. I give thi sgame. A good amount. I love it. Sometimes I dream about it.. It is tough to learn sometimes, you must find understanding.. You must be determined and tenacious. But .. Choo Choo. Sometimes. Begin with buts. Palne? Maybe.. Distance. = Money. Hmm.. Money..
Pretty fun and addictive transport game, Unfortunate what's happened with Atari, but you can still get the game for free from the actual site
First of all; this is a fantastic game, no doubt. But DON'T purchase it from here, rather download it for FREE on the OPENTTD website. I really don't understand the greed of a company making people have to pay for an OPEN SOURCE game based on transport tycoon deluxe. Completely ridiculous.
