A game that looks simple and fun. Sadly it only checked one of those boxes.
Забавная двухмерная стратежка на менеджмент ресурсов и уничтожение соседней деревни. Не хватает мультиплеера. https://youtu.be/rOEXM0G5i14
Definitely a pleasant game, lots of content and definitely lots of strategies to employ. Although I will state that the difficulty "Spikes" out of nowhere, doesn't matter what difficulty you're playing on the missions go from being decent to get whooped "enemies invade in 3min" in that time you have to build a whole town and gather units and a defense and it's honestly complicated and unreasonable. --> If not for the ridiculous moments where the enemy invades where you have very little prep time this would be a fantastic game for what it is, however that is just annoying! It's still a wonderful game but this makes it very annoying <--
I love this game! gameplay and art style. Please keep on making content for it. Would even love to see a part 2 Greetings!

A worse version of age of war on addicting games
Open The Gates! is a medieval real-time strategy game developed and published by Robin van der Horst that presents a creative spin on the castle-building formula by shifting the action into a side-scrolling perspective. Instead of simply imitating genre classics, it builds its own identity through a combination of settlement management, defensive planning, and tactical warfare. The story follows a fractured empire after the emperor's authority has collapsed, placing players in charge of reclaiming the realm one stronghold at a time. While the narrative mainly serves as a framework for the campaign, it successfully motivates the steady introduction of new mechanics, enemy factions, and increasingly demanding objectives. The heart of the experience lies in constructing a prosperous fortress capable of withstanding constant attacks. Every settlement begins with gathering essential resources such as wood, stone, food, and gold before expanding into a thriving military stronghold. Villagers must be assigned efficiently, production chains need to remain balanced, and every new building contributes to the long-term survival of the kingdom. As enemy armies grow stronger, players are encouraged to reinforce their defenses with sturdy walls, towers, siege equipment, and specialized military units. The gradual progression ensures that each mission introduces fresh challenges without overwhelming newcomers, making the learning curve feel rewarding rather than frustrating. One of the game's most distinctive ideas is its use of hot air balloons, which add an unexpected layer of mobility and strategy. Rather than serving as decorative features, they allow soldiers to travel across floating terrain, support assaults from above, or transport valuable forces to difficult locations. This mechanic gives battles a unique vertical dimension that separates Open The Gates! from more conventional strategy games. Combined with varied troop types and siege weapons, combat rewards careful planning instead of reckless aggression, making every successful offensive or defensive operation feel satisfying. The campaign features more than two dozen handcrafted missions spread across six different regions, each introducing unique environmental conditions and enemies. From peaceful medieval landscapes to hazardous volcanic territories filled with fire and supernatural threats, the changing settings help keep the adventure engaging throughout its duration. Standalone siege scenarios further expand the content by offering additional tactical challenges outside the main story. Adjustable difficulty settings also make the game welcoming for newcomers while providing experienced strategy players with encounters that demand thoughtful resource management and efficient battlefield decisions. Artistically, Open The Gates! embraces a colorful hand-painted visual style that gives every environment plenty of personality. Character animations, castle construction, and large-scale sieges are presented with enough detail to make each battle enjoyable to watch. Voice acting adds charm to the campaign's cast, while the soundtrack effectively shifts between peaceful construction themes and energetic battle music as conflicts escalate. Although the presentation does not pursue realism, its stylized approach creates a timeless appearance that complements the medieval fantasy atmosphere remarkably well. The game is not entirely without flaws. Players looking for open-ended sandbox play or competitive multiplayer may find the experience somewhat limited, as the focus remains firmly on its structured campaign and challenge scenarios. Some later missions can become fairly demanding, requiring multiple attempts to perfect defensive layouts and resource production. However, these moments rarely feel unfair, instead encouraging players to refine their strategies and make better use of the game's mechanics. Overall, Open The Gates! delivers an enjoyable blend of city building, resource management, and tactical warfare while offering enough originality to distinguish itself from other medieval strategy games. Its inventive side-scrolling perspective, memorable balloon mechanics, satisfying fortress construction, and steadily evolving campaign create an experience that remains engaging from beginning to end. Although it lacks some of the broader features found in larger strategy titles, its focused design and polished gameplay make it an easy recommendation for fans of castle-building and real-time strategy games. No inicio é legal por isso vou recomendar, mas na metade do game vc ja esta enjogado dele. Compre apenas em promoção.
Game kinda barebone . Difficulty isnt scaling with campaign. On top of that adding or removing new building kind troublesome .
