Redshift Blueshift is a tournament-ready pong-like 2D shooter in which two pilots fight for glory in their variable paddle ships! Power up your shields, unleash a horde of drones and homing missiles on your opponent and keep the hyper-ball in play! Supports local multiplayer and single player vs AI. Gamepad strongly recommended.

Tags: Combat Arena & Smashbroesque Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Core appeal of couch playing did not translate in a very fun game. Solo AI was brutal even on easy, never skipping a beat. Only an endless mode. Repetitive and mechanically too simple to really hold attention. Presented like a vertical space shooter, behaves like a breakbreak. You can position your "ship" left and right to shoot at the occasional bonus crate. Which can contain a variety of mostly useless modifiers (shield, throw little torpedo somewhere near the other player). Meanwhile once the ball bounces the screen shifts color, the ball shifts color, bounces around whichever screen edges it encounters and makes its way back to the player. The AI does not do very difficult shots but sooner or later you will overshoot or undershoot, mostly due to distraction by the visuals, which are present even at camera shake off. Otherwise you might get sidetracked by trying to snowball the pointless bonuses or you might just have misjudged how this game handles momentum and physics. Either way lives can grind fairly fast, perhaps for other players it is possible to snowball this and do a very long streak, but I cannot imagine that it can really be much more engaging to do so. What remains is the couch co-op and while the arcade feell, the ease of Xbox360 pad support, the dash of anime art direction and the immediate appeal of combining brickbreak and vertical shooter, the game is too thin on content, and ultimately too narrow to really warrant spending much time in. Inevitably one of the two players will likely emerge has having a higher skill ceiling and the games will mostly always play out the same. There is not a lot of variety in mechanics, or other factors to serve as equalizers. Perhaps look at what a competitor has to offer if the concept is still intriguing however. https://store.steampowered.com/app/553310/Lethal_League_Blaze/
I recommend the game if you want more variety for couch multiplayer gaming, but this doesn't offer a whole lot for single player gaming. So do not buy if its just for you, do buy for the couch gaming aspect. I wouldn't buy it at the $9 price tag either, it really doesn't offer a whole lot. Cheers!
Wirkt wie ein modifizierter Pong-Klon. Etwas hektisch, Grafisch allerdings ziemlich einfach gehalten.
