One Night: Burlesque was an interesting but short visual novel with 3 endings. I enjoyed the story and mentally analyzing everything since I knew I was looking for a killer. The first play took me about an hour and a half and that included using telepathy every chance. Play time may vary for individual reading speed of course. When it came time for the big decision I didn't find it hard to determine the killer. The art style is what drew me to it and that did not disappoint. I loved that each character had a colored accessory that matched to their dialogue boxes. I really would love to see more of this artwork and hope that RedDeer.Games provides them in Point Shop backgrounds when the game reaches the required Steam metrics. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3074864129 Equally interesting was the different mechanics in the game play. I did not expect as much interaction. In addition to clicking through standard dialogue choices you will use your mouse and sometimes keyboard for various tasks. Such as taking medicine, making drinks, and reading minds. While the interactivity was interesting, in some cases I found it to be distracting. There's a scene early on where you have a circle sliding back and fourth and you have to press Spacebar at the center point to progress while the scene changes each press. The first playthrough having such a mechanic I was thinking time must matter so it seemed an odd place to put such a mechanic where one would like to read the text and see the visual changes. The only real complaint I have is no skip, saves or chapter select but there is a Continue. Going through the second time picking different choices did not really provide much of a difference or change the path of the story until the end choice. As such I don't really feel compelled to play a third time for the other ending. If I could have saved before the choice that would have been a great way to see them all. For achievement hunters & completionist, you will need a second play due to the choices made. At the end of my first playthrough I was missing 5 and 4 regarded picking opposite choices. Such as getting the killer right and getting it wrong. There is a continue option so probably a save file that would allow for save scumming if you so wished. tl;dr Over all this was a lovely short visual novel and I enjoyed that it offered something a little different. Did I mention how beautiful the artwork was? I would recommend One Night: Burlesque to fans of the aesthetics and visual novels. Or, those hunters who gun for easy perfects. When it meets the Steam metric of course.
I will watch you play I come here every night It's just me, the bartender, the waitress and the lights Shining on you not getting it right We clap not for you but for your kind The Dresden Dolls – A Night at the Roses (й далі)
A ring around the roses Everybody poses Threats and then backs down The second you put clothes on
One Night: Burlesque is a choose your own adventure game in a noir setting. Players will play as Holly Whispers, a burlesque performer who in the beginning of the game has a vision of her friend/co-worker/roommate Lisbeth (Liz) being murdered in front of the stage. This vision has led Holly to question the guests in the burlesque club. Throughout the game, players will be making drinks for the guests, going through a series of conversations with them, and reading their minds to figure it out which one of them wants to kill Liz. There are no puzzles in this game, players will use logical deduction to figure out who the killer is and potentially prevent them from killing Liz. As expected from interactive narrative games to have different endings, this game features three possible endings. The controls for this game are very minimal. For the most part, players will be using just a mouse to make drinks for the guests, and to interact with the texts given. However, there are two instances where players will be required to use the keyboard. The first instance is when they are mind reading the guests, this requires players to use the up, down, left, and right key from the keyboard; the second instance is when Holly is feeling anxious for using too much of her power - players are taken in to a mini game where they have to tap the spacebar a few times, so that Holly can take her medication. One Night: Burlesque features a variety of sounds; it has ASMR, ominous sound effects, and a good section of jazz music. I found the combination to be fitting for this game. The sounds reflect the texts; as players read through some of the tense parts of the texts, they will hear different sounds being triggered. The graphics of this game are beautiful. The noir style environment is on point, it made me feel like I was back in an era that I have not experienced in real life. What I liked: I liked that the developers put in the effort to add color coded text boxes that matches a unique colorful feature from each of the character. This helps distinguish which character is talking in the texts, which makes it easy to follow the story. I also liked the combination of jazz music and the noir graphics, which made me feel like I traveled back into the 1940s to experience the suspenseful/detective vibes. The change of sounds during tense parts of the texts was also great, as I could sense the mood changing. Additionally, I appreciate the alternative endings because it adds replay value for this game. It also has adequate time for a game of this genre - it takes approximately two and a half hours to complete one play through. What I disliked: I did not like that this game has no back button option, or chapter select; players will have to replay the whole game if they accidentally clicked the arrow button for the next texts, instead of clicking to mind read the guests. There also are no tutorials or tips, which may cause some confusion here and there. Overall, I think One Night: Burlesque is a good choose your own adventure. It offers a reasonable amount of play through for this genre, and the story is very easy to follow. I would recommend this game mostly for a mature audience, because it features mature content such as drugs, alcohol, and foul language that may not be suitable for children.
What if you've only had ONE NIGHT?
Take cigarette smoke, cold drinks, beautiful women losing themselves in a dance to hypnotic music, top it all off with a thick neo-noir atmosphere and you've got One Night: Burlesque.
Gameplay
Holly and her friend Liz are dancers in a burlesque club. Holly has the gift of reading minds and Liz is a would-be murder victim. Holly has just one night to find the killer and we have to help her do it. To be honest, there is not much to say about the gameplay, because in a mechanical sense it is a standard visual novel, where you need to read the text, choose the answer and sometimes play minigames to advance the plot. There are only two minigames: - Mind Reading - Making Drinks Mind-reading is done by using the arrow keys to attune yourself to the desired wavelength. Making drinks requires a couple of mouse clicks. This isn't Va-11 Hall-A after all. And that's pretty much it. Look at the pictures and read the text. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082878186
Visuals
What this game is to be praised for is its visual style. Incredibly beautiful drawings and effects that create a gorgeous neo-noir atmosphere. Each character reflects their personality even by appearance. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082878106
Audio
Music also leaves pleasant impression only. Tomorous melodies not once made me feel the atmosphere and the desire to sit at the table with a drink in my hand and admire the girls. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3082878243
Thoughts
I really enjoyed this beautiful visual novel. Yes, the game is pretty short. Yes, the characters are one-dimensional. Still, it's a very enjoyable experience. There is one negative point worth mentioning here. The game has quite a few moments with flashing lights that 100% can cause an epileptic seizure. I hope the developer will add a warning at the start of the game.
Conclusion
Despite the short length of 1-1,5 hours, this visual novel manages to tell the story of one night and show some intriguing moments. Beautiful art style, interesting characters, mostly nice music except for 2 parts and with an enjoyable story. One Night Burlesque is a short noir detective game which scored points with me for its aesthetics and atmosphere, I certainly enjoyed it. Nevertheless, there are a few things that need to be criticized. Outside of a sale I find the price a bit too much due to the very short game time, but I got it for €0.76, which is almost free. Unfortunately, it contains some unsightly grammatical/spelling mistakes, as well as partly very bad wording and the background music is sometimes a little too quiet, which takes away of the atmosphere. Could be very boring for some gamers, mini games are a bit lame and shallow. Still think it's worth a play, I will even play it a few more times now and see if other decisions lead to other effects. Edit (03/10/2025) Well and without spoiling anything, it doesn't really matter which answer is chosen or how you behave, in the end it only matters whether you guess the culprit or not. This was a bit disappointing to be honest, but again if you're looking for a short and easy visual novel game then ONB is just fine if picked up during a sale. I also let a visiting musician play the game today and she said it was okay, but would never pay 12/13 dineros for it.

Thank you!
One Night: Burlesque - A Theatrical Mystery with Unforgettable Atmosphere If you love interactive mysteries with a distinct personality, One Night: Burlesque is a must-play. This choice-based adventure draws you in with its sharp writing, engaging mini-games, and multiple endings, but what truly sets it apart is its unmistakable theatrical flair. The game’s burlesque-inspired atmosphere is rich with drama, style, and intrigue, making every scene feel like a performance unfolding before your eyes. The soundtrack perfectly complements this, enhancing the mood and pulling you deeper into its world. Though relatively short, the experience is immersive from start to finish-every choice matters, and the tension never fades. Another great bonus? One Night: Burlesque runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck, making it a perfect pick for handheld play. If you're looking for a game that feels like stepping into a lavish, mysterious stage play, One Night: Burlesque is an excellent choice.
One Night: Burlesque is a solid detective noir tale with an excellent art style. Every choice in the game is an illusion and that includes big thematic decisions like identifying the correct suspect or deciding whether to use the main character’s psychic abilities or not. However, the game does everything else well enough that I am not too hung up on that.
Smooth, magnetic noir vibe.
I really enjoyed playing through this short story about a premonition of murder. The budget is low, the playtime is brief, and the English translation suffers a bit; but the art is attractive, the characters are sympathetic, and the story and writing kept me hooked for the full 90 minutes. I think that covers it. $13 seems like a lot to pay for such a quick visual novel but it goes on deep sale frequently. I got it for around $2 and it took me an hour and a half to complete. For such a small investment of money and time this is well worth it.
