So, if your just playing for the T+A, it's pretty good. The animations much improved from the previous two games. Unfortunately, the card game in question was not very enjoyable. It felt un-intuitive to play, and it was a grind to win a game. And since winning is the only way to get money for card upgrades, you sometimes get stuck and the game/story comes to a halt. Another problem is the card-upgrade itself. Each upgrade is individual, meaning you can only use 1 upgrade on one card at a time. But another problem is that, if you want to change the upgrade or move it to a different card, you have to pay money to reset the card. So, if you regret an upgrade or want to give a card a better upgrade, you gotta pay for that, too. It wastes what little money you have, and makes you less inclined to use the upgrades in case you regret it later. I think, if this were to be improved, it would be nice to have some kind of passive way to make money (like there is in the other games). And removing the cost to reset cards, which would encourage experimenting with the upgrades you buy. On the visual novel side, the only thing I wished was that there was more to explore or do in the town. There's a lot you could do with a wild west theme, but there's not really much to do in the setting aside from clicking on some wall decorations. In the end, I gave up and just used the cheats to get through the card game sections. When I didn't have to grind my way through it, the visual novel aspect was more enjoyable. I want to like this game since I enjoyed the previous two games well enough, but the titular card game itself is just not that good or enjoyable to play. I hope this card game doesn't come back in the next sequel.
It's a bit underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, the H scenes were pretty good, and the character development was fun, but it has about half the content I expected. It just needs more; More scenes, more plot, more characters, more everything. There is too much focus on the 'Card Battles,' which were OK, but that's not what you look for in a NSFW game. Sorry OPT, but you missed the mark on this one. I'm gonna go re-play your other games instead.
I don't fully understand the mechanics. I'm not sure every detail was explained, like how melee guys don't move up and attack if the guy in front of them dies on that turn before they go, even though the skull preview displays as though they would. Intricacies like this are very important in these kinds of games. Maybe it was explained, but I can't check, since the tutorial button in the menu is grayed out and does nothing. I don't want to use the "always win" option. I am here to play the game. i play a lot of card games, but I can't improve if I can't learn the rules. Also, it makes no sense to me that even in the first fights, I can't reslot my items to try things out. I feel like there is a fun game here, but I don't feel like I have a real opportunity to actually get into it at all. If these things are addressed, I will absolutely try this game again, but right now I feel hard stuck. Probably I could do better and win the third Daisy fight, but I'm not interested in trying until the mechanics are explained better.
Poorly balanced and weirdly difficult... and you can't just grind the games... you only get so many games as part of the story... so if you are at a difficult fight your team isn't setup to win, you are screwed... there is no way to make money to improve your cards outside of battles... and you can't even move items between characters because it also costs money... Without a rework allowing you to grind lower level games to improve gear... and the ability to reset gear for free... this game sucks.
Review of full release version (I did not play early access): I recommend it for people who are fans of both the OPT games and turn-based games. Otherwise, I would wait for a sale. Just like OPT 1 and 2, it is fairly short, but the art is gorgeous, the characters are interesting, and the humor is on point. The biggest difference to the OPT games is the addition of the card game. Or perhaps exchanging boring drone missions for a card game. I like turn-based games, and I must say the system is very well done. The mechanics are simple yet clever, and the constant flow of new cards kept me engaged. Some of the battles were so challenging I had to replay with a different deck. I can imagine casual gamers struggling with the card battles midgame and being forced to use cheats (as there is no way to grind for money, level, or powerful cards). It kinda felt like there is only one difficulity level, hard (pun intended?). The artstyle keeps evolving drastically in these game series. It's simply gorgeous. Even though the story and characters are different from the previous games, there were plenty references, a clear connection to the story of OPT, even a guest appearance of one of the cast. I love how everything is tied to the same universe, and we finally can speak with Tess who was referenced in the OPT games. The choice of having a minotaur as MC is...questioning, but his bulky appearance and stoic personality fitted the story. I prefer the invisible OPT MC though. The story is linear, perhaps even slightly more than OPT, but I like how small choices throughout the game affect the ending, and unlike OPT, there are multiple endings here. Although, I was able to get all endings if I reloaded the endgame quite easily, so do not expect to do multiple playthroughs to get them all. And finally, the naughty scenes. The variety and quantity are very similar to OPT 2. But with even more detailed art. There are no princesses to corrupt this time, but there is one character that...well...the whole interaction with her reminded me very much of a classic princess corruption. The only thing I dislike is how each new OPT game takes me less time to finish. The second one was shorter than the first, and this one is slightly shorter than the second (according to my playtime anyway). Can't wait for OPT 3 though.
I'm a fan of OPT Studio, and thoroughly enjoyed their previous two titular games. This one? It can jump off a bridge. The card 'game' mechanics are dumb, not well explained, and the random ass cards that your challengers have are both stupidly overpowered and reminiscent of old games like Myst where the player has to guess at the developers twisted mind to try to figure out how to advance. You must have the correct 'strategy' (hard to have when the mechanics are so limited) to win, but there are only two people you can challenge early on. I don't *WANT* to cheat to see the game, so I think that leaves me with requesting a refund. Sorry OTP - I love your other games, but this one is just *BAD*. See Ya'll for OPT 3.
Balance is trash. Feel like the devs only care about their patreon version of this game. I got giant white boxes around every unit after the update. I will not start a new game again for this bad card game with porn. I wish devs would just put a unlock all ability in the menu and call it a day.
There is nothing especially WRONG with P&C, It's just not in the same league with OPT 1 & 2. P&C was marketed as OPT 3, which was disappointing. I'm glad to see that a true OPT 3 is in the works. P&C is a promise that fell short, a good idea that didn't pan out. Buying it isn't quite a waste of money, just don't expect it to measure up to OPT 1 & 2.
Got through about an hour of the gameplay, after that, game just kept crashing in the same exact spot constantly. I've tried to ask for help but nobody else seems to have the problem. Despite the game looking enjoyable, I simply cannot recommend a game that doesn't even work.
So far this game is ok, however some of the card battles are improbable to beat as you can only upgrade your cards to a certain point. The card mechanics are weak, as most of the cards only have a weakness to mage cards which are very few and the ones available have no attack strength. There really should be a way to modify the difficulty level
