UPDATE: The most immediate and welcome change is the removal of stamina constraints during platforming—no longer are you penalized for hanging on ledges too long, and fall damage is a thing of the past. Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends in a game plagued by poor design decisions. Combat is a bland, button-mashing ordeal. You can chain a basic combo by hammering a single button, but with no enemy health bars, it’s impossible to see how much damage you cause during fights. Special powers do appear later in the game, but they rely on a separate energy bar. Defensively, you’re given a roll mechanic that can thankfully be executed even mid-attack, making it your only reliable means of survival. A parry system also exists, but it's useless; enemy attacks come too quickly and without any visual tells, making proper timing a guessing game. The only real strategy is to roll through enemies, strike once in the back, and repeat ad nauseam. To make matters worse, there's still no invincibility window when taking damage. This leads to infuriating scenarios where you’re knocked from one enemy’s attack into another with no escape, while enemies shrug off your hits without interruption. If the combat doesn’t make you quit, the platforming might. Instant-death spike traps are placed beneath collapsing platforms and swarming flying enemies. These airborne threats often knock you back mid-jump, sending you straight into a bed of spikes. Trying to kill them while balancing on platforms that vanish in seconds is as bad as it sounds. The game’s currency, “chaos,” is mostly earned through defeating enemies or, occasionally, praying at specific stones. A recent patch prevents total loss of chaos on death, but due to cheap traps and combat deaths, you’ll rarely hold onto enough to make meaningful progress due to non-existent balance and percentage loss - meaning that you lose a lot when carrying a lot of chaos. It's very hard to save currency because you get the same small amout of chaos from hard or easy enemies. Upgrades like health and potions can only be unlocked after finding three specific collectibles and spending a hefty amount of chaos, none of which is explained clearly. One of the newer features is a map, but it’s implemented poorly. Instead of unlocking naturally through exploration, you must purchase each map from a floating head NPC. Each new map increases in cost, and given how scarce chaos is, it’s often unaffordable. Worse still, these heads are usually found near the end of a zone, making the map redundant. And since the maps don’t mark collectibles or major objectives—only save points and fast travel doors—they feel useless. While price has lowered and is more fair based on content, the game still has questionable design choices that just don't translate into fun gameplay. But if you still ignore it and push through, you might get a game-crashing bug. It happened to me after beating the second boss. Although the boss will be defeated after you continue, the important scene doesn't play and your entire game is ruined. --------------------------------------------- Some nice ideas and art, but the game is not fun due to lack of polish and inexperience. When you first start the game, you notice two crucial elements that may detract from the overall experience. The first issue is the lack of gamepad support. Because action games require quick access to a variety of moves, playing using a keyboard and mouse is impractical. The second, and perhaps more important, is the extremely small font. The text is difficult to read, which is a shame because there are story elements all over the place. I stopped reading them because the tiny white letters hurt my eyes. I have nothing negative to say about the art or the sound. The main character and enemies include some nice animations that indicate how much work has gone into them. The same is true for the backgrounds and environments brought to life by pixel art. The game is an action adventure with soul-based combat and platforming elements. This means you must be aware of enemy patterns, evade at the appropriate time, and look for an opening to attack. All of this must be done while keeping an eye on the stamina bar. The mechanism, on the other hand, leans more toward action because it recharges quickly. This results in quick and fluid fighting confrontations. Combat has its drawbacks. One example is the inability to move immediately after entering a new screen. Enemies will assault you before you can even react. The most frustrating has to be ridiculous stun lock, which is extremely difficult to get out of, and knockback, which frequently sends you into another enemy attack. It’s certain death when you get stuck in one of these. Stamina does not make platforming enjoyable. The reason for this is that grabbing the edge quickly depletes your stamina. You'll lose your grasp and tumble if you don't push up immediately away. This doesn't seem too horrible on its own, but the game incorporates fall damage, which is not suitable for a game like this. Saving and healing are another mechanisms of the souls games, although they come with odd design choices. You have a healing item with you that recharges when you save. However, the icon is quite small, and there is no difference when you use it - other than the color of the flask's mouth changing, there is little distinction between full and empty. Altars serve as save points. When you save, enemies in the world respawn as usual. But I'm not sure why the developers decided to muck up such a simple operation. You must hit the action button four times each time you wish to save. You must first knell, which does something that is never explained, stand up, kneel again, recharge your flask and trigger enemies to respawn, and stand up again. Exploring the world is not enjoyable. You have no idea what to do, there is no mini-map or waypoints, and you keep running into dead ends. Also, I believe the game is completely broken for multiple reasons: In the trailer, icons in the right upper corner are visible, but not in the game. I'm still stumped as to how you may increase your skills or level up. One character says he’s giving me an extra flask, but I still have only one. Because there is no inventory system or even a menu, the items I picked up cannot be examined. All you can do is leave the game or return to the main menu. The only settings are volume and language. And finally, the price is way too high for something that can’t get the most basic things right.
After the renewal of Act 1, the game has become really good. The level design and art style have improved. Considering that it's being renewed by a solo developer, I think she has done a great job. The price is also very reasonable. I haven't finished the game yet, but I really enjoyed the three hours I've played so far. I played comfortably with an Xbox Game Pad.
The game is completely renewed. The art design and mechanics are impressive. I believe it will get even better with future updates. Playing with a controller feels much more enjoyable. There are still some minor flaws, but they don’t affect the overall gameplay experience. It’s a success considering the price. I’m curious to see how the story continues.
I really liked the game's new update. It's a great game thanks to its graphics, music, and story. I recommend it!
Omen Fall offers far more than expected. The atmosphere, artwork, animations and story blend together in perfect harmony. With the latest major changes and improvements, I can say the game now reflects a much richer perspective. I believe the developers have proven with this significant update that they will continue to carry this spirit and vision even further in future updates. I'm not someone who's easily impressed, but I genuinely recommend it.
The game is really fun, especially liked its story.
😍
After a long wait, the game was redesigned and returned to the market. It was worth the wait. It became smooth and more beautiful. Thanks for the great work. And keep it up with updates !
