Omegaland is a well honed extrapolation of the seminal series of mushroom land sojourns that in the last century where quite a hit with the wee lads of approximately two generations ago. For those with a slight itch to scratch when it comes to gallivanting around platforms and the like will find much to like in this purile persuit of pure platforming pleasantness. Get it while its free. I did.
_____________8__88_____8 ____________88_8__8_____8 ___________888_____88___88888 __________8888______88_8____88 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______8_______8 _________8888_____8_______8 __________88888____8______8 ___________8888888______8 __888_________88888_8 8888888________88_____ _8888888_______8_____ __888888_______88_____ ___88_____8_____8_____ ____8______8____8_____8_88 _______8888_8__88_8_88888 _____888888_8_88__8888888 ____8888888__88______88888 ____88888_____8_________888 ____88_________8__________8 _____8_________8_____ _______________8_____ ____________8_8_____ _____________88_8_____ ______________88_____ ______________8_____
Basit, eğlenceli bir platform oyunu. Doğrusal olmayan bir haritayı keşfedin, karakterinizi yükseltin ve Prenses Omega'nın kalesinin anahtarlarını bulmasına yardım edin! Ve kim bilir, yol boyunca birkaç sürpriz olabilir. mario klonu.
This is one of the best platformers I've ever played. The less you know about it the better. Seriously. It starts out deceptively simple. If using a controller you'll have to use steams built in keyboard to controller mapping but it works absolutely fine. And the only other kinks with the game is that you have to run in noadmin version, and also the frame rate is at 50fps, probably because its based on pal region. But it didn't bother me much at all. Lots of fun and story progressive achievements too. It would be awesome if the dev revisited this game- a brand new version with proper controller support, more achievements and 60fps...but as it stands its a fantastic game as it is and if you like platformers definitely check it out.
Omegaland is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is such an obvious ripoff of Super Mario Bros that I am astounded Nintendo haven't sued yet. I'm surprised the developer went through enough effort to make the character anything other than a plumber. This kind of creative bankruptcy obviously doesn't offer anything to gamers, especially not when coupled with awful platformer mechanics and even worse graphics. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $3 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. It's also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who paid money for this... nobody got refunded. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel almost as ripped off as Nintendo. What's that knocking on the door? A nice man in a suit with a cease and desist?

Playing in windowed mode, the game screen can be resized, but resizing it doesn't preserve the aspect ratio; it's possible to carefully resize the game window to be close to the original sizing while expanding; this is something that older PC video games don't really accommodate when monitors back then in the 2000s were generally non-widescreen.
Omegaland is a platformer video game that engaged with me strongly that hearkens back personally on the times in the 2000s overall where with the lack of buying video games because they were expensive or people were too poor generally, they had to play Adobe Flash games, or freeware games popular and obscure, but mostly obscure, and I was one of those people. This is a game that's simple but makes me wonder if there was anything more than it appears at first, as most video games back then encourage having to fill in the blanks, and wonder what kind of things and instances were having in the background while playing these games. There has been less of it nowadays, less of wondering what's beyond what it seems, moreso in the non-indie video game side of things. A similar game that I played that evokes those feelings of intrigue and mystery is a game called Happyland Adventures, published by Free Lunch Design. The person who made Omegaland, wrote an article on the roughness of of game textures or game art that encourages imagination, something that I read after completing the game, which included said screenshot from Happyland Adventures. There's a lot more than that, but overall, I agree with what they're saying because sometimes, you just want to wonder into a video game that's talked to all that much, a world, and explore without thinking of implied expectations, Omegaland manages to evoke those wondering feelings nicely. Even though I played a variety of video games, admittedly most of them are mobile device video games, but a fair bit of PC video games (whether purchased on Steam, or something like a video game web portal), rarely I do not have any favorites of the games I play because there are too numerous to count. However, I feel that Omegaland may reach to be my personal game of the year in the year of 2023 because captures my feelings of wanting to explore something more and opens up to me. Read this below only after finishing the game, or if you do not care for further details on spoilers regarding the game:

[th]CONTENT[/th] About 20-25 areas to explore in the first half of the game, and about 40 areas, of which two-thirds are new levels, and one-third are remixes of the levels from the first-half of the game

[th]ENDGAME[/th] Collecting enough coins to unlock optional in-game purchases that increase or aid health points.

[th]PLAYTIME[/th] About 90 minutes on the first half of the game, and 345 minutes on the second half of the game. Altogether the total is 335 mins, or 5.583 hours, just around 5.5 hours.

My positives

The title screen changes when in the second half of the game, and after finishing it, reflecting the status of the world and the game you're trying to explore and finish; I feel this is a nice touch, reinforcing things that are happening in the game.
After returning back 5 of the golden keys to the princess in order to finish and beat the game, it turns out that the princess is fake and has taken over the video game world, altering it to their will, corrupting it, and creating havoc on the people and creatures that lived in this world...I was terrified, scared, what happened? Seriously, what, happened. This game has implicit horror elements, for which the world glitches up and there are new obstacles and new goals as resources are much tighter, and it didn't need to do any jumpscares, I was so invested into it. A video game with horror would've just more likely discourage me from playing and play something non-horror instead, or play some horror video games but with friends. What was seemingly easygoing and relaxing has turned the world around to be something to survive and navigate, evoking feelings of wanting to get safety and having to help fix this for what the princess has tricked me, the player. Expect to die more than the first half the game, navigating in this digitally damaged world. I started to care for the inhabitants that had the world just ripped apart as the 'princess' took it upon themselves and ruled the video game world. The various dialogues from them earlier were a way to humanize and connect with them, as well as make the world deeper, as if even in the various chatters, it makes the world less flat, and more real, as if these people have lives beyond themselves. Even the enemies, the ones that I would jump on and stomp, and use invincibility powerups to knock them out, even they are sentiment and have thoughts and feelings, making the world even wider for me. And it's something that's seemingly simple, as a game called Omegaland, being potentially my game of the year in 2023. This game I feel is more appreciated for those that played video games in general, than those that have yet to play a video game, especially platformers, that quite some dexterity using the keyboard to move your character.
This game is a pixel-bit adventure. The graphics are what you would expect. Totally a game to add to the collection if you're an achievement hunter, most of them are easy to get.
