Stay away from this until they make some major changes, let's starty off with what I liked; The red metallic paint and that's it. (the car models were decent though, they look quite good, more than good enough) Bad: You can't change anything in regards to video. Controller doesn't work. I was at 18 FPS when I started the race, pc is: 1600X, 5700XT, 16Gb RAM. (nothing special but it can run Grid 2019 at very stable framerates at 1440p) There's one track in the game and you can only use cars. The UI has an outliner that seems to be stuck on whatever is to the left. (PS4 - Xbox for choosing controller it shows the Xbone image but the outliner is on the PS4) You can't rebind the controller keys - didn't check how it was with PC-keys. The only options you can really change is audio...and it may decide you put it wrong and increase it for you all of a sudden... (at least music as it did that when I went back to a previous screen after viewing the cars in the garage) Had the game been 5$ and they had at least a couple of different vehicles and tracks (with decent framerate and working controllers) I may have said something like; If you have the money, maybe spend it and see if it improves. In its current state and at the price they're selling it for...I really don't see any reason to buy it outside of you either being a friend of theirs, have so much money that you've bought everything already and *absolutely want to buy something* or being just a bit of a masochist...

Warning: Asset Flip!
OLD SKOOL RACER is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. It's important to also note the "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. I went through the Unity assembly file for this asset flip to work out what it was made of, and it came up with a remarkable 40+ Unity asset packs, and yeah, guess what, the developer didn't acknowledge taking/stealing those from actual developers and tried to mislead gamers by claiming the work of other developers as their own. It that unethical? Yes, it's unethical. This is a basic Unity asset pack racing template, you race an asset flipped car along a few asset flipped courses, and I suppose the developers intent is that you think they made it, but really all of this was taken from actual developers, and the "developer" behind this asset flip just signed their name on the bottom as if it was thier own work, which it isn't. The game was abandoned roughly almost immediately after launch and just gets token updates with no content as part of the developers intention to scam gamers into buying an asset flip. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. The game will never be completed. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. OLD SKOOL RACER has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for completing one of the levels, but only around 9 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 5 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Now here's where we get into why this asset flip is a SCAM. The asset flipper behind this, taking the work of others and putting their name on it to mislead gamers, is charging a full AAA 30 USD for their abandoned asset flip, a dedicated and serious attempt at fraud. Completely unacceptable, arguably criminal. This asset flip costs more than Project CARS or any other recentish AAA driving game. See why this kind of crap is so harmful to gamers?
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
My Review for Old Skool Racer - Ok so this is how I really feel about this game and take note that normaly I would recommend a game like this but not this time for these reasons. Looks like not too many really reviewed this one so I will do one. First off I did not pay the 22 dollars for this game and was not going to either NOT for a beta early access and this really should not be that high of price anyways. I purchased a key elsewhere that was much cheaper - and Im glad I did. The game appears like it is in its early beta stages, its not optimised proper - being a unity game and all that should have been a priority. The games video trailer shows races with cars, boats and whatever else thrown into the mix - none of that stuff don't seem to be implemented yet so the video does not tell the whole story either. The cars control is VERY hard to get used to and terrible, its very sensitive when you are turning left or right - not even on a dime then you spin out eventually trying to perform a kind of drift or hit the wall because its SO easy to lose control of the car in this game and that is just not fun (that must be fixed!) The graphics options Im not to sure if they are even working (possibly broken) because I had turned them down in hopes of getting smoother gameplay but to no avail - again this game needs optimised. Now the tracks in this beta game whatever it had to offer me they looked actually nice but that is the only thing it really has going for it, I will give it that much. Its a simple unity made racer much like a browser racing webgl game lets say: was about the very same standards just nice enough graphics, but still not the greatest I have ever seen. There are plenty of other unity racing games I have came across on casual webgame sites with more or about the same graphics and gameplay. I did not get the feel I was playing a old school racer here (if that was the intention?) It felt more like modern day racing game on a sub-standard engine that screams for more tweaking. So the obvious things I mentioned above needs a lot of attention and really it does not look like a bad game if you put all the bad things aside, the nice looking tracks with the eye catching scenery in the video trailer is the thing what got my attention into trying this game out to be honest. I really feel the people who created this game do have the right idea and they still have a long way to go and can improve on this and actually make it stand out in the long run but only if they fix the above flaws. It certainly is a great start I see it and I really honestly love to see more of this game progress with update followed by more updates to make it grow and get it to the standards it deserves. The graphics and style is not bad, its just the gameplay that spoils it in the end. I do have to admit when i was downloading it and I saw it was over 5 gigs I had thought to myself wow this is going to be really impressive to look at, It needs some improvements unfortaintly to make it better. Also the choice of cars to drive in this game, there are lots to choose from and some customizations can be made - which is really nice also. So it is a unfinished product forsure and the price should be a little lower though, this being a beta and all.
Под громким названием скрывается не доделка по всем франтам, от физики до музыки и плохой оптимизации, играть к сожалению невозможно.
In this video I take a look at OLD SKOOL RACER, a car racing game. To sum this up in one word, terrible! I suppose I can expect the developer to revoke my key (which they are not supposed to do) but too bad, there are far too many features missing including reverse!!! The courses have no real relation to the locations apart from corny tourist symbolism and most don't exist yet anyway. Also car control was almost impossible, if you try to turn too much it just engages some silly spinout routine that was impossible to get out of leaving you face first in a wall with, as I said earlier, no reverse. I have no idea why these sort of games are made. Unless this title undergoes an enema, which is very unlikely (I have seen this sort of title before) then just save your time, it's a case of good promo shots with a high price to trick you into thinking it's quality and parting with your cash. Watch the video to see what the game is like... https://youtu.be/QYLJ-_Vozcw Check'n Games Video Curation, providing you with as many Let's Play's as we can. Thanks for watching. If what they were trying to do with OLD SCHOOL RACER was mimic graphics, performance and controls of the 90's then the have done a brilliant job.If they were trying to make a modern racing game which is fun they have failed miserably, bad graphics, terrible frame rate boring tracks, bad handling and no challenge all add up to probably the worse racing game i have ever played and i have played a lot.Uninstalled
Extrem hohe Systemanforderungen.
The other reviews are telling the truth. This game is terribly optimized and so badly that my computer can run both GTA 5 Legacy heavily modded and the GTA 5 Remastered at highest graphics with no issues and this game struggles at it's lowest graphics and the graphics settings seems to have little effect on the look of the game. Not to mention i had to force close the game when I went to look at each vehicle and I went in to look at the pod. I only recommend this if you have a fairly over powered computer.
