About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

FL Studio has been real quiet since this droped
This game is super fun for music lovers. As someone who has no music experience, I found everything to be super beginner friendly and just really enjoyable. Would definitely like to see more instruments in the full game tho!
This game is so much fun!!!!!! I've always wanted to start producing music and if you're a noob (such as I...) but have wanted to take a dip into the pond of music-making (again, such as I...) but have been afraid of how daunting everything seems from the outside (must I say it thrice?), this is totally for you. A round of applause to the team behind this game - it is truly a gem and you can tell that a LOT of heart went into the development. Considering that it is still in early access, I'm so excited to see how this continues to grow!

While charming and fun, I can't thumbs up it at the moment, I've had to restart 3 times now after a soft lock bug, but also had to reset the game do to text getting stuck and locking me out of finishing quests. Wait for a bit and let it cook.
gay people! gay people together! gay people! gay people forever!
I kinda want to start making actual music now
It's a cross between a simple game, simple music creation software, and great aesthetics. It's not gonna top any goty charts but for what it's worth, I think this rules, super worth it
This game hadn't crossed my radar until today and it was an immediate purchase as I knew my partner (big ol' music nerd) would love it. It's such a charming game, from the art to the dialogue, and I can imagine it would be perfect for someone wanting to jump back into music in a low pressure setting. I love that the music you make is yours to keep and use, too.
This is definetly an excelent way of learning how to produce. Not to mention I had a lot of fun with it. 9/10. I hope they add project saving features and a copy/paste for whole sections, that would help make long songs much faster
Honestly alot of fun and way cheaper than getting studio equipmet
