MOGGIES!!! I'm always looking for casual puzzle games to fill ADD moments when doing boring tasks, so how could I resist a game centered around an adorable but murderous kitty hunting small prey? The game's graphics look a little primitive, but don't let that fool you - the puzzle mechanics are well thought-out, the progression of difficulty feels balanced, and unlocking new levels and areas feels very satisfying and keeps things interesting. The animations are cute and sound effects are simple but well-chosen. The sound effect that sold the game for me is the purring after the cat kills the last critter - they obviously used a real cat purr, and it's PURR-fect!!! I give this game two paws up!
Insanely polished, it always introduces new mechanics before the previous ones get old. great game, tons of variety.
A lovely little puzzle game with a nice pixel art style and a level editor. Well worth the £1.99 I paid for it on sale.
A really good, short puzzle game. There are 103 well-crafted puzzles. There is also a level editor, and some pretty good community made puzzles. There are also some "mini-games", but these are not that worthwhile. I love how the puzzle mechanics are simple, and how they feel like natural consequences of animal behavior. The animations are cute, in addition to communicating the rules well. The graphics are pretty pixel-y, but I had no problem with that. After completing each level, the game tells you whether you found a solution in the minimal number of moves. Normally, I think this is a puzzle game no-no. However, you never need to find the minimal move solutions to unlock anything, it just gives you a little gold marker on your map, so it is not a problem. I actually though that trying to find the optimal solution was kind of fun sometimes, and when it was too tedious I just ignored it.
Unbridled feline aggression and tricky problem-solving converge in a most satisfying manner in Of Mice and Moggies, a stellar Sokoban variant with a sedate, bucolic backdrop. A belligerent brown cat has embarked on an extensive hunting expedition spanning numerous locales, and he needs your wise direction in order to effectively bag the prey. Manipulative mice, airborne bunnies, and elusive lizards are the prime targets for this frisky fighter. These cunning creatures won't be subdued easily and will take flight when the combative cat occupies an adjacent segment of turf; should an animal reach the outer perimeter of the playing field and escape, it's time to head back to the clawing board. If a patch of tall grass isn't available in order to launch a stealth assault, players will need to discover various ways to entrap the hunted before they can be knocked out. Pronounced purring follows every successful conquest. The sequence of movements made to complete each level are recorded and can be reviewed in order to assist players in identifying optimal solutions; this feature is particularly welcome since a handful of the levels can actually be solved with fewer moves than the designated perfect solutions imply. A versatile level editor and some unlockable minigames are nestled amongst the shrubbery, but the core levels are so thoughtfully concocted they more than stand on their own. Block-pushing buffs certainly won't want to miss out on this compelling collection of countryside conundrums. I've witnessed some peculiar occurrences in the forest over the years, but I have yet to see a rabbit become completely ensnared by a spider web. Gobsmacking!
Really solid tile-based puzzle game where you need to capture rats as a cat by either sneaking up on them or cornering them. Because the rats react when they see you’re next to them, the puzzle is interacting with what types of tiles and obstacles the level gives you to make sure they can be cornered in the first place and don’t escape. Only a few hours long and doesn’t run out of ideas.
Fantastic puzzle game. The lovely artwork behind this is amazing and the puzzles itself are awesome. You just gotta find the best solution and beat it. Highly recommend for all puzzle fans.
