Took me back to my childhood. I used to play this game all the time. It's still fun even after all this time

One of my favorite Xbox games ever.

[h1] Monster munch! A bit different than rest of the series. This time solve puzzles in 3D environment with help of Munch. Levels involve platforming but not as much. Great game despite it's age! Needs remake. [/h1]

[h2]Verdict[/h2] ❌ Not Recommended A 3D Oddworld game that simply did not work for me. [h2]My history with the game[/h2] I played Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee on Steam for 17 minutes. This version is apparently a newer port from 2016, and I wanted to try it mainly because I have nostalgia for Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. This time, however, the game did not grab me at all. [h2]What didn’t work for me[/h2] * The 3D gameplay did not feel interesting to me. * Compared to Abe's Oddysee, it lost a lot of the charm I liked in the original. * It felt boring by today's standards. * Honestly, I think it would have felt boring to me even around the time it originally released. * After only 17 minutes, I had no motivation to continue. [h2]Is it an endless game? How long to beat?[/h2] No, this is not an endless game. I personally stopped after 17 minutes, so I cannot fairly judge the full length. My review is based only on this short Steam experience. [h2]Who will love it[/h2] Maybe dedicated Oddworld fans who want to try every game in the series will find something interesting here. For casual players, or for people who mainly loved the older 2D Oddworld style, I do not think this is easy to recommend. [h2]Replay value[/h2] For me, replay value is none. I tried it, but I do not want to continue or return to it. [h2]Final note[/h2] Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee may have its fans, but it is not for me. I respect the Oddworld universe, and I still have strong nostalgia for Abe's Oddysee, but this 3D entry felt boring and uninteresting very quickly. Not recommended.

Я проходил две первые части серии, но новая часть свернула куда-то не туда. Из 2D платформера со стелсом и секретами резко превратилась в какую-то аркаду с собирательством и детскими задачами. Да, это что-то новое, но смотрится такой переход максимально странно. Игралось бы, в принципе, неплохо, если бы не злоебучая камера - отрыжка неудачного переноса в 3Д. Присутствует несомненный бич трёхмерных игр из нулевых - тупорылая камера. Иногда она любит взять такой ракурс, что заруинит вам игру. Да, мышкой можно повертеть и это немного исправляет ситуацию, но иногда мышка позволяет "влететь" в текстуры и наблюдать их изнутри, не помогая игровому процессу. Ну и да, удачи вам в прыжках с этой ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Сами уровни игры настолько иногда неинтуитивны, что без руководства игру просто не пройти. А полного руководства в видео - формате попросту не существует, только в текстовом, который ещё и перевести нужно. Задумка разделения функций на двух персонажей была бы неплоха, если бы не было столько умений у каждого из них. Про некоторые ты забываешь (настолько редко их пользуешь) и иногда из-за этого ловишь полный затык в игре. Сложность если поначалу ещё терпимая (а в опциях нет выбора!), то потом она просто доводит до нестерпимого гнева и мата. Признаюсь честно, я уже настолько заебался с этой игрой, что психанул на уровне со взрывчаткой и расставленными мехами вокруг, которые в тебя палят. Игра просто допинала мою психику. Поэтому считерил: нашёл сейвы, чтоб перемахнуть этот ♥♥♥♥♥♥ уровень. Ну и отмечу, что Steam в своём репертуаре (а может и сами ленивые разрабы). Выкинуть в свой магазин игру родом из нулевых, без малейших апдейтов или улучшения графики. Ну и русский язык для слабаков, верно ведь ([i]сарказм[/i])? Удачи тебе понять брифинг на английском и все ролики, для которых русификатора НЕ СУЩЕСТВУЕТ. Хорошо, хоть для текста есть русификатор, а то с некоторыми правилами в игре был бы полный затык. Резюмирую: не прикосайтесь к этому говну, если не хотите сжечь себе нервные клетки. Для ознакомления и понимания задумки двух персонажей - можно пройти первые 5-6 уровней, далее никаких особых отличий нет. Эта часть - худшая из серии Оддворлд, в которую я пока играл (3 первых части). Постараюсь пропить чай с мятой и забыть эту парашу побыстрей (всё равно потерянные 17 часов жизни мне никто не вернёт). Это что угодно, но НЕ ИГРА.

I originally played this game on the original xbox when I was a child (like 7 years old). I have no idea how I acquired this game, it just sorta came into my hands. I couldn't afford many games so this was on of the few I had. Keep in mind, that I played this when I also had a Wii, so I was used to super kiddish games like Mario and Pokemon. Immediately upon booting up the game, you get blasted with that Oddworld dark atmosphere: Slavery, extinction, addiction, dark industry, lots of blood, inter-species conflict & cooperation. I was hooked then and there. There's also that cheeky humor that this series has that compliments the atmosphere well. The world design and architecture are so incredibly unique, I sometimes boot up old saves just to walk around the levels. This graphics are very primitive, but I honestly think that adds to the vibe. The game play retains the same mechanics throughout the game. Abe has his own abilities, and Munch has his. Most levels have you solving environmental puzzles, that usually either involve platforming or combat. Some levels are a bit frustrating, as they involve lots of back-and-forth around level. I really love this game, when I found out it was on steam I bought it again.

this is my favorite game of all time but sadly I have to give it a negative review since as soon as I start a new game or load a save the game crashes and I can't even play FIX THIS PLS
