About
Selected by the fickle finger of fate, Abe™, floor-waxer first class for RuptureFarms, was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss, Molluck the Glukkon™, to turn Abe and his fellow Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch effort to rescue Molluck's failing meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld's creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
After completing arduous Temple trials, and journeying across a wasteland with his friend Elum, Abe was granted the awesome power of the Shrykull. Returning to RuptureFarms, Abe destroyed the foul slaughterhouse, rescued his buddies, and brought down some righteous lightning on top of Molluck's pointy head.

Jeśli kogoś interesuje ta seria, niech zainteresuje się odnowioną wersją - New 'n Tasty.
A legendary game, with probably one of the best instances of worldbuilding I've ever seen. The games "speaking system" and platforming is still engaging decades later. The completion aspect of the game can feel a bit dated, but the game is satisfying simply due to the puzzles, world, environment and sheer weirdness of everything. It also has some pulse quickening, heart pounding chase sequences that are really fun. Definitely recommended, just don't expect a modern puzzle platformer. New n Tasty is actually a great alternative despite being a bit less gritty and has a slightly worse aesthetic, although I completely disagree with the new=bad shtick, more eyes on Oddworld is a good thing!

Fun platformer, legit my childhood 10/10
one of the better platformers. play with the fan launcher though this port is pretty terrible
[IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ ALL OF THIS, SKIP TO THE END!!!] Alright, so first off, be aware that this game doesn't have excellent game design. Infact, the game design is actually somewhat subpar. The game oftentimes doesn't tell you important things (i.e, there is a part of the stockyards level where you have to get a stone to throw to set off mines by hitting a bag while jumping. The game does not that you can get said stones that way, or that you need them), and the save system is quite bad, with you having to tediously do things over and over again if you die, and trust me, you WILL die a lot. So, why am I recommending it? Because it's oftentimes satysfying as HELL to get past a puzzle, and, most importantly of all... The art. This game's art is GREAT. Scratch that, the game itself is ART! Genuinely, I CANNOT stress this enough, I LOVE the way this game looks. The closest things to it I can think of are Badlands and (to some level) Half-Life 1. It feels like an alive, yet decaying world. Like an ecosystem growing over a manmade one. It feels like if nature and machinery were swapped, and various manmade constructs began growing out of the ground, only for nature and machinery to get swapped back, and have vines grow on top of them. I truly cannot describe just how it feels. There's also a remade version with better game design (New 'N' Tasty), but that one feels more generic and flat. Overall, if you're fine with having to check playthroughs from time to time, and generally having to play a difficult stealth/puzzle/platformer game, this is a MUST BUY!!!
(The review does not include my hours recorded because I played the relive modded version of the game which you can learn about here: https://github.com/AliveTeam/alive_reversing) It pains me to not finish this game, but it's awful checkpoint system and incredibly unfair puzzle design makes this very difficult to recommend in the modern day. The sequel, Abe's Exoddus, has quicksave functionality which makes the game much more enjoyable yet I would find Oddysee far less grating if there were checkpoints, say, after you completed one of the optional secret challenges or in the midpoint of a very long set of challenges. I think it is okay to have to re-do sections you have already completed if they are fast to re-do if you have mastered them already. In Oddysee there are plenty of puzzles where sections of them are extremely easy but time consuming to re-play like when Abe has to wait to hear the end of a combinations of whistles before being able to respond (you can't just whistle beforehand if you already know what buttons/keys to press in combination). On top of all of this, some of the puzzle design is clunky as hell with the solutions being very unintuitive and reliant on so much guess work that figuring them out often doesn't feel satisfying. It is a shame, because this game has so much going for it including the speech system, [precise platforming, the grimy and alien aesthetic, and still impressive PS1 pre-rendered backgrounds. I think I'm just going to play Exoddus because that one has all of the great stuff I am looking for with few of the downsides.
Оч крутой платформер, потрачено было куча часов и нервов на 100% прохождение)
