Greatest RPG I've played in years
Awesome music 9/10, good battle system and isn't too slow, enemy sprites are awesome, build customization for your characters so there isn't really any character that you cant make work, a bit grindy but there are ways around it and playing normally through all the characters stories you dont feel the grind that often, and if you wanna brute force content you can to an extent by rolling for better item's than you'd normally have access to with a character's ability. Story is pretty baseline for most of the characters but for having 8 protagonists it's not bad. Solid 8/8
I've played this before, but this is my first time playing through it on Steam. The game's pretty divisive largely due to the writing being pretty bland, even old school RPGs like FF4 had bad writing moments, but they also had a lot more going on to keep you interested. Musical tastes differ, but the soundtrack is one of my personal favorites of all time, and if you want to get the most out of your experience I recommend using a pair of earbuds or headphones, especially during the boss fights. I also ended up preferring to turn the voice volume to zero, as the voice acting here wasn't my cup of chocolate milk, but that's up to you. P.S. Despite my personal love for the game I still feel the game's flaws are at the point where I would never pay a full $60 for this game, so I recommend waiting for a sale even if you're interested.
WHAT A WONDERFUL GAME! Every boss fight gave me the chills, made me feel scared whether I'm ready for each fight, and at the edge of my seat. Feeling really closer to all 8 characters in the game and how they all play a beautiful part in beating Galdera. I would 100% recommend this game to anyone if you want an open world, JRPG, turn-based, story-rich game that wants to fight all kinds of boss. Now, it is time for Octopath Traveler II.
苦痛
Games like this make me wish I could give a "neutral" recommendation. I grew up playing classic JRPGs on the various NES and Sony gaming platforms, so for me the nostalgia is strong. This game is love letter to those old classics. That being said, the more I play the more I find myself getting annoyed with the frequency of random encounters (and yes, I know about the scholar ability to reduce those), the grind for gear, and the annoying HP sponge/Brick bosses. At the time of this review I just finished my first chapter 3 story, and I am honestly not sure if I will go on to finish the game.
