Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

HHHHH
É Octopath
Overall, Thumbs up for: Amazing value (100+ hours of main story content) Excellent soundtrack and visuals, some of the pixel art is phenomenal. Good JRPG turn-based battle system with lots of meaningful customization All cutscenes, with the exception of party chat, are voice acted. Detractors for consideration: The writing is mediocre at best. This applies to both the main story and the characters. Silent protagonists DON'T WORK in a story-heavy game. Characters in the story will interact with you in the form of tedious monologues. This is a significant step backwards from the first two games, which, by the way, weren't storytelling masterpieces in the first place. The town building feature was implemented poorly. Very important features are locked to the post-game content, <spoiler>like relocating certain facilities, removing bushes, etc. In fact, some things like bridges and slopes can't be adjusted at all.</spoiler> The length of the main story could be considered a detractor in this case. I would say that the strongest part of the story is the first 40-ish hours, and it gradually gets more and more tedious and introduces more and more obnoxious characters as time goes on. It's fine for what it is, but I guarantee you I'll forget almost all of it. I'll say this- the game offers several "endings" along the main story route, and It'd be fine to conclude at any of those stopping points. Maybe consider stopping if you're starting to get bored, instead of forcing it to the end like I did.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game keeps a lot of what I liked about Octopath. Plus, I like games like Dark Cloud, so the town building mechanics are fun so far. I'm also digging the double rows of fighters, although I'm still learning how to properly use them. The bosses aren't quite as hard as the first game, but I'm still earlier levels (about 20) so that might change when I get into the game a little more. I loved the multiple origins of the original game, but having to basically "start over" with a new character 8x in one RPG was a bit much, so I'm not mad about the single protagonist. I've seen a lot of complaints that this makes the companion characters less relatable b/c you don't get into their story as much, which I think is valid critique, but the game's so fun to play regardless that it's not a deal breaker for me. And as always...dat soundtrack
结局真不错
不管是系统还是剧情都不行
Absolutely phenomenal all of this music is going in my spotify playlist . GOTY for me. That ending was WILD. Cannot wait for octopath 3.
You dont build enough connection with your party members. The first 10 hours lets say, is so boring to play through, but then you start getting Octopath traveller 2 vibes. Given you have significant number of candidates to choose from (for your party) it feels more like pokemon rather than OT2 (which each character had its backstory), this game is more like oh cool this character has access to these skills, must be good for the team.
An excellent addition to the Octopath franchise. I really enjoyed the different story arcs and party members in this game. While the ability to customize each character is a little more limited compared to 1 and 2, the sheer number of possible party members means there are multiple choices for every niche. I think this is the easiest game overall, but it was an enjoyable journey nonetheless!
