About
The year is 2084. The future has turned out much darker than anyone could imagine. First, there was the Nanophage. A digital plague that killed thousands upon thousands of those who chose to augment their minds and bodies. Then came the War, leaving both the West and the East decimated and shattered. With no one left to seize power, corporations took over and forged their own crooked empires.
You are an Observer – a tool of corporate oppression. Feared and despised, you hack into the darkest corners of your suspects’ minds. You creep into their dreams, expose their fears, and extract whatever your investigation may require.
In this sci-fi tale crafted by Bloober Team – the modern‑day masters of horror, prepare to experience a dystopian future where not even your innermost thoughts are safe.
Become a Neural Detective – You play as Daniel Lazarski, an elite investigator of the future portrayed by late cyberpunk icon Rutger Hauer. As an Observer, you hack into the minds of suspects to extract clues and evidence. Anything they felt, thought, or remembered can and will be used to solve your case.
Eat Their Dreams – Using a device known as the Dream Eater, hack into the minds of the dead and dying to relive their final moments to explore their fears and obsessions. Delve into these twisted neural mazes and search for clues that can help you find the elusive killer.
Take in the Atmosphere of 2084 – Enter a world ravaged by war and cyber-plague, where life is cheap and hope is scarce. Where most people will do anything to escape their grim existence. Virtual realities, mind-altering drugs, neural implants - pick your poison and drift away into a blissful oblivion. But remember, no matter how deep you go, you can never hide from an Observer.

Observer: System Redux is easily one of the strongest horror/thriller “walking simulator” experiences on the market. I loved the game. It genuinely gave me chills at times, mostly because the atmosphere is so unique. It mixes REC-style tension, cyberpunk aesthetics, and urban/city horror in a way that feels very different from most horror games. The final hour especially goes into a much more disturbing body-horror direction, and it works really well. The plot is intriguing from start to finish, and the world constantly makes you want to keep exploring. The graphics, sound design, environmental details, and overall art direction are all excellent. Bloober Team really knows how to create atmosphere, and this game is another reason why I’m a big fan of their work. It’s not an action-heavy horror game, so don’t expect constant combat or traditional survival horror mechanics. But if you enjoy slow-burn psychological horror, cyberpunk mystery, unsettling visuals, and immersive storytelling, this is absolutely worth playing. Strong 8/10.
Very atmospheric game.
Seemed to be interesting until the first neural interogation. 20 minutes of nonsense and no end in sight. Lost interest.
Observer blends deep and gritty Cyberpunk ideas with some Cronenberg Body horror for a pretty trippy experience. Throughout the game, there are some very abstract demonstrations of what happens when AI or cybernetics are trying to blend with a human mind, and honestly, I think Bloober Team did a phenomenal job. Typically in a Cyberpunk game or movie, if a human body or mind is rejecting the augmentations, you get some screen distortion, here you experience full on outer body experiences that genuinely make you feel like you are doing something that was never supposed to be done. With that being said, this game will not be for everyone. Half of the game is a very literal sense of what is going on while the other half is the player experiencing what the protagonist is; it is normal for you to be unable to make heads or tales of what is going on. Observer has a lot to say on the cliche Cyberpunk questions, but goes about answering them with more detail than most. Are we still human if only a copy of consciousness exists? At what point do we sacrifice our morals and humanity to continue living? How far can we take cybernetic augmentations before we lose who we truly are? There are various ending based on what your answers are to the questions you are being asked, and the decisions that lead down the branching narrative are pretty difficult to make once you're actually given them in the context of the game's story. I've played just about every one of Bloober Team's horror games and this is up there with Cronos and SH2 Remake. There are some very strong parallels to Cronos and having played both, I can see how moments point in the direction of Cronos. Finally, Blade Runner fans get another Cyberpunk Rutger Hauer role which is pretty cool. All in all, Observer is a pretty cool Cyberpunk experience. The horror is strong, the story is deep, and the world is as dark as I personally think that reality would be. I had some minor performance hiccups, but nothing that took me out of the game.
Superb, must play for fans of the gerne.
Prettiest game I've ever played, every minute of it was an unique jaw dropping experience due to the excellent ambiance in combination with the graphical direction behind the whole game. While the story is alright, it is in my opinion not the main strength of this title, however that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just ok, which is better than bad. The real strength lies in the art direction, the ambiance, the sound design, the environments and the truly compelling philosophical theme driving the game, paired with a psychedelic microdose of good old light science tincture, these strengths (In that order) are what makes this game worth experiencing at least once in life. I'm not a fan of Bloober, but this game deserves all the praise one could possibly give.
