i've been an avid follower ever since the first build and now i'm super stoked to see it on steam! it will still stand out as one of the few distinct VNs out there (with its unique take on asian cultural influences, particularly the indonesian ones) and will forever have a soft spot in my heart. along with the engaging story about war, love, and forgiveness, the characters have so much dynamic with each other that there's never a dull moment in this game. [strike]i'm looking at you, Yuda.[/strike] Mitra is a sweetheart but i don't think i can see him as being more than a big bro to me ^^; Rama stole my heart years ago, but now i can say Reksa takes first place /cough the art was pretty but inconsistent, namely sprites vs cgs; though considering how old this game is, it's understandable and shouldn't really put anyone off unless you're super picky about it. [strike]don't worry, the cgs for the bad ends will still hurt :'D[/strike] (the visuals for sweetchiel's next game are definitely worth taking a look, though!) there are some mistakes (with past/present tenses, mostly) but they're scarce and quite minor, so it shouldn't really be a bother. the weeks pass by a bit too quickly for me? since it's about 1-3 event/s per week and i'd really like more lore, but making it longer probably might not have worked well given the size of the cast/urgency of the plot, aha. anyway, now it's time to sit and wait for Bermunda-
So I originally played this before it had it's Steam release and beat it all, but I tracked down my old data and deleted it to start this all fresh and get it back fully in my mind. Also, ignore my play time, I have both left it open to go take care of my kids/real life stuff, and to draw a character/fan art. But this game, besides having great lore and a new location and country of origin vs most otome, just has wonderful, overall very flawed/human characters, especially for being the humanoid btu still non-humans they are. The flow is pretty well, though a bit slow to start up, but for the world and characters/ties it builds in that time, it's perfectly fine to me. The variations/some dialogue changes depending on previous actions, and it was fun to discover them and see how the main characters treated Tamara. I also love the backstores of man ycharacters, though I wish we knew more about the connection of Granny Sukma and a certain someone, and their backstory, but I guess that is the sign fo a good game. I want more, BUT I am perfectly content and happy with the game, it's length, etc how it is now. SweetChiel even showed which specific species each of the love interests were based off of design/color scheme wise, and had a glossary of terms/culture related things with some pcitures and descriptions with them. Those were super cool to see and learn on. Also, the brid Rama is based on is absolutely adorable. Also just the CGs, man the CG graphics are amazing, and actually a decent amount of them, especially for game length and price to boot(though I always want more, SweetChiel just has a style I love and characters I adore to go with them). Heck, this game and characters draw to me enough that I even love the bad character endings you can get, too. I have legitimately replayed/went to old saves just to go and redo the bad ends/my favorite one a few times now, along with the good ends. Just, if you love otome, especially in a unique setting, with even a few side characters that grow on you dearly, then I'd definitely suggest playing this game.
It's been years since I've first played this visual novel. This was way before it was released on Steam. At the time this visual novel picked my interest due to its different story compared to the typical otome school themed, that at the time was still "popular". However I do not regret to ever give it a shot and play. It has been one of my best choices I made at the time. For me the story is compeling and each route is distinct on its own way that I was able to enjoy it a lot. Each character has its own place in the world and the bachelors are incredible on their own. In my opinion the art is great and served the story right but what stood out the most was the indonesian culture influence. Its something different and well done. The sound and music has been well placed that I've never felt something amiss. Overhaul I recomend playing Nusantara: Legend of The Winged Ones. I look foward for your next game.
Very good otome game. Not fragile MC, she is quite brave and even bossy sometimes. The routes are very interesting and shows different views of the same story. Very charming routes, I loved how the feeling developed between them and the art is very sweet. The game is very authentic in many things. The type of game you will not mistake with another because story and art and very unique. Adorable game. Really enjoyed. There is a guide available in the community page, very easy too if you want to get all achivements.
A very sweet und lovely Game. <3 Very good work
I can't say so much because I'm new player here. But it's an amazing artwork. I love so much the detail and expression in the main character. Perhaps one day, the creator can make Nusantara: Legend of The WInged One into the movie. Cheers!
Hello Steam user who is wondering if this visual novel is worth their time. I'm going to tell you right now that the short answer is absolutely yes! This review is actually perfectly timed since it's the month of love so doing a visual novel is appropriate, especially one that has two really great love stories in it. Pros – the setting and concept. This game has a unique setting and I really mean it. I can't think of one single visual novel game that has a blend of Indonesian culture and fantasy elements with an Isekai twist. Honestly, that is exactly why I bought it. Like I said in my These Nights in Cairo review, one of the reasons I really applauded that game is because it had an interesting setting that was outside of high school and this one is no different. Our heroine, Tamara, is a cynical, angry woman who is whisked away by a kooky goddess and into a land where people just naturally have wings or can melt flash with their saliva with the promise that she can go home if she saves the people of the new land. On a mission to get home and face her uncle she agrees and meets some interesting characters along the way, even ones she may romance. True that isn't exactly an original concept but the unique setting, mythos, characters and heroine herself make the story feel fresh even if the "Chosen One" storyline has been done to death. – The characters. Every character from the heroine and her love interests to even side characters like Granny and the triplets has a unique identity and are interesting in their own little way. True, the supporting cast of this game is fairly small but that is in no way a detriment. Hell, I even like the villain in a love-to-hate kind of way. – The story. Like I mentioned above the story is your standard chosen one journey. However with that said, that doesn't mean it isn't interesting. Honestly most of the first half of the game is more of a slice of life where you get to know your chosen love interest and the side characters before you get into trying to stopping the war. I thought it was built up pretty well and the pacing of the game is pretty good (although I'll admit there was a few slow parts here and there).
Also the bad endings had me misty eyed and grabbing for tissue boxes while during the good endings I couldn't help but grin like a fool (Reksa ending) or shedding happy tears (Rama's ending. That man seriously needs all the hugs he can get.)
– The art. While it probably isn't the most beautiful art I've ever seen it has a unique style and is pleasant to look at. It's got its own field which really helps with the atmosphere. There also surprisingly detailed and extremely colorful which just adds extra folklore charm to the character models. Backgrounds also look good too with a painted style like you see an old fairytale books. – The music. Now I'm not an expert in Indonesian culture but I'm pretty sure all the music in this game is authentic. Or if it's not then it's pretty damn close to being authentic. There are some instruments I heard that I could not for the life of figure out what was making those beautiful sounds. If they released the soundtrack for this game I am totally getting it! – The extras. Normally I don't really comment on this but this game gives a little extra encyclopedia on both terms that are used in the game and the animals the love interests were based on. It's pretty informative and I thought it was just a nice extra touch. Cons –
Mitra's
route. I think it's interesting that I like the character but hate his romance. Or maybe hates too strong a word. I think a more accurate term would be average.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with him and maybe that's part of the problem. Mitra is a genuine nice guy who's a pillar of his community and good with kids and a phenomenal warrior and also handsome but humble about his status and not arrogant... In other words he's too perfect. Hell even, Tamara mentioned that in her narration. True he has a few self-doubts about his position and he lost his parents at a young age but still even his flaws seem... manufactured. This makes his romance seem totally by the numbers and kind of boring. I even noticed that he doesn't have a bad route which I thought was weird since the other two had very heartbreaking bad routes. If he had a bad route then maybe his good route would've seemed more fulfilling than just "they get a live happily ever after."
– I think there might be a glitch in the gallery. First time I tried looking at it after finishing a route nothing showed up. I had to finish two whole routes before any of the CGs popped up. Not sure if this is a glitch or something wrong with my system but it was just concerning. Neutral – why did the heroine have blue hair? Sorry it just seems very out of place in a game where almost everyone else had natural hair colors. It's not that that's really a problem it was just kind of jarring. Once I got used to it though I thought it was fine. Well this ended up being longer than I intended but I guess I had more to unpack than I realize. Anyway definitely recommend this visual novel if you want to see some great love stories thats at a fairly reasonable price to boot. I do recommend following the creators instructions of doing Mitra's, Rama's, and Reksa's routes.
I think it will honestly help alleviate the boringness of Mitra's route if you do it first.
