"Nuclear Wipeout" is a student project from the Ahlman Institute in Finland. This time the students were taught how to make a basic rolling ball marble physics puzzle platformer. It does work, and you get 31 levels, but it's also not exactly winning any awards. Remember, this is Steam, for serious games, we're not here to grade peoples homework. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. That really should be the first thing they teach students! Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.

Biased review since I know the guy who made the game. If you're one of those unhumans who enjoy platforms that make you rage, then this is for you. I managed 17 minutes before I wanted to throw rocks at windows. I'm also available if anyone wants to mail an Axe to his door.

This free game will bring out the worse profanity in the shortest amount of time. Frustration will kick in after your death counter hits +50 and subsequent death explosions with elevator sounds drive you mad. With that said, it's challenging little game to complete. Death counter is there to shame you, completion timer pointless as there is no Hall of Fame/Best time Scoreboard. A shadow cube would be a nice addition to show your successful attempt. No background music or way to turn sound effects off. I recommend adding your own tunes as you curse. Otherwise it's a solid FUN before you smash your keyboard to pieces.
