NOX: Chapter 1 is a first-person puzzle game, where the player has to make use of gravity changes, gravity shifts and portals to explore the dreams and nightmares of a child. All this, in a world inspired by the work of Escher.

Really cool experience. It's a pshychological horror game with a cool setting and a nice twist on the perspective mechanic. The art in this game is where I believe it really shines though I also think that the programmers came up with clever solutions to the photographs mechanic. The story is a bit abstract as intended but really cool. Looking forward for Chapter 2.

That was fun. Trippy. But fun. Am I dreaming? Am I having a nightmare? Aaah!
9/10 A 1st person puzzle game where you walk around rooms with changing gravity and curved spaces. Good: - free (prologue/Chapter 1) - original idea of the puzzles. They write that it's Escher but really it's not. Escher drew pictures of impossible geometry that looked okay at first glance in 2D. But in this game you have rooms that have each of the 6 sides act like a floor with objects (chairs, tables) standing on them, and you can crawl onto a wall like a cockroach using a set of stairs or a ramp. Rooms rotate to match your position so that you'd always walk up straight. It's hard to explain until you see and try it yourself. It's definitely novel and worth a look - 2D art (pictures on walls, sheets of paper and much more) is very imaginative. It depicts some crazy kid's life - 3D objects are great as well. There are chairs that walk like spiders. There are paper airplanes suspended in the air. The design of spaces is just fantastic, it reminds an artistic installation. Not sure I've ever seen such interesting spaces in a game before. 3D design of the rooms is the highlight of this game So-so: - it's mostly about walking. So it feels lacking in actual gameplay. During walking you often don't really know what you are doing. Though the first level is pretty straightforward and you can't miss the correct way. So it ends up confusing and shocking for a while, though you generally feel that not much depends on you and you go the correct way and only see afterwards it was correct - the common puzzle is when you pick up a photo and need to find a 2D view of a wall or corridor that matches the photo, except on the photo there is an additional door or a corridor - and those appear after you've matched the photo to the correct location. This minigame is somewhat annoying after a while Bad: - the "run" scene took me at least 6 attempts, maybe more. Then there is a "follow" scene which I couldn't get through after some 8-10 attempts. I'm not sure if it's bugged or just too difficult, or what's even required there. Not sure it's the end of chapter 1. The "run" scene is quite annoying because it's difficult enough to figure out the 3D geometry, and it here it forces you to do it quickly. Maybe timed tasks aren't a good fit for this convoluted geometry context Overall, it seems to be a very interesting and unique idea coming from artists. But so far it mostly relies on the first "wow" effect and then on the 2D/3D art. There isn't much gameplay in this, and the first excitement fades. I'm not sure what the puzzles could be here. It feels like a good demo but misses something to be a finished experience. Hopefully they add something in the full game. Giving 9/10 because it's still an incredible experience which is definitely worth checking out just to appreciate the geometry and innovative idea. Such a cool and bizarre game. The story is not totally clear, which is good because it really ads to the mystery of this game. The mechanics are really simple but the game is still not boring. And its FREE. I can really highly recommend it and hope that there will be more
