Needs more bees
In spite of its severe lack of bees, Nova Flow delivers strongly in all other aspects. Thrown straight into the action with just enough tutorial direction to get you started, the gameplay allows for multiple approaches to each level, ranging from straightforward to absolutely bizarre. The difficulty and level design feel consistently fair, with some large, but entirely overcomable difficulty spikes in the later levels that bring a sense of pride and accomplishment not seen since EA's Star Wars Battlefront II. The music fits the fast-paced neon retro theme of the game perfectly, with some of the tracks being more than catchy enough to be stuck in your head all day. Great game, especially for the tiny price tag. 10/10 would go fast again.
The game isn't that good. I am a fan of 3D indie platformers, but this one is... a little on the bad side. The difficulty of the game is extremely easy and had very little trouble beating the game under 2 hours. Which $7 for 2 hours isn't that good. I have more hours logged due to replaying the game a few times. The parts that are difficult are very cheap deaths. Most of your deaths will be because of some mechanic that had to be done at the last second. Difficulty shouldn't come from challenging the player's mechanics or pulling a cheap "we are going to move this platform in front of you when you shoot the red ball... so that you get hit LOL!" Actual innovative gameplay would be nice. The bounce, speed, and climb mechanic isn't revolutionary and I get that. What I don't get is how you utilize it. The platforming could be so much more creative, but it isn't.
Really liked this game, It got surprisingly difficult towards the end which was great, Physics are also very nice along with the performance. just an all round nice experience. If you like 3D platforming with challenge to it then you'd like this game.
Nova Flow is a fast-paced first-person-platformer, with a bit of "puzzle platformer" mixed in. The main story took me about an hour, and I'll probably go through and play some of the Bonus Levels. Some of the later levels got a bit finicky with the platforming, but overall the levels felt fair and fun. The Dev Times for the individual levels I tried were surprisingly hard to beat, so there's a lot of room for small optimzation if you're into the racing aspect of the game. I think the challenge to get a "Gold Time" on the individual levels gives the game some replayability. The visuals and sound were interesting, but nothing spectacular. Overall, worth picking up off- or on-sale if you enjoy fast-paced platforming.
Loving this game so far. Fantastic concept executed really well; the level design and audio are particular highlights. When you get the rhythm of the level and the 'flow' kicks in then I think you could play for hours trying to get the platinum medals, especially on the 'speedrun' levels...! Can't wait to see more from this developer.
me step on blue. me go speed
Easy game to play, difficult to master. Best fun I've ever had with primary colours! I'm not one that plays a lot of speed running type games nor do I speed run games in general, I tend to play more simulator type games but from the moment I started playing this game it was a fantastic experience. The controls are super easy to get a grasp of but when you throw speed in to the mix as well as many different game mechanics you can easy become confused and use the wrong colour at the wrong moment which makes you laugh at yourself in frustration. There are many different mechanics and obstacles that are evenly introduced so when you think you have a grip on the game and think you are starting to get good something else is thrown at you to over come. There are also different paths you can take and you can capitalise on some of the mechanics so definately take your time and experiment and see how you can best your time. The soundtrack to this game is really good and energetic, it really fits in with the pace of the game and it helps keep your adrenaline pumping! From the moment I starting playing this I was getting rushes of adrenaline and when you have a really good run you get a sense of satisfaction that keeps you wanting more. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. The format is basic in itself but it took me back to when games were simple and the more simple a game the more a wider audience can enjoy it as there aren't any steep learning curves to this... Just skill and an appreciation for your reflexes. After almost three hours of game play I looked at my shaky hands and felt exhilaration. I really look forward to playing more of this title, I can see myself sinking more than a few more hours into it and look forward to playing this with friends and comparing times. Great to see an Australian indie developer throwing their hat in the ring and making something decent that everyone can enjoy. Thumbs up!
GREAT GAME, GREAT PACE AND SOMETHING LOTS OF GAMES LACK... ENJOYABILITY!! What it dosn't make up for in design, aesthetics and multiplayer it makes up for in enjoyment. It truly is a great game and I reccommend to all even those who are not a fan of the genre. It will get you hooked.
It's a fun time, an intense action platformer. Will say, I am biased since I worked on it, but still, GIVE IT A GO!
