Thus, the game "HUH?: and the Adventures of something" was removed from Steam, then re-released under a new name and re-downloaded and available for purchase... What a smart move (definitely not). I guess, they did the same with another games, such as ApplePop. I'm not sure if this is really justified. It would be much more important to show players new projects than to try to get money and attention for old games under new names. That's why I'm leaving negative feedback.
"NOT the Hero" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. But this one has a special distinction... like other games from this GameMaker Studio copy + paste shovelware pusher, this has already been dumped on Steam. Since the developer has no qualms copy + pasting their games onto Steam, I'll paraphrase my previous review for one of these deleted/republished pollution games. "NOT the Hero" is rather unusual for GameMaker Studio shovelware/pollution in that it's already been published on Steam as "HUH?: and the Adventures of something", and then removed... in fact just about every game this developer published on Steam prior to 2023 has been removed... by Valve, or self terminated? Who knows. Anyway, this is "HUH?: and the Adventures of something", a very lazy bit of GameMaker Studio low effort shovelware here on Steam as a cash grab. The game is a little unusual in terms of gameplay, but being unusual doesn't make it good. It's a 2D retro platformer/shooter, and it uses the rare but far from unique concept that you need to die a few times to finish a level, by exploding yourself to kill enemies and so on. Published on Steam, kicked off Steam, then published on Steam again, and played by nobody, because it's garbage. What a roller coaster ride through the lands of mediocrity. Anyway here's why you shouldn't buy this game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The visuals in this game are a complete joke, it's seriously just a bunch of MS-Paint sprites/images that look like they were lazily scrawled out over the space of a couple of hours. Like, with the mouse, it doesn't look like they even used a Wacom tablet or anything. It's so bad even pixel "art" would look better than this. Pure MSPaint. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low, enough on its own to deter gamers. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", StarSystemStudios has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. "NOT the Hero" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Not the Hero is an indie 2D platformer game where you have to clear every level to progress to the final boss. I didn't find the game funny, nor challenging, nor enjoyable. The gameplay is average, the controls are clunky, the jokes are silly, the artwork is low quality. Overall, not recommended. 2/10.

Sadly nothing interesting to be found -_-
Easy achievements!
Reminds me of old flash games. Its becomes tiring from Zone 3 onwards.

This is the most emo game I have ever played in my life, you kill yourself to kill enemies and get through the level, throwing your self on spikes to clear gaps while sad but catchy "she left me and i want to kill myself" emo rock music plays on loop in the background as you suicide yourself through the levels to the final boss, all while ebin/epic meme phrases pop up like spam and giant multi-color weed leaves cycle through soft neon colors in the background. IF THIS GAME COULD SLIT ITS OWN WRIST IT WOULD! ITS THAT EMO! LMAO! There is no credits for the songs in the background so I did a ton of research going down the google lyric rabbit hole. There's only 2 songs that play on loop back to back, and they are: 1. Citizen Soldier - Caroline 2. Mindslip - Jade The first one was easy to find, the second one I almost gave up on because it was almost impossible to find. Once you know the song names they are really easy to find on youtube. Enjoy!
