Voto: 6,5/10 e lode
There aren't a whole lot of point and click adventure games where you can say the whole point is to warm the heart of the player. Nordlicht on the other hand is one such game. Practically everything about this game feels like it was made for the sole purpose of brightening your spirit. The Story: A family overcoming challenges to see each other. The Gameplay: Simple and easy to understand. The Graphics: Colorful, stylized and tickles the imagination the same way opening a children's picture book would. The characters in particular are very adorable to look at. The Music: Calm and relaxing, which is perhaps the cherry on top for the atmosphere of this game. The only complaint I can give is that it seems to attract certain fantasy and science fiction elements in ways that would intrigue the player, but are either ignored once explored or never explored all together. Which I find disappointing because if you were to put in a stone altar that apparently leads to another world or statues whose eyes light up for specific reasons, why wouldn't you go further with those elements? But I digress. Apart from the missed opportunities stated above, Nordlicht is still a relaxing and calming game at its core. Playing it will remind you of those childhood memories of getting yourself ready for school, hiking on a camping trip or even just heading out of town to see other family. If you're having a bad day and just need some cheering up, go ahead and play this. You won't regret it.
Pros - Game is very beautiful, lovely art-style, nice music. - Puzzles are simple but enjoyable. There is also a kind of sailing mini-game thing that might not be to everyone's taste but does add a bit of variety to the typical inventory based point and click puzzles. - Sweet and poignant story - Well written dialog - Show hot-spots tool. Cons - Moving is very slow - No graphical, audio or game-play settings. - The inventory interface was kind of odd in that you had two different views, Its almost as if they realized late on in the development that the original horizontal bar design was problematic for combining items since you can't scroll so they added a vertical menu as well (although not sure why they just wouldn't have added the ability to scroll.) Or maybe they game is also available on mobile and its something related to that. Regardless its a bit weird but not too much of an inconvenience. - Game is very short but in fairness I think its reasonably priced for the content. - There is some minor bugs but also there is a major one at the end; if you open the time capsule then the game gets stuck and you can't continue. You need to control-alt-delete, kill the game and start over from your last save. - No Auto-Save (would have been really handy for when encountering the time capsule bug) Overall despite the problems I had fun playing it. Just remember to save often. Recommended.
