Didn't have many expectations coming to this game, but I do not regret at all buying it. Besides all the glitches and bugs the game still has, as the developer is using community feedback on the games' Discord server to fix issues, I really enjoyed playing this game. The controls are pretty smooth, the characters are interesting and lively, the world itself is gourgeous, all the enemies are fun to fight, some much more annoying than others, the Bosses aren't the hardest, but I didn't expect them to, and the fights were still very enjoyable. The story itself i very emotional and captivating, with the ending being very poignant. I know this game will likely never get added content besides maybe a new game mode and a few achivements, but I really hope one day the developer is capable of coming back to the game and expand it so they include the
scraped Blue Forest explorable parts
, as exploration was what i loved most about this game and I would love to explore the beautiful world and landscape the developer made further! Overall, not a perfect game, it wasn't that long, it took me 6 hours to beat because i explored a lot, but i bet anyone can beat this game in around 3 hours. The end part of the game CAN get confusing since it felt rushed and short. But even then, taking everything into account, especially since this is made by 1 singular dev, the quality of this game is above many big studio games. In a 0 to 10 rating, I'd probably give it an 8.5.

Game is really cosy! ...except for the combat, it just ain't it unfortunately. That first boss is Dark Souls material I swear. Low range on the attacks and weird ass hitboxes. I did beat said first boss but... I'm not playing the rest of the game since I don't like the combat much. Shame.
When it comes to recommending this game, especially to my close friends, I just can't. The gameplay has too many issues, such as bugs and horrible controls/input responsiveness. However, I still gave it a positive review because of the lore and story. I absolutely love the storytelling. So my suggestion is this: if you like the key visuals and the premise, give the game a try for up to two hours. If you can't put up with the gameplay, you can always refund it. In conclusion, I love this game very much, but it's difficult for me to recommend it to others.
W game W story
Got blinded by a flash bug, and then snatched up by an eagle before I could recover. This is my kind of game :)
I picked up No Name Village after seeing the trailer on YouTube, and I have to say, the stunning pixel art graphics immediately won me over. The visual style is definitely the game's strongest suit. After spending some time with it, here is my honest take on the pros and cons. Pros (+): Graphics: Absolutely gorgeous pixel art. It's clear a lot of love went into the environments and character design. Gameplay: The core loop feels very pleasant and satisfying to engage with. It’s smooth and enjoyable. Story: The narrative is quite interesting and kept me hooked for the most part. (Though it does have some issues, which I'll mention below). Sound Design: The sound effects and ambient audio really help to build the world and immerse you in the experience. Mixed (+-): Difficulty: Most of the boss fights are on the easier side. I only struggled with two of them—specifically, the final boss took me several tries to figure out. The rest were generally manageable on the first attempt. Cons (-): Bugs (The biggest issue): This is where the game falls apart a bit. It is full of bugs. The game would also freeze periodically, which made certain sections even more frustrating. I constantly found myself clipping through textures. During the final boss fight, the enemy would frequently glitch outside the map boundaries and just shoot me from somewhere I couldn't reach or fight back. Rushed Ending: The conclusion feels very rushed and messy. The entire game is a slow, atmospheric exploration of the surroundings, but the finale has a completely different, much more chaotic pace. It felt disjointed from the rest of the experience. Final Thought: It's a game with a lot of heart and great art direction, but the technical issues are hard to ignore. Also, as a Russian speaker, I would love to see a translation added for my language in a future update.
A ton of fun! The bosses are great, and I'm really digging the story so far! I like how there are quest objectives are vauge, makes me explore the beautiful area with a seriously charming soundtrack. It gives cozey stardew vibes with gameplay of the og legend of zelda. (which is a great thing). I've been playing on the steam deck, the controls are set to key and mouse, but it want hard to get the controls down. If you are looking for an interesting cozey combat game to sink hours in, then look no further. I'd easily pay $20, so get it ASAP
The story was good and did a good job of exploring its themes. The gameplay between the two boys is interesting. The pressure created by the crack in the sky and the blue forest was amazing. And the final chapter was really good. I didn't like the fact that monsters can kill you in the menu because of that I died way too many times, I got softlock one time and I had a big bug that turned Morn into a ghost. Also, I got some softlock bugs several times with the climbing area of the cave. A lagspike in one area of the winter zone (the one with the train) and during one attack of the final boss even though I never lag in way bigger games. But overall the game was great, a 6/10. If these performance issues and bugs are fixed I will give it a 8/10. spoiler: I love how reg become more and more useful each chapter, it’s make loosing him for the last one even more impactful for the player. Same thing with ruben with the fast travel cutscene missing after his death. Funfact, in the last chapter I interact with the boat travel point that I missing during all the game and Morn had a dialogue with Ruben's ghost. It made me burst out laughing.
Good game!
Strenghts: - awesome artstyle and ambience; - the plot, even though I'd have loved to see it unfold more, is captivating as well as mature; - exploration is fun, but I would love to see more collectibles/loot to pay off the player; - game progression is linear and clear, as you always basically know what to do or where to go. However, envisaging ìmore mandatory items (such as happens with the saw or the bomb "ingredients") to progress in new areas could make it even better; Weaknesses: - music is repetitive and should vary more imho; - combat can be a little bit tiring at times. E.g.; super-early enemies (tadpoles) require a "strong" attack to pull 'em from underground. Buuut, since you start with 0 upgrades on your weapons this process has to be repeated at least twice to kill a single enemy and basically makes fighting or just farming a little bit jarring. (Another )E.g.: some enemies spam attacks with aoe hitboxes (Sand-castle bugs in Autumn map and turtles in Winter Map) that require you to wait some time before even considering to engage them; - terrain bug when you climb over ledges (especially at intersection between horizontal and vertical edges) is a thing. - Short duration: please, give us 3-4 more hours of gameplay, dev-sama! Overall, I believe that playing this game has been some quality time for me, hence I do reccomend it to anyone else liking 2D top-down exploration/action games.
