While playing this game I don't really know what to think about it. For sure the art and graphics are incredibly beautiful and the dev put a lot of time into this game but the controls feel so wrong and off. First of all movement is locked to only arrow keys as the key binds don't work and if you try and change the key binds, it bricks your save as you can't go back to the settings. The saving mechanic is also frustrating as it uses your last auto save even if your manual save is the latest one. This caused me to relog a few times thinking my save was lost. There are also a few bugs in the game especially in the first proportion of the
cave
where I got stuck in a climbing spot unable to leave. Upon restarting the auto save spawned me back in the broken spot in pitch darkness forcing me to go back to an older save. Also some of the missions don't explain what to do so I feel lost and not knowing what to do. Healing isn't explained at all in the game and it randomly appears as a button. I only found out about healing because I was looking at the Key bind settings. Overall I think its a 50/50 game. Buy it if you want a cute story but beware their are issues with the game. I'll update this review when I 100% this game and complete the story, maybe it will improve.
The game in my opinion has an interesting story. At least for me it is, but unfortunately it is really bugged making it difficult to not roll your eyes when you have close it and relaunch it. But to be fair those bugs don't pop up every second it's just they have the habit of happening when I'm immersed or focused. So I'm sure one can understand why that's annoying So pros: - generally fun - learning curve ain't difficult - nice soundtrack cons: - Still buggy - Maps can be a bit confusing in the sense you are not aware you could walk in a certain direction - some things require a bit of a tutorial like I figured upgrades on my own, but there is nothing that tells you "You can upgrade stuff here, and this upgrade will cost X number of points". Not talking about "Hand-Holding" just a sense of direction. So for the price and given it's an indie game...I would say it's alright. Despite my complaints I am having fun. Question to the dev though: What the heck is that ending? It feels like a cliffhanger, if you're planning for a sequel then you got me hooked but if there is a hidden meaning I'm not getting I would appreciate it if you are anyone really can elaborate on it.......because right now I feel confused.
Amazing game! I saw this on YouTube and fell in love with the graphics and gameplay, i havent played my steam deck in awhile and this was perfect for that. I got even more excited when I saw it was out and on sale. Playing through was a huge experience. I loved the gameplay and the story, it always made me more curious and wanting to play more. The boss fights were awesome and the final boss fight was one of the best ive had in a long time. I was sad when I beat it since it ment it was all over. There is a few glitches that I had to exit the game and open it up again but it was minor and didnt ruin the experience or my progress. compared to current day games, this is by far way better to play. I Give this a 9.5/10. Great story, great gameplay and graphics, i loved it. It was awesome. Hope the developer makes more like this.
I really loved this game. I honestly got it because of how beautiful the art is. The landscapes, the playable characters and the enemies; they are all so unique and lovely. It really has those cozy vibes even though you have to fight literally everything you see haha. The combat system was kinda tricky at the start, but it gets easier the more you play, and you even get to enjoy it :). The enemies' animations are also a work of art. I loved the story, but I don't want to spoil a thing so I won't get into detail :) To conclude, I'd like to say: yes, as you may read in other reviews, this game had some bugs when it first came out. But, in my experience, most of them didn't really affect the gameplay. And even when I had one that DID affect the gameplay, I sent a report to the game's discord and the dev fixed it in a matter of seconds. So, if you want to get the game but are scared of the bugs because of the other reviews, don't be! I assure you, you'll be able to enjoy the game without any major issue. And it's really worth it. 💖
(Long review. No major spoilers.) Let's start with the negatives: Game feels very unpolished. Lots of bugs and minor inconveniences. For example, selecting "Continue" on the Title Screen will continue from the latest auto-save, ignoring your manual saves. Or how there's an area full of enemies that is composed of an interactive floor, and since "Interact" and "Attack" are the same button, you'll keep opening an interface (with no pause btw) while trying to attack. Another thing is how you'll often get stuck while rolling (though rolling again will generally unstuck you), or how sometimes characters will make water splashes when on top of a cliff near water (obviously not intended), or when you just get stuck into a death loop because a monkey grabbed you via bluetooth (yes, that happened). You see, normally all these would be just small nitpicks. But there's just... so many of them. This is not even close to a comprehensive list, and it really adds up over time and takes away from the experience. For example (again), the game will highlight things you can interact with, even those you can't interact with currently. That, by itself, is not a bad thing (although I would add a dialogue to explain that it's not useful for now or something), because it shows the player that the thing will be important later. The problem is that, in a game riddled with bugs like this, your first instinct will be that something is wrong and that you should be able to interact with it but can't because it's bugged. Oh, and did I mention it doesn't actually highlight all the interactables? So sometimes you won't even realize you can interact with something until an hour later? Yeah, that sucks. Anyway, negatives aside, the game looks absolutely stunning. One of the prettiest pixelarts I've seen, and there's quite a few really cool cutcenes (you can see some in the trailer). I'm a big fan of the map system. Searching for the landmarks (or... you know what) and encircling the unknown regions to unlock them added a lot to the exploration experience. My only gripe with it (besides the several visual bugs) is that it doesn't update old regions as the game progresses, so it ends up looking like an odd patchwork by the end of it (though the visual grew on me over time). Combat is decent. Basic 2D hack n'slash. The game adds some complexity by allowing you to switch to your friend, which starts as a mere gimmick but becomes quite interesting later in the game. Enemies are very gimmicky as well, even the basic ones, which adds some variation, and you get strong enough to ignore their mechanics eventually, so you don't get tired of them. Story is... pretty good. Nothing out of this world, but the setting is quite unique, and it develops in an interesting way. I won't spoil more than that, of course, but it left me somewhat satisfied. Only somewhat because the ending is quite confusing (I'll rewatch it later to see if I can understand it better), but I think it has nice closure. In the end, I had fun with it. If you like this sort of game (top-down 2D pixelart hack n'slash story-focused indie), you'll probably enjoy it as well. But, as another reviewer said, be prepared to roll your eyes whenever you have to relaunch the game because of a bug... or just because you hit continue by mistake—which happened more often than I like to admit.
Should not be a full release. I have played twice and required to create a bug report both times. I gave it a couple of days and experienced more issues. This game should have gone into early access and required more testing.
Really good game! The story and characters are well-written and super interesting. Combat feels a bit weird at first, but once you get into it, it’s a lot of fun. The last 3 bosses are really well done, and the animations, music and cutscenes throughout the game are fantastic. Sure, there are a few small issues here and there, but nothing gamebreaking - most of them are even kinda charming.
I really like this!! I hope it gets more fixes soon. some bits are a bit buggy, for example: rolling and running diagonally don't always work. wonderful pixel work.
Beautiful, but frustratingly buggy and uncomfortable to play. I am thinking on getting money back.
