A badly made, badly crafted excuse of a semi-psychological, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ jumpscare “horror” game where discount RakeXShadowman squeezes into the most unscary, ridiculous places to scare you and defies physics just to be intimidating. 1 Out Of 5 (Out Of Pity) <- Full Review Being Moved, Keep Your Horses Held.
This game made me terrified of simple tasks such as crossing the streets to pick my fallen teeth
I bought this game on sale for $1.72 and beat the game in 25 minutes. The regular price of this game I just noticed is $11.49! Even at $1.72 I feel ripped off! I can't believe people paid over $10.00 for this low budget indie 25 minute game. This world still continues to amaze me.
I'll say this, it's far from the scariest horror game ever but it does have some really good jumpscares in it. Overall this game is good enough to recommend, it's really weird and while it is confusing you it'll scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of you. I think my major problem with the game was it had no end credits or at least they didn't role for me, it basically got to the end and the pause menu popped up. Pros: + Alright graphics + Alright story (there should be a lot more to tell the player why all of this is happening) + Actually good jumpscares + Alright puzzles, not easy to fail Cons: - Game pauses at the end to tell you the game has ended - The enemy in the hallway of doors got stuck on the first door so i didn't have to worry about it Full Playthrough and Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ukhemJb-5M Steam Curator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/10995314-Szamer%2527s-Collection/
Very short horror mystery game. All right for less than a buck.
NMNE is a fairly basic Unity asset flipped first person horror adventure, one of many hundreds, if not thousands of these glutting Steam. The Russian "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, arranged them haphazardly in a first person adventure game template with a remarkably familiar apartment building asset, and submitted it to Apple and Google as if they're real game developers. Turns out Apple and Google don't filter for asset flips either, just like Valve. Regardless, this asset flip features boldly on the app stores and was designed primarily as a mobile app. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the mobile app, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This mobile app fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. I dare say in this case the Russian dev spent more money on the fake reviews for this crap than they did for the assets (but those are often just pirated in these cases). Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The mobile app assets are far from bleeding edge, with lowish polygon counts and somewhat low resolution textures, making this look like it's at least 10 years old. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks poor in comparison to more professionally produced games as a result of their decisions. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This mobile app features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the mobile app launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the mobile app, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this mobile app should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $10 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Who do they think we are?
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this mobile app as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the mobile app (to date). Until this status changes, this mobile app will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this mobile app.
