I went into this almost completely blind, and somehow it still managed to be nothing like I expected. What I got was a weird, cozy, funny, melancholy, sharply written game with a fantastic art style, a great soundtrack, and a tone that shifts in ways I did not see coming. The visual style holds up extremely well because it is so stylized, the autumn atmosphere is excellent, and the writing does a lot of heavy lifting. The dialogue has a ton of personality, the characters feel distinct, and even the random side conversations give the town a real sense of identity. A lot of the humor landed for me, but the game also has real emotional weight and gets into some genuinely grounded, messy human stuff without feeling fake about it. What surprised me most was how much I ended up caring about the characters and their relationships. The whole thing has that very specific feeling of coming back to a place that is familiar but no longer fits the version of you that left it, and it captures that really well. There is a lot of tension between nostalgia, stagnation, responsibility, mental strain, and the desire to escape, and the game gets a lot of mileage out of just letting people talk. I also liked how chill most of it felt moment to moment. For a lot of the game, you are just walking around town, checking in with people, soaking in the vibe, and letting the story build. That slower pace worked for me. That said, it is not for everyone. This is very story and character driven, and a lot of the appeal lives in the writing, tone, atmosphere, and conversations rather than traditional gameplay. The rhythm sections were easily my least favorite part. I am bad at rhythm games to begin with, and those parts were more annoying than fun for me. The story also gets very strange and deliberately disorienting at points, and while I found that interesting, I can also see some people bouncing off it. Even then, I stayed invested because the game has such a strong voice. All in all, I really liked it. It is unique, funny, sad, intimate, stylish, and memorable. It gave me that rare feeling where I finished it and immediately started thinking about what it was really doing underneath the surface. I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you like strong writing, character-heavy games, and a very specific small-town autumn mood.

good story, good game 7/10
I think calling this game a masterpiece is an understatement, It changed my life in so many ways and humanized (Animalized?) so many mental health issues I actively struggle with. Big fan but a little upset you cant kiss bea 10/10
It’s one of my favorite story games of all time Germ is literally me
To be completely honest, so much of this game is subpar, the characters aren't exactly likeable, the gameplay loop is repetitive and boring, and the story does a lot of "we're not going to explain that"... yet somehow this game is absolutely worth playing, if not because the story does get interesting to the point you consider playing through a second time with the knowledge you obtain at the end of the game. The game is essentially a not quite insufferable, more interactive visual novel.
Kind of permanently and fondumentally changed the way I think about my life and our world as a whole 7/10
