About
New Meat is a fast-paced horror-comedy roguelite about burgers, monsters and dead-end jobs. You play as Niko, the new hire at a remote burger establishment named Burger Site, and it's your job to keep the freezers stocked with meat for the hungry customers to munch on. How do you do that? Simple! Just head down to the horrible sprawling flesh-dungeon underneath the building and blast a few of the roaming monsters into delicious meaty chunks! Just make sure they don't take a bite out of you, first.
Survive five days of mayhem to earn your place as a permanent hire, and if you do really well, possibly even more. Anything can happen in the Meat Dungeon, and there are lots of secrets to find...though you might not like what you see.
Tons of builds! With 120 equipment pieces, 36 legendary weapons, 50 game-changing magic curios, and a stat progression system that puts you in complete control of your character's growth, every run promises a unique and wild new build!
A unique progression system! Some roguelites let you continually build up your stats between runs, while others are one-and-done. New Meat combines these two formats in a unique way, taking place over five days and allowing you to build up your stats more and more with each passing day. But, Day Five is the cutoff, and after that you're judged and start the whole week again. It's a hybrid system that should appeal to every kind of roguelite fan!
Every stat counts! Your character stats aren't just for fighting. They help with dungeoneering, too! Raise your Attack to more easily break open barrels and chests. Raise your Defense to reduce damage from hazards, or your Agility to gain a chance to dodge them altogether. Think Luck is useless? Higher Luck gets you more AND BETTER loot from chests!
Permadeath? Not exactly! Death isn't the end in the Meat Dungeon. No matter how well or poorly you do, you'll always be on track for one of the game's many endings. There's just as much to see and learn in failure as there is in success, so take your lumps and accept your fate, whatever it might end up being. (You still might want to avoid dying if you can help it, though.)
Innovative "Triple-Take Dialogue System!" New Meat is built for replayability from the ground up, and that even includes the cutscenes. The unique "Triple-Take Dialogue System" ensures that cutscenes will stay fresh even across many playthroughs.
12 Endings! This game tracks your progress closely and judges you carefully. There are many ways your first week on the job can play out. In some of the endings, you even survive!
And plenty of secrets to find! But that's up to you.

Excellent scenario, incredible build variety and a fun loop I do think that some form of rebalance with how the stat foods work would be good for another avenue of progression to go down, as currently they're a form of resource management that feels unsatisfying but necessary due to it basically boiling down to how much money and luck can you reinvest back into your god stat for the run Otherwise, though, a very fun and furious experience
Pretty good, looking forward to more upcoming games from this dev too.
"you ready for another fun-filled adventure keeping our low-margin business model viable" 💖🫀🖤 🟩 interesting and unique, neat theme, fun variety 🔷 eventually i was just rushing through the rooms trying to get to the bosses 🔴 some clunky jankiness from the engine, some repetitive tedium vibes: minimum wage grind loops: enter the basement of a fast food restaurant and go through a meat dungeon fighting meat monsters to get enough meat to meet your quota. there's no leveling, instead you find equipment, items, and use money to buy stat upgrades. ramblings: i quite like this, it has a really neat idea that it executes well, it has a nice goofy fun feel to it. there is overall a roughness to it though, some of it due to the engine. i liked the music ok enough the first few times i heard it, that didn't last since it gets repetitive real fast. it tries its best to recreate a roguelike experience within its engine limitations, does it fairly decently. with one exception, it relies on item containers, way too much. each room will have multiple, sometimes a dozen or more. i just started ignoring them instead of opening them, simply because it was too mind-numbing. other than that, i enjoyed going through the game and getting (nearly) all the endings. verdicts: it's rough around the edges but it's charmingly fun. it would have been nice to have a way to keep track of the endings though, and i wish there had been more interaction with the other staff characters. America Is Burger. this game is brilliant, an unfettered, uncensored, unafraid, and unabashedly a bold anti capitalist metaphor. new meat is a brilliantly addictive turn based jrpg roguelite that is as bleakly brutal and boldly gross *existentially* as it is extremely funny and thoughtfully self aware of living in the situation put forward by capitalism that forces us to "just take the burger job, if you need money, theres always mcdonalds" and puts it under a masterfully applied a tightly understood microscope of the worst parts of capitalism to live under that are supposed to be the dregs remaining to save us. america is burger, and this game gets it. there is nothing more to do then the money that it makes and wants of you, you can only be punished and forced to be setup for failure of an ever increasing quota and goal you can never truly possibly meat without giving up your life to the soulless carcasses that live in the restaurant underground. you feel at the core that the dev has been here, worked it, they understand, and as a result they made an untouchably hilarious masterpiece of a game which i do not say lightly. this game is so funny and relentless with its bleaknesss and meaningful social commentary, as a girl who worked at mcdonalds and knows that you still are execpted to do more than everything even more than you do in a corporate job only to be put in a position of a job that is made for a turnover expecting you to fail so that you can continually be paid less than your predecessor or successor at all no matter and regardless of what you do. the goal of america is to fire you before they have to pay you for having made you do more than youre physically capable of in life so that you have no energy left to live or fight for, and by goddesss does it work better than you ever could have imagined in the form of a rougelite by using the genre conventions inherently present that make a player more likely to push and take risks than they usually would is a genius way of not only commentating on the job mindset created by capitalism; but also an unexpectedly madcap brilliant move to force the players into the position of feeling the commentary for/about. new meat is a burden, you are a burden of new meat, your body is meat and you are the new meat to this capitalism system and all you ever are or will and can be is more new meat to the fire. a beef to the pile a cow to be butchered all the while. oh and yeah make no mistake, this game is incredibly fun to play masterpiece as a roguelite too, it moves at an addictive pace, gives a means around every type of gameplay related or environmental trap situation, has impeccable monster designs (seriously the bosses have some of the best splatter punk pixel art ever and you dont have to like roguelites at all even), but frankly the cohesion of the two mechanics works so well that i could hardly think of anything else but the brilliant commentary in any case, you are new meat recruit. you mean nothing under capitalism but bones to the meat monster underground waiting to recycle you -- but new meat the game, is worth so much more than that or anything what a burger joint could charge you for even with an employee bonus as a *discount*, and i wouldnt have this enigmatic maniac masterpiece be any other way new meat is a masterpiece of a game, and you should be making sure you play it today. your shift is waiting, dont forget to make sure to clock in, even if you cant understand how to navigate windows 95' much love and take care, ashliana <3333333 dev, please keep it up, and keep making updates to this amazing game or i will simply just follow whatever updates there are to be had on your next project. thank you so much for brgining this (your) work of art into the world
Fun lil romp of a roguelike, though I am struggling to reach some of the later levels.
A fun little roguelike! I'm not really great at turn-based combat, but once I'd gotten a good build set up, I had a blast mowing down enemy after enemy. The music picked for the game is great, and I really like the enemy designs and boss designs! Did a couple of playthroughs and got a few endings. I think there's a final boss/true ending that I've not figured out how to get to yet, but I'll probably revisit this game at some point and try to figure that out! It's a fun game, I had fun playing it!
A surprisingly fun rpgmaker game with some solid music and replayability. Worth the price.
A wonderful food/horror RPG game
Neat and fun little game that manages to make turn-based combat feel fast-paced and exciting. Very replayable with plenty of different loot and gear that makes for different runs. Kinda wish there were more secrets, more interactable stuff, and more areas to explore, but there's still enough here to be satisfying.
three hours at the time of this review but it felt like i was engrossed for way longer. personally never thought an RPGmaker rougelite would work but they managed to pull it off. fun story/writing, fun game, you get to fight these weird meatball dudes. cool as. definitely not slop. probably one of my fav lesser known RPGmaker games on the platform
