My "No" recommendation is based on the fact that it's over in about 12 minutes. It's a little creepy, but most of that is "fill in the blanks in your mind" creepy and not actually anything shown or done In the game creepy. There's at least a few hours of story that could exist in this game, and the mechanic is simple enough that it feels weird that they didn't extend it out at all from their original itch.io release over a year ago. You might dig it, but I'd recommend you wait for a sale to get decent ROI out of it, and just go into it knowing that you'll leave with more irritating questions than satisfying answers.
Super short "Haunted Desktop" game. It's the usual, sit in front of a old school operating system, and try and piece together what happened to the owner of the computer while it behaves like it's possessed (think Simulacra but on a desktop computer and not a phone). There really isn't that much here, and I don't think this does things that much differently than others in the genre, at least after it start to repeat the same puzzle several times. It was never especially tricky, you'll probably beat it in 30 - 40 minutes, slightly more if you take your time. But it's also super cheep. It does feel a bit more like proof of concept than a full fledged game, so my hope is that the devs can do something more substatial in the future, since there is quite a bit lore in the game that they can build upon. The achievements unlock when you beat the game, but there are really only two, and if you missed one of them you can breeze through the game in like a few minutes when you know what to do.
I've taken a brief foray into PC-interface horror and mystery games and the first one today was New Folder. A recently released psychological horror centring on Sue Nguyen, New Folder is about a 25yo woman working for a newspaper, she is offered the job of investigating a cult in the local area but discovers a bigger mystery. The whole game should last around 30-minutes. I just love the art style, screens and interactivity. You can open folders, move files around, delete and restore, and even interact with the backgrounds in some cases. There are realistic video clips and passwords to enter - it's just very simple to figure out so it's not REALLY a puzzle game. It's more an exploratory mystery. I found the game overall quite tragic, it made me feel depressed when I finished it. I then went searching for more similar games. An easy 100% completion - run the game like normal and also create a new folder on the desktop to get the last achievement. This game only has one ending. Worth a purchase on sale.
Eng and Pt-Br review

Eng and Pt-Br review
It’s one of those short horror games where you explore someone’s PC to find out what happened to them. It’s quick and decent, straight to the point and the puzzles are easy.
very short but incredibly charming and fleshed out. the puzzles were very simple. if you're at all a fan of simulacra or other games, this game does a really great job at meeting its narrative with its aesthetics and gameplay. Although it only took me about 20-30 minutes i still thinks its a lovely and worthwhile experience. Also, the videos reminded me of old slenderman youtube channels (marble hornets, everyman hybrid etc) and they genuinely got me a bit antsy, theyre unsettling and well done.
Really more a horror game than a detective one to me. The atmosphere takes precedence over logical thinking and puzzle solving tests. It is also, as many have said, very short, a less than 20 minute playthrough time for me. I am not of the opinion that a game must be long to be worthwhile, but as others have noted, beyond being what many might consider a value issue (particularly when not on sale), I think the sale price of 1.60 I got it for was fine, the length is ultimately a pacing issue. The ideas of the game, mechanical and thematic alike, are not explored in more than a shallow depth and have no time to marinate. It turns the sum total of what is, generally, an visually appealing, atmospherically strong, and conceptually creative game, into a blip, one that just brushes against you before passing on, leaving you wishing it could be more than it was.
