There isn't much to say about this collection that hasn't already been said, but I'm throwing my hat in the ring anyway because $25 is an outrageous price to be charged to be presented with THIS version of turmac roll I can't believe they made a jpeg free and pretended to be doing us a favor about it.
I know there are so many negatives and while the choice in games would not be the first, I had fun! Having it connect to your actual neopets account and earn actual neopoints makes it worth while. Does it have issue? Yes absouletly its very buggy but then again so are the games on the website. Do you not understand they were all REBUILT?! The og games are made in flash, these were all redone in Unity. I hope they add more games or DLC or something.
Just offal. They gave me the hope of playing my favorite Neopets game (With more convenience and controller support!), but made the thing slower, uglier and not at all fun to control. I was looking forward to playing this so much! I can tolerate selling me free, decades old games for $20, if only they pour some TLC into it! There isn't even a back button for when you enter the settings menu or the map, you just have to intuitively know to press 'Esc'!
The game has jank but I'm still gonna recommend it because its still fun. The developers are actively trying to fix it as. I consider it an extension of the Neopets Flash game library not a replacement. :)
As a long time fan of Neopets, and someone who regularly goes after game trophies on the website, my honest opinion at this time is that this compilation is overpriced for what little you get. If they continue to add more content in the future, that might change. For now though, I'd suggest waiting for a decent sale if you aren't desperate to own it right away. Extra info for Steam Deck users; It's possible to play all of the games and earn all of the achievements using the Steam Deck. The only game-breaking bug I experienced was not being able to use the clear board potion on Spellseeker, but it's not necessary to use that to get the score you need.
I seriously don't understand all the bad reviews. I'm personally enjoying the game so far! Haven't seen or experienced anything that would be considered "buggy" but then again the original Flash games on the website had their fair share of bugs. No problems on my end though! It's a great dose of nostalgia, the games are fun, and I love being able to earn Neopoints for my Neopets account. I think if you're a Neopets fan it's definitely worth the purchase for sure! And apparently the devs stated they may be adding more minigames in the future to this package, so I look forward to that!
Nice, cute and fun!
A lot of control issues that leave games inferior to the original flash versions (things that were snappy mouse control, become slugging, un rebindable keyboard controls) Music is non existant in a lot of games or glitches. Many games are just straight up glitchy. Art is not always acurrately redrawn (having any sort of fan of the original game involved in the process to give artist revision notes would have helped. Or was redrawn but not polished and refined, as if every asset was upscaled independent of each other. Some assets were lazily not even upscaled (such as the spellseeker wizard with thier many frames of animation) so thats just a grainy video recording.) Story is flat, boring, contextless, not lore accurate, and lacks any new artwork to give the imagination anything to base it on. Interface is tedious (you have to back out to the world map to go back in and play other games of that world, and things like starting a new game is not marked as such) Story mode requires you to play and beat each game in the story order, before you can free play all games, it prevents you from visiting old games, so if you DID like something, you have to play a bunch of things you dont like in order to go back to it.) the one original game is unpolished, and awkward. Its out of character for the main character to act like that, and they look utterly joyless as they wiggle. Nyx was a poor choice of a player character.
You are better off playing these games for free on the site via Ruffle. It is fun playing with a gamepad, having played both with that and mouse/keyboard on this game it is easier and more fun via gamepad and I guess that's the novelty of it. Don't buy this for multiplayer, the multiplayer games are a joke, just a single-player experience with an additional player character tacked on. There were glitches with Snowmuncher getting stuck in the air and Hasee Bounce hasees not collecting doughnutfruits that they pass by very closely. This version of Faerie Bubbles is much easier and more fun than the original, so that's a plus. The other upside is that in most of these games you get a stupidly high amount of NP for the site. After playing through the story I had probably 50,000 NP more to my name than when I started, so if your only objective is Neopets.com currency and you have a gamepad then I could say it might be worth it. BIG 'might' for playing this game on PC, if you only have a console and no way to play the original games then I guess... maybe. Not worth the expense IMO but I will play it now that I have it
