About
NEMESIS DISTRESS is a unique multiplayer Sci-Fi horror experience that aims at creating unforgettable, cinematic moments. Remember – this is NOT a shooter, in Nemesis you are not the hunter. You are the PREY.
What you can hope to achieve is to survive and complete your secret objective as well as main mission. But beware – in multiplayer experience you are not playing a full co-op. Any other player MIGHT be a traitor and will aim at sabotaging you.
Sneak your way around the ship, find useful items, take advantage of the noise mechanic and all the tricks around the ship.
Key Features:
True Horror experience
We wanted to craft a really thrilling environment, where every sound and movement around the ship will get you on the edge of your sit. There are different types of enemies, with the most dangerous Adult, that can one-shot you.
Unique semi co-op
You will need to find a fine balance between collaborating with your team-mates (as otherwise you will not survive) and not trusting them fully, as some of them might have some nasty secret objectives. This creates an interesting dynamic and add a bit of extra layer on the horror experience.
Noise management
Since the alien species on the ship is blind, you will need to be very careful about the sound that you make. But you can also use it to your advantage - throw items to distract enemies and sneak past them…
… or just use flamethrower to scare them away.
Fresh items idea
Since Nemesis is not a shooter, don’t expect too many weapons. Instead, you will have a different “arsenal” – noise detector, hacking tool or good-old pipe will come in handy in various situations.

Overall Rating: 7/10 - Super fun Alien style horror. Lots of jumpscares and a lot of fun with friends. Do recommend, although the seem to sadly no longer be updating the game.

Nemesis: Distress is a science-fiction survival horror title developed by Awaken Realms in collaboration with Ovid Works and released on Steam. Inspired by the tense, semi-cooperative structure of the Nemesis board game, the digital adaptation attempts to capture the same sense of paranoia, danger, and unpredictable outcomes within a first-person multiplayer environment. The result is a unique hybrid of survival horror and social deduction gameplay where players must struggle not only against alien threats but also against the possibility that their teammates may have hidden agendas. The setting takes place aboard a massive spacecraft that has become the site of a mysterious disaster. After receiving a distress signal, a small crew awakens from cryogenic sleep only to discover that the vessel has been infiltrated by hostile alien organisms known as Intruders. The ship itself becomes the central stage for the experience, with players navigating its labyrinth of corridors, laboratories, and maintenance tunnels while attempting to understand what happened before their arrival. Rather than presenting a linear narrative filled with cinematic cutscenes, the game communicates much of its story through environmental clues and player interaction. Gameplay revolves around short multiplayer sessions in which a small group of players attempts to survive a dangerous situation unfolding aboard the spacecraft. Each participant controls a crew member with access to limited equipment and abilities. At the start of the session, players receive secret objectives that determine their personal goals. Some players may be focused on repairing the ship and escaping safely, while others might have more selfish or destructive motivations. This system creates a layer of uncertainty that constantly influences how players interact with one another. Exploration is a major component of the experience. Players must move through the ship’s various sections searching for tools, weapons, medical supplies, and mission-critical equipment. Many of these items are necessary to repair key systems such as life support, navigation, or communications. Because the ship is partially damaged and filled with malfunctioning systems, exploration often feels dangerous and unpredictable. Opening doors, activating machinery, or running through corridors can create noise that attracts the attention of the alien creatures lurking within the ship. The alien Intruders are the central threat that defines the horror aspect of the game. These creatures move unpredictably through the environment, emerging from ventilation shafts or dark corridors to ambush unsuspecting crew members. Unlike typical enemies in action games, they are designed to be extremely dangerous, forcing players to rely on caution and teamwork rather than direct combat. Weapons exist within the game, but using them often creates noise that draws additional threats. As a result, avoiding encounters and managing risk becomes a crucial survival strategy. One of the most distinctive features of Nemesis: Distress is the way it blends cooperative survival with hidden objectives. Although players must work together to keep the ship functioning, not everyone necessarily shares the same priorities. Some crew members may secretly sabotage equipment or manipulate situations to achieve their own objectives. This dynamic creates a tense atmosphere of suspicion where trust can break down at any moment. Conversations between players become strategic interactions as individuals try to determine who can be trusted. The environment itself contributes heavily to the game’s tension. The spacecraft interior is filled with narrow corridors, dimly lit rooms, and mechanical structures that evoke the atmosphere of classic science-fiction horror films. Flickering lights, damaged equipment, and distant echoes create the impression that the ship is slowly falling apart. The design encourages careful navigation, as players never know when a quiet hallway might suddenly become the site of a deadly encounter. Visually, the game adopts a dark and gritty aesthetic that emphasizes realism and isolation. Metallic surfaces, industrial machinery, and worn interior panels give the spaceship a believable sense of age and use. The lighting system plays an important role in establishing mood, often casting long shadows that obscure potential threats lurking in the distance. This visual design reinforces the feeling that the crew is trapped in an enormous and hostile structure far from safety. Sound design further enhances the horror atmosphere. The ship constantly emits ambient mechanical noises such as humming engines, distant clanging metal, and echoing footsteps through empty corridors. These subtle audio cues make the environment feel alive while also contributing to the tension of potential encounters. Because noise can attract enemies, players must pay close attention to their actions and surroundings. Despite its innovative design, Nemesis: Distress faces challenges common to many multiplayer-focused games. The quality of each session often depends heavily on the presence of other players and their willingness to participate in cooperative gameplay. When matches include engaged players who embrace the social deception elements, the experience can be extremely tense and memorable. However, sessions with limited communication or inexperienced players may feel less dynamic. Another challenge lies in the game’s learning curve. New players may initially struggle to understand the balance between cooperation and personal objectives. The game does not always clearly explain the best strategies for survival, which can lead to chaotic situations during early matches. Over time, however, experienced players often learn to read the behavior of others and adapt their strategies accordingly. Even with these challenges, the game offers a compelling interpretation of the Nemesis universe in digital form. Its emphasis on vulnerability, teamwork, and uncertainty creates a distinct experience compared to more action-oriented multiplayer horror titles. Each match has the potential to unfold differently depending on player decisions, secret objectives, and random encounters with the alien threat. Overall, Nemesis: Distress delivers a tense and atmospheric multiplayer survival experience that successfully combines science-fiction horror with social deduction mechanics. The unpredictable interactions between players and the ever-present danger of the Intruders create a unique blend of cooperation and betrayal. While the reliance on multiplayer participation can limit its accessibility for solo players, those who enjoy strategic social gameplay and atmospheric horror will likely find the experience both thrilling and memorable. Dead
Dead game, abandoned by devs. Cool concept, I love the board games. No longer available on store but if it ever is, do not recommend. Waste of Money
It's a great game. It could use a bit more love from the creators, though.
i like it
