Neko Odyssey: A Game for Cat Lovers You Can't Miss! Here’s a slightly unusual Casual Adventure game where the main gameplay centers around taking pictures of cats. The pixel art graphics in a 3D setting create a charming atmosphere reminiscent of Japanese animation.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Visit a Japanese island in your holidays, enjoy the rural society, economy, people in general, but mostly the several dozens of cats that roam this place. Yes, the cats. Play with them, pet them, give them food and toys. Take photos, and share them with the world - all while exploring what mystery this place might hide. Generally liking the game, but it's quite buggy and unrefined. Feels more like a proof of concept at this point than an actual polished game. To think that this is version.... 1.1.4, well... I hope there're still actively working on this. Thoughts: The art tries this merger between low texture 3D and pixel art for characters. The shading doesnt really work tho. The animation itself is cute. Tho, I'd actually prefer there to be a few outfits to pick from. Miki runs around for 10 days straight in the same ugly coat and shirt combination, I dunno. Bugs I ran into so far: Occasional Interaction triggers being half across the screen. Once with a cat and once with a map transition. Some cats / interactions being unable to reach, or non-existent. Being out of food energy skipped two days in a row once so far, instead of just to the next morning. One of the cat photos was repeatedly just a full white images. Even the same cat several in-game days later. The fishing catch fanfare always just cuts off several seconds ahead of where it should, so the game falls silent for a few seconds before it resumes. Made me think it had crashed when it happened the first time. The game also can't math properly - if a day gives me 37k Yen, it's just going from 67k to 87k - unless taxes are involved, I don't know. I also saw some pictures not registering for upload, and some uploaded pictures not giving any likes. Sure, that'd be realistic, but I doubt that's intended. Clunkiness so far: The story. Screeching to a halt like an ingame week in. Also, why not make Miki <spoiler>mute by choice - it'd fit the narrative so far and build a lot more empathy with her. Also, 7 sorta shallow, supershort nightmares of basically the same thing without advancing it any further is just a bit weird. Am I supposed to emphasise with her on this little info given? Was it her fault? Is she innocent? Who knows, the game stopped giving more info 2 nightmares in. - oh, they did. It just didn't carry over well enough, because she looks like she's talking at times. Guess she didn't. And the NPCs didn't comment on it or anything.</spoiler> It eventually picks up again, thankfully, but still, you got to 'waste' entire ingame days on just running around the town in one big circle, snapping cat pics that might not do anything for your progress. NPCs have little to nothing to say. To the point where I was just ignoring them and focusing on the cats instead. Maybe that's intended, I don't know. Oh, and that text chat with that Gato character - I have to look away when text pops in, because it is constantly jumping up and down when the ... gets shown, then it vanishes and then eventually the new text baloon comes in. I wish that was smoother animated. Performance isn't very good. A game like this should run well on a PS2. Let alone my machine, which can run PS5 games without issues in 4k. I'm surprised it actually has loading times. The entire game looks like it should fit in 4GB RAM... The UI is not prepared to show follower numbers 10k+ since the numbers overlap the icons then. All in all, it feels like just the bare minimum of QA went into this game. Things I expected / wish the game had: Lil fancy things like hovering translations for the excessive Japanese writing everywhere. I can read some but am rusty on a lot of Kanji. Someone with less exp in the language might be even more alienated than that. Little +numbers for the likes and subs and stuff would be nice, that slowly fade upwards from the counters would be neat. A better looping, generally longer and more varied music track would be nice. Or more music in general. Been listening to this one for hours now... The wall clocks you see in some of the backgrounds to actually depict the actual ingame time, not just being a fixed part of the image. A lot less or faster loading times, or none at all, tbh. Musings for a successor of this: I'd love it if the devs'd expand the whole "taking photos of cute cats" a bit more. I was thinking like, making each of the cats a little star of Miki's cat-blog-whatever. With each cat having its own personality, and its own fans amongst the general followers. Stuff like that. Engagement, you know. Miki learning how to deal with people by being a cat-pic-caterer. Miki needs more clothes options. A lot more than just one. Cover various moods, at the very least colour options if it'd still be pixel art. Player agency and all that. Various hairdos or even just ways to do ponytails or use different (coloured)) ribbons / scrunchies whatever would be welcome. Why still a thumbs up? Because in the big picture, and despite that I'd love for all these issues getting dealt with, this is all just nitpicking. The game still manages to engage to a degree, and it didn't crash yet. It does its thing, and it tries its best to tell its story. Overall, 6/10. Lots of time wasted doing nothing. The intrigue made me push on, even tho I wouldn't call it fun. The finale is okay. Do better next time.

Neko Odyssey is a relaxed, atmosphere-driven adventure that centers on exploration, photography, and gentle storytelling rather than challenge or urgency. Developed by SECRET CHARACTER and published by Flyhigh Works, the game invites players into a warm, inviting island setting where the primary goal is to observe, understand, and document the many cats that inhabit the world. From the outset, it makes clear that this is an experience designed to be savored slowly, rewarding curiosity, patience, and attention to small details rather than fast reflexes or mechanical mastery. The premise places you in the role of a young photographer staying on a scenic island known for its large feline population. Instead of following a rigid storyline, the game unfolds organically as you wander through towns, beaches, forests, and tucked-away corners, encountering cats with distinct behaviors and personalities. Some are friendly and eager for attention, while others are skittish or elusive, requiring specific conditions, items, or timing to photograph successfully. This design subtly encourages observation and experimentation, teaching players to read environmental cues and cat behavior rather than simply ticking objectives off a checklist. Photography is the central mechanic, but it is handled in a way that feels accessible and low-pressure. Taking a picture is less about technical precision and more about being in the right place at the right moment. Each successful photo contributes to an in-game social media-style feed, where images gain attention and feedback. This system acts as both a progression tracker and a gentle guide, offering hints about undiscovered cats or locations through comments and reactions. It adds a modern thematic layer to the experience without disrupting the game’s calm tone, making progress feel natural rather than forced. Exploration plays a major role in shaping the game’s identity. The island is compact but densely layered, with verticality, hidden paths, and changing scenery that encourages repeated visits to familiar areas. There is a sense of intimacy to the world, as if it were designed to be memorized gradually rather than conquered. The absence of overt navigation aids reinforces this feeling, asking players to rely on landmarks and memory. While this can occasionally lead to mild disorientation, it ultimately strengthens immersion and supports the game’s philosophy of slow discovery. Narrative elements are woven subtly into the experience through interactions with townspeople and small, optional story threads. These moments provide context for the island’s culture and its relationship with cats, offering light emotional beats without overwhelming the core loop. The writing is understated and often reflective, focusing on everyday concerns, personal connections, and quiet moments rather than dramatic conflict. This approach complements the game’s pacing, allowing players to engage with the story at their own comfort level. Visually, Neko Odyssey blends pixel-art aesthetics with a softly rendered 3D environment, creating a distinctive look that feels nostalgic yet fresh. The art direction emphasizes warmth and charm, with gentle color palettes and expressive character animations that bring both cats and humans to life. Environments are rich with small details that reward careful observation, making exploration feel consistently rewarding even when objectives are minimal. The soundtrack further enhances the mood, offering calm, melodic tracks that fade into the background and reinforce the sense of tranquility. The game’s mechanics remain intentionally simple throughout, with little emphasis on difficulty or progression systems that escalate over time. This simplicity can make the experience feel repetitive for players seeking variety or challenge, especially during longer sessions. However, for those drawn to cozy games and relaxed pacing, this consistency becomes a strength, allowing the experience to remain soothing and predictable without becoming stressful. Ultimately, Neko Odyssey is a game about presence and appreciation rather than achievement. It succeeds by creating a world where the act of wandering, observing, and capturing fleeting moments feels meaningful in itself. While it does not offer complex systems or dramatic stakes, it delivers a thoughtfully crafted experience that celebrates small joys and quiet exploration. For players who enjoy cozy adventures, animal-focused gameplay, and gentle narrative touches, it offers a charming and memorable journey that invites you to slow down and enjoy the world one photograph at a time. Rating: 7/10
