Hm... Naja dachte weil es Cube World Optik hat. Könnte es Lustig sein. Falscher Alarm.
Fast-Paced Action, Hampered by Nasty RNG
Nasty Rogue is a challenging action roguelite that plunges players into randomly generated dungeons filled with relentless enemies. The game adheres to the classic roguelite formula: defeat monsters, gather temporary currency and powerful items, and navigate procedurally generated levels until inevitable death forces a fresh run. The core loop of combat is highly satisfying; it's fast-paced, fluid, and rewards aggressive player movement and skillful dodging. The game shines in its progression systems. Each run offers a dizzying array of temporary skills, power-ups, and weapons, allowing for genuinely unique and often overpowered builds. This ensures high replay value, as players are constantly experimenting with different combinations of abilities. For fans of the genre who appreciate a game that leans heavily into the "randomness is fun" philosophy, Nasty Rogue provides hours of compelling, high-energy action. However, the game's execution often falls short of its potential, leading to its mixed reception. Many players point out that the game's aesthetic is rather basic, with simple visuals and a presentation that feels underwhelming compared to other modern roguelites. More critically, the experience is marred by technical issues, including occasional bugs and noticeable difficulty spikes that feel less skill-based and more reliant on luck (RNG). The balance can feel inconsistent, as a run can end abruptly due to a few unlucky item drops or a poorly placed room generation.
The Good:
Satisfyingly fast-paced and fluid combat mechanics. High replayability due to randomized skills and builds. Functional roguelite progression system that rewards aggressive play.
The Bad:
Inconsistent difficulty spikes highly reliant on random chance (RNG). The visuals and aesthetics are basic and generally underwhelming. Gameplay can suffer from occasional bugs and lack of polish.
If you're into wicked atmospheres then I absolutely recommend this game! Out of the gate it took me a few minutes to understand the in-game menu and crafting of items, however it was enjoyable to relax and figure out, which thankfully was really helped by the chill soundtrack. I had this on my wishlist since first seeing it over a year ago, then seeing it go on sale for a huge discount, it feels awesome to have supported a developer who truly understands atmosphere and ambience in games (wish I'd bought it sooner). While the hack and slash element may be very 'jump then slash the ground', the atmosphere is enough in games like this for me to really enjoy them. I put it on the hardest difficulty, died a fair bit, then got the hang of it and actually liked progressing through the game. When I got up to the fourth of fifth boss (The Librarian) and hit a wall of strong enemies, likely because I started just speedrunning to soak up the atmosphere and didn't craft enough health, I realised my lazy Saturday afternoon had turned into a lazy Saturday night... time flies when you're having fun eh!? Even the main menu is amazing and not an old stagnant piece of rubbish. In many aspects it truly feels like a modern game, not a game made in the 2005 era. Companies like Activision could learn a thing or two about main menus from this game. As I said though, if you are planning on buying it (and I do recommend it) just be warned the attacking of enemies is pretty basic, so don't expect some super combo hack and slash. Think Lego Star Wars attacks. All that said, I still recommend Nasty Rogue, purely to soak up the chill atmosphere with ambient vibes.
This is a great fun game, that is easy to play and lose track of time. Thumbs up from me. small note to developer. I think the inventory button was stuck? The only way i could get out was right mouse button. (but this could be by design). Thanks for making this game.
