Classic ND fun!
Nancy Drew: The Haunted Carousel was a fun ride! It's up to you as Nancy Drew to help get to the bottom of a malfunctioning amusement park. Broken down roller coasters, and the titular haunted carousel that gets set off at night with seemingly no one at the controls. The charm of the older Nancy Drew is that little bit of thinking required without the help of the journal readily available. Hints are just a call away to either Bess and George or the Hardy Boys. Pros: The park is fun to explore with several locations to go between. The puzzles are fun and I loved the bit that taught you the beginnings on how to read shorthand. There were several suspects that all seemed to have motivations and this mystery keeps you guessing until the end. I loved the musical puzzle. It seems like you are able to work through several of the puzzles and clues in any order, but that lead to two of the characters being absent for over half the game because I took a long time to figure out the particular clues that brought them back into play. Cons: Though I did like the riddles given from the robot, I think it's voice was grating and annoying to listen to. Unfortunately, you have to solve 3 different puzzles for it. Navigation is a little awkward in areas, and the Pong inspired mini-game has horrendously staggered movement. I like that we get a preview of the matching game that appears in Curse of Blackmoor Manor, but this version is laggy and slow and hard to maneuver. Blackmoor Manor plays this mini-game much smoother. Overall, this one is a solid ND game. Not one of my top favorites, but one I will play again at some point.

i love this game it's one of the best game i ever played
This game felt shorter than other Nancy mysteries; I don't know if it's because things felt more intuitive to me in this game or I called the Hardy boys too often, but it felt like I zoomed through. I may have had to use a lot of second chances from falling off the carousel, burning down the hotel with an iron, and being chased by the culprit, but it all ended well. The riddles were fun, and learning shorthand was interesting, but I really enjoyed all of the different skills you had to do as Nancy in the park.
My favorite Nancy Drew game. I played this as a child, so I had to download it for the nostalgia...and because I never finished the game. Can be suitable for all ages, as some puzzles/ quests can be difficult to figure out. The game has a great storyline, funny characters and a spooky vibe.
A little short for my liking but then again the older Nancy Drew games tend to be quite short. As far as the older ND titles go, this one is one of the all stars. Fantastic setting, lots of genuine suspects, a compelling (enough) mystery and some spooky vibes here and there! The puzzles are a little hit or miss but overall i'd say they're pretty solid! 7/10
This game was even better than I remembered. I love that you don't have to skip back and forth between night and day, that all the puzzles and games are manageable if you just look in the right place or try try again, and there's a nice selection of people to talk to both in person and on the phone. I loved ordering room service just for funsies, and of course solving riddles from MILES the magnificent memory machine! What a character. A top 5 game for sure.
It was basically just talking to people the entire time with minimal puzzles, nothing like the other Nancy Drew games.
The subplot with Joy is the heart of the game, truly. I beat this title in about three hours? It was very quick and I remember as a child it took much longer. Still, it was enjoyable for what it was, but the mystery wasn't super hard to figure out. If you want a quick little Nancy Drew game to zip through, this one is it!
I did not like some of the dialogue options or reactions of some of the characters, seemed a bit childish and illogical, but overall it's an interesting story and cute puzzles. Keep in mind that this game is based on books written for teenagers. It's an old game, but works fine with help from dgvoodoo.
