About
Mystery at Morgoth is set on the world of Qaedon, a thousand years before the Great Cataclysm and is the follow-up to The Curse of Feldar Vale. Known as the Age of Chaos, humans, greenskins, and all manner of monsters fight to survive these troubled times.
The peoples of Morgoth are living in fear of the shadowy organization known as The Cabal. But who controls them, who are their leaders? Nobody wants to find out as unpleasant things happen to those who are too inquisitive.
Build a party of 4-6 characters to adventure in Morgoth, to seek fame and fortune, or more likely find just enough coin to put food on the plate. Mystery at Morgoth delivers old-school gaming with hand-drawn 2D graphics throughout.
If you completed The Curse of Feldar Vale import your party to continue the adventure or solve the mystery stand-alone with a new party of your choice.

It's the sequel to The Curse of Feldar Vale; you can import your party from a completed game save of that game and continue your party's onslaught. I did day one (two?) purchase since I was immensely satisfied by the devs previous work. If you have the first game, you're going to get something very similar, and that works for me and will probably work for you too if you like gold box style combat using OGL rules. I played long enough to post a review and I now have the impetus to play Feldar Vale again and then this.
Having played & enjoyed Feldar Vale, I was pleased when Morgoth was released. It certainly didn’t disappoint. In some ways it’s easier than Feldar Vale but in others it’s harder. The differences make it fresh & it’s certainly longer & with much better graphics. Having just completed the game, I’m already looking forward to the next instalment of the ongoing story. So, what makes Morgoth (& Feldar Vale) so good? Firstly, it is a very deep tactical game. You have to employ strategies for most aspects of the game. For example, there are usually a variety of ways a fight can be approached. You have to consider the strengths/weaknesses of your opponents; whether they can do permanent damage to your party &, if so, how best to avoid that; how far can they move per turn; what is their range if a range attack, and so the list goes on. The game presents so many options for you to consider that you can become totally absorbed in deciding your best approach, but you never get the feeling of being overwhelmed. You can ignore all this if you want, but it is usually not the best or wisest approach. The variety of monsters is large, as are their abilities. You will get so much more out of the game if you approach each fight with caution, clicking on each monster present & check out their abilities & lore. Lore especially is important to check as it often gives you invaluable information on the monster - like only +3 weapons can harm it, etc. Even moving around or positioning each member of your party ready for a fight has a tactical aspect to it. The environment also plays a part, with standing on tables, etc, giving a height advantage & hence improved damage. There is just so much to this game. The depth is incredible! Secondly, is the huge number of choices you can make in rolling each member of your party & the variety of possibilities for the makeup of your party. You can spend hours alone just rolling to create that really great party. You can have single, dual or even triple class characters right from the start & you can even make them higher than level 1. So many possibilities! How many other RPG games give you this depth & flexibility of character/party creation? Thirdly, the story has meaning & direct relevance to the game, unlike so many other RPG’s that the story often seems to be a tack on or after thought. You know your purpose while playing the game as the game clearly defines this purpose. The game may look a bit simplistic with its graphics, but don’t be fooled. It is a very deep, thinking game that can keep your interest till the end, with the added bonus of being able to export your party to the next chapter/installment of the story. Get involved with this ongoing story & see where it goes. For the price you can’t go wrong. It is a paltry sum to pay for a really great, strategy RPG game. 10/10
It's a lot bigger then the first game The Curse of Feldar Vale. The game does very good job of creating interest in an area and challenging encounters. it's really good DnD style game in an isometric view. I enjoyed it. While playing the game you have to take advantage of Height and space in an area. Cutting off an entrance, Using an archer on table, all of these tactics need to be used to beat battles. You can run into a battle and be wiped out in a turn by one enemy mage. Some casts Ice storm and your in trouble! Great Dnd Style game really recommend it!
Can't like until I find out how to turn off the combat ticker. Found it. Its off now. Theres a lot of options and menus of different options. BUT all good and certainly enjoying it. Much more of the same as last time but I dont mind at all. And its still early days into the game. Well done team. And well done on the price too. I'm Mega skint with the evil Tory scum and neoliberalism ruining society.
This is a follow up title to The Curse of Feldar Vale. You can export your party from the previous game and continue on here. Feels very much like a tabletop RPG. The maps are higher resolution. There are many tactical options and ways to approach each situation. I enjoy everything about it as it reminds me of a modern version of the Gold Box classics I used to play. I really like this game. The devs are also very friendly and active in the forums and great about answering questions. Hope that this game gets the recognition it deserves.
The core of something really amazing with an insanely designed interface.
Carries on from Feldar game. It is pretty similar in many ways to DnD without getting bogged down by the ruleset too much, this creates a more streamlined experience. By streamlined I don't mean simplicity as you are given a lot of flexibility/depth to build your party as you want. I have a lot of admiration for the Indie Devs (who may be working on this in their retirement) behind this and their engagement, with anyone who posts or comments. In an age where corporate greed and agendas leave me with a bitter taste in the mouth; Morgoth and the series in general comes across as a labour of love to pen and paper gaming systems of the past with honest storytelling and a touch of altruism. If that sounds like your cup of tea recommend try and buy as it is literally the price of a cup of coffee.
Un seguito degno di nota. Non vedo l'ora dell'ultimo capitolo! In primo luogo, da considerare che ho importato il party da 4 che avevo in The Curse of Feldar Vale, quindi tenetene conto. Ottimo lavoro
Good follow-up to The Curse of Feldar Vale with some nice improvements over the original.
