It's gonna be a neutral review. It's a typical Voltage otome, same old features but this time it was more annoying for me, so I'll start with Complaints : --MC was insufferable (-‸ლ) I was fuming with rage too many times. How can one be an active, working adult and still so inexperienced & stupid is beyond me. Too many (if not all) problems would be avoidable if she just used her head and talked to her boyfriend. Welp, sometimes she opened up but to her best friend instead, approximately of the same age but in comparison to our mc she seemed like a real sage. I sincerely don't understand why it's always this way with classic otome. Shouldn't mc be relatable, someone easy to associate with? Why is she deliberately created in such a terrible way?! I start to think it's a proof of the lack of any writing skills and inability to come up with any realistic problems to move the plot, so the author has to sacrifice mc's sanity to create at least some development in the story. It's a pity mc herself never learns. It especially enrages me because as asked I gave her my name, I try to self-insert, instead I get this silly, dependent protagonist and I can't even affect any choices because even if I try to choose to reveal the truth, for example, in the next sentence mc will decide it's not the right time, she's gonna be just a burden etc. Again it feels like a mockery to have that illusion of a choice. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3519716433 --Love interests are much more appealing than MC but still I was mainly disappointed :(( I always play starting with the least favorable option, so I kept Ayato for last. Btw It's an annoying feature in Voltage otome when one specific char seems to stand out among others, like his sprite is used in the main menu, kinda ok, why not. But in some general chapters, same for every LI it's his CG too and that's weird O_O when in the middle of the route you see a different half naked guy in your bed O_o So, I started with that bully, I usually like such types when despite their harsh words and cold acts they care deeply about you inside but here he didn't develop at all, even being close and alone with mc he still was unacceptably rude. Though frankly speaking closer to the end of the novel I was so annoyed with mc that I actually regretted playing him first, I'd like to express all that dissatisfaction through his blunt words. But to start an otome with that was a big letdown. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3474013633 Then was that younger brother that turned out to be such a
slut
even if that was before their relationship I was disgusted how he treated his mentor. All that praise and respect and then behind his back all those years... I felt sick, I couldn't trust him after that, I couldn't enjoy his route at all, and it was such a pity as he is the most handsome guy there :(( and their backstory is sweet but... --As always the game has too many typos, for such a price tag it's really unacceptable. --There were too many cases when a wrong background was used. It was kinda funny and a tad nostalgic to recollect other novels where those backgrounds actually belonged to but... What a mess :(( --It's always sad to learn that the steam version is a cut one :( For example, it looks like the available steam guide was just copied from somewhere as it has a longer walkthrough than the game actually provides, lol. Despite all my grumbling not everything was bad, I would like to know what is going to happen later, why did they decide to release this unfinished part? Will we ever see the continuation for any of their mutilated novels? --All the routes are repetitive. Same main plot, same issues. Not necessarily a bad thing btw, as sometimes it's really curious how everything is gonna proceed with a new guy, with their unique personal story & character but sometimes it is too predictable and borderline boring. --Nothing explicit text-wise or visually. Sex scenes are mentioned quite frequently but they are so annoying with mc just lying there and receiving all the affection. I don't want to feel like a log in bed, the guys are too hot, it's such a waste all I can do as mc is just blush and be a naive fool. --Again despite the name on the store page it's officially in Japanese :( For example, I wanted to search screenshots in my collection but I can't find any among my almost 9,000 ss because I can't type those hieroglyphs to search the name. --I'm still highly disappointed that I can't play their otome Star-Crossed Myth - The Department of Wishes - it's just a black screen for me when I launch the game but the devs don't respond to my steam discussions or emails I sent, the way they ignore any appeals is really frustrating. For me it's important to see devs communicate with their players, esp when there are some serious issues. Their novels aren't cheap, to buy it and not be able to play is like being robbed. Praises : +I really like how everything is organized in Voltage otome. All the separate pages, the relationship chart, how easily you can choose the desirable route, not like in many other otome where you have to make the right choices for that. Here it's relaxing and comforting to know what is what. + Even with the short version there's still lots of content. So it's a really long read. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3482122155 +Art is pretty! Not all the CGs are gorgeous but I still always make lots of screenshots. +Despite all my annoyance there were lots of sweet and romantic scenes, I often beamed happily and sometimes even teared up touched by the adorable moments. I lloved those slice-of-life chapters with no choices, no silly, illogical drama. They really should create some linear otome, lol. So, it's not like it was a total waste of time but I've played much more interesting Voltage otome. You just found out your childhood crush who turned you down is now working above you at work. What should you do? Why confess to him again as an adult, of course. This could never go wrong. Spoiler alert, it goes wrong. His reply; well... you two could take this conversation to a hotel. You are "saved" by another childhood friend (love interest #1 Ayato) who comforts you as you cry. Time jump forwards, and now all your old childhood friends (love interests) have taken you to the rooftop for a fireworks display. When you head back to your room to grab some liquid courage someone tells you to get over your silly childhood crush. Who could that be but... insert your choice of love interest. If you ignore how silly the premise is and how naive the mc is the story can be rather fun. I've always enjoyed voltage stories and have even read this one on love365 too. They have two more love interests on their app but as that doesn't really have anything to do with this game unless they add it in a future dlc I'll ignore that for now. I've officially finished my first character so it is time to review.(13 hr mark review) I have finished my second character and have added them to the review. (27 hr mark review) Ichiya Misono - the unfriendly lone wolf Ichiya isn't really your friend. He's mean and rude. He was basically your bully as a kid. Yet, for some reason you let him hangout with you and now he's aggressively flirting? Whatever could it mean? I started with him because he was my least favorite boy from the prologue. I'm not the biggest fan of jerks but he did grow on me a little. The story has some nice moments between the two and we get to learn more about his childhood throughout his stories. We went from hating this character to eventually becoming his fiance. The story; though full of cliches, spelling mistakes, and whimsy, was still full of that romantic fluff and was easy to follow.
You find out pretty early on that as a kid he locked you outside on a rainy day and stole your favorite stuffie (I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to lock the door and it's pretty clear he stole your stuffie because you basically implied you didn't want to hang out with him.) So, you quickly let him know that you are not interested in dating him in any way. That's cool with him though, because he doesn't want to date you cause he's romantically interested in you. No, he wants to date you because he knows you hate him and won't fall in love with him. Why does that matter? Well, because he needs a fake girlfriend to get his current ex-girlfriend to understand they are over. You try to refuse but when your crush witnesses you getting kissed by Ichiya well you are somehow convinced to join his scheme (as you can see you are kind of a pushover). Days go by and eventually you agree to go to his apartment just the two of you (why you think it's a good idea to go there just the two of you I'll never know). He gives you your old stuffie and you think maybe you were wrong about Ichiya (Ha!). Then the next thing you know you are pushed down onto a couch and he's above you loosening his tie... and in walks his ex. She storms out. He says you two have accomplished your goal and you fulfilled your job. You are pissed and still have to work with him. Eventually you two make up and have to finish this work project that's due date is creeping ever closer.
If that sound like fun to you than Ichiya is definitely the route for you! Makoto Morimachi - the loyal older brother Makoto is the older brother of Riku and acts like an older brother to you too. He's sweet and is always there for you. Well, when you return to your room to find it flooded Mako is quick to offer his and Riku's apartment up as temporary housing for you. Your crush asked you to get Mako on board with joining your work project. Working with your "brother" and helping your crush, how could you refuse? Honestly I probably would have read Mako's route last as I'm usually a sucker for the sweet characters, but the fact that you used to date Riku kind of just ruined it for me. I still enjoyed all the fluff and the way he would do the kindest things without trying to take any credit. Same problems with this route, cliches, spelling mistakes, and sometimes too much whimsy.
You have been turned down twice by your crush, and yet again you try to be what your crush wants in this route. Girl we don't need another Juliet here. No means no. Move on. What sucks is he kind of plays with her in this route and then they try to play him later as an okay guy that you still think of as a friend. Don't even get me started on the later story where Mako has a neighbor that gives you hickey and we for some reason semi-forgive that guy too. Mc lets things go too far and lacks some communication skills. Anyways, Mako gets to join you at work as he makes a chocolate that can change flavors and you get to complain about how your not succeeding in work. Totally fair. Just, ignore the fact mc finds out Mako might (definitely) has feelings for her and freaks about it. Mc has to get her crush to see her as a mature woman.
If that sounds like your cup of tea then Makoto is the route to read!
Só macho escroto nessa bagaça. Pelo amor de Deus. Controladores, abusivos, cafajestes e obcecados, tudo com uma paleta de cores rosa e lilás para parecer romântico. É quase fascinante.
I have played through the first main story as well as the first round of POVs and can defiantely say overall I recommend, I am still not a fan of how this company leaves off a route or two for majority of their games as that just feels dirty and money greedy but the story is cute, CGIs as well though there is not many of them, a couple of typos as well but not often and not too bad that you cant understand what they meant. As for the routes some I liked more then others, one i disliked. Takamune is the man, I love this guy, 110/10 rating from me for him, his route had enough pain in it to make the ending so much sweeter. He was the third route i played and i regret not saving him for last. Please marry me Taka. Ayato was okay i guess, felt like the most cannon option so i saved him for last, he wasn't the worse I would give him a solid 7/10, but to be honest he did not leave a strong impression either way, by default he was my second to last favorite route. Makoto was the route i played right before Ayato and that may be why going from such a lovely man to Ayato i was left less overwhelmed, Makoto is the true definition of truly loving someone and i just wanted to give him a hug cuz dammit i love this guy but he still only gave me big brother vibes. It was hard to get into the romance a bit, but still he deserves a 8/10 in my opinion Ichiya... haha well i kinda like this trope so im hella biased but dammit if he wasn't my second favorite route, i just wanna pinch his cheeks he's such a looks cold but is hot type and his CGIs were my favorite by far, a good 9/10 for me Riku.... gross. His whole route left me feeling gross and if i could have dropped him at the end and broken his heart I gladly would have done so and considered that the end. I get it, dude has some issues going on but ugh his route left me disgusted and I was extremely disappointed cuz I am also a fan of the past ex troupe but no, the only good thing in this route was Cielo. I said what i said. -20/10
