Ms. Holmes: The Adventure of the McKirk Ritual Collector's Edition

Short escape the room/hidden object mystery. Nice graphics and animations. Story isn't very interesting but that's not why you play it. Nice variety of different types of minigame puzzles.

Lots of fun! the graphics are great! Mostly point and click. Enjoyed it !

I wished steam had a neutral recommendation, this one would certainly be one of those. There is something about old manors, ghost stories, and a good mystery that captivates the imagination of readers, a thrilling story that is at the same time haunting and cozy due to its familiarity, almost formulaic setup. Hidden object games are often considered part of the “cozy” genre, as they are simple to play and the plot is a series of light brainteasers to take someone from one scene to the next until the story ends. So, it is no surprise that Ms. Holmes would find herself in one of such plots at one point or another. A mysterious ghost has been spotted in the McKirk manor and the lady of the state, Mallory McKirk, comes to the upcoming private detective to figure out the case along with missing jewels and unravel a grave conspiracy. Many of the stronger beats that made the two previous games stand out were mostly gone, like the connecting the dots mechanic and only the superficial aspects remained – it was closer to a June’s Journey segment than a Ms Holmes, which isn’t entirely bad but it was a little underwhelming. Even the story has some points that weren’t properly connected or left in the air to be brushed over. In some cases the game would expand some of the plot points in the bonus chapter, which didn’t happen here – it was one brand new story involving Jane and it was abrupt, short, and with barely any setup. It does feel like the story missed a few drafts and revisions to tighten up the narrative, focusing more on some scenes than properly tying everything together. In the end, there were many gaps and even a character changing names at a point. It is hard to say if the game was rushed out the door or if there was some other factor at play, like something changing in the script that wasn’t properly addressed. There isn’t anything to write home about the puzzles or hidden object scenes. Some still have small puzzles that can be completed by dragging objects or interacting but everything is still intuitive and doesn’t require a jump of logic or talks down to the player. In the end, The Adventure of the McKirk Ritual is a very forgettable hidden object game. If you are looking for a simple, yet cozy game that can be a good call for you. But if you were expecting something to be done with the interesting, albeit cliché, premise then maybe you should wait for sales.

Completed the main story and the bonus chapter. It's a fun puzzle game in general! Enjoyed the most of it except for a very small amount of bugs. :) Thanks for making a cool game! However, I was very disappointed about [spoiler] the ending of the [/spoiler] main story. [spoiler] It ended so suddenly without telling us what's going on in that haunted house, what's with the ghost? What happened to it? Was the hostess sick? It left us with more questions than answers!! Really couldn't believe it ended that way [/spoiler].

This was a great game. I hope they make more Ms.Holmes games

Overall it's a pretty good hidden object game. It can be fully completed fairly quickly, so it's a nice short little game if that's what you're looking for. The graphic is pretty decent and the story is alright. If you're looking for something a bit more challenging then I don't recommend this game, but if you're just looking for something quick and easy then this is your game.
