Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Mouse Killer" is an excercise in vibe coding and AI slop... a completely crap tier tech demo that seems mostly just to exist for the sake of pushing AI slop instead of any real game development taking place. This is an insult to gamers and genuine developers everywhere. What do you do in the game? All you do in this disgusting AI slop is move your mouse around, using right button to aim, left to shoot, and otherwise avoid all the AI slop on the screen. The whole thing feels like it was vibe coded in a day. It's truly awful, one of the worst things on Steam. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This comes across as something unambitious and "simple" in terms of implementation and technical quality and depth, more like a game dev tutorial or an experiment. It’s a classic case of a developer prioritizing the low effort needed to get a game listed on Steam over the actual delivery of a technically sound or compelling product. Whatever is needed to hammer out something "good" enough for Steam Direct self-publishing. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 4 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere.
