Monster Prom

The game is not the cutesy dating sim with fun and beautiful school life dating. Also don't think about roaming around playing the game blind, choosing whatever activities interest you if you want to actually get a prom date. Turn around if you expect any of that from this game. No, this game writing is riddled with American High school humor which consists mainly of drug, drinking, more drug and sex. The crazy evil monsters are fine, that's the charm, I like that part. The American humor however just hit me like a truck and I'm in the emergency room eating from a tube. This is partly my fault for having expectation, but the writing is just terrible. I have no desire to experience American High school life and this game makes me want to even less. About the gameplay, this game has such a strict STAT requirement that for a better part of my 3 or 4 playthroughs I straight up cannot score a prom date. So either I go all in for certain STATs to hit the requirement or I pick whatever option I like, you know, how most people play, and get nothing. Better open a guide if you want to date, which is the worst way to play a dating sim. Also having no ability to save mid game is a wild choice and I do not forward that. Good modding support though.

Possibly the best game ever made. The characters are memorable and loveable, the art is BEAUTIFUL and the writing is funny and clever. It's also insanely replayable because there are so many secret endings to find! It's the most fun on multiplayer mode in my opinion but singleplayer is also good, especially when you're trying to get a particular ending. Downsides: 1. There are some jokes that have aged poorly, for example, there are several scenarios that reference taking non-consensual nude pictures as some sort of wacky escapade. 2. The female characters' designs are often highly sexualised in a way that the male characters are not.

The authors have gone so far in the direction of chaos and caricature that they've completely forgotten about logic, without which all these incredible jokes and the like are simply stupid. On the one hand, I'm being asked to earn points each iteration in a banal way so that the character I want will agree to dance with me at the final prom. On the other hand, this same character suffers from severe script inconsistency, which is why the same answer option is liked by the character in one choice, but for some reason not in another. Not only do I not earn any sympathy points from them this way, but they also kindly take away my honestly earned points :( As a result, almost the only way to get the desired ending in this game is either incredible luck or memorizing all the answer options for various situations. But then what's the point of playing?

Only 60 minutes to figure out your date doesn't seem long enough to get to know anyone and determine anything and if you pick an answer the game doesn't like you get insulted along with losing points. Not my cup of tea.

It is very fun and all the character designs are so peak. The dialogue options are relatable, funny, and so much fun.

FUN, FUN and did I mention FUN? Can be a bit extreme for my taste at times but overall a GREAT experience
