This game gets the greatest two compliments I'm capable of giving; 1. The ending made me cry. Straight up, emotional tears over a game about goofy monsters. 2. I don't want to play it again. I became so attached to the characters, to the changes I had made to their lives and their world, that I just don;t want to risk getting a worse ending. The characters became so real to me, I simply don't think I have the right to take away everything they gained just so I can experience the story again. Maybe one day, but certainly not now. Play this game if you want to laugh. Play this game if you want to cry. Play this game if you want to love. Just remember, as long as you try your best, Monster Loves You Too.
A visual novel about 8 hours long for a first play with some lovely art and an enjoyable story. You gain and use points in Brains, Flesh, and Guts for some options which usually provide a more positive outcome to a choice but may do nothing or harm you as you try to survive as a monster growing up in a hostile world. My only complaints are that a good number of segments are silent and sometimes where there is music it stops at points where it would be appropriate or expected to continue. As well, a playthrough for the good route of keeping your monstrous flaws of Malice, Greed, and Docility low which is kind of how the game assumes you will play (and is more rewarding of a read to do so) is not too different from picking the worst options to be as wicked as possible. This does kind of weaken replaying unless you're achievement hunting. Overall though, it's a solid visual novel that's well worth checking out.
Buy this game... NOW
(For the part solely dedciated to pros and cons, go to section below the one with spoilers) So this time im truly out of words. Monster loves you too made me laugh, cry and reconsider my life. Behind quite colorfull and cartoony (but stunning) graphic lies an emotional journey that makes you feel like you're going to burst from amount of feelings sqeezed inside of you. This game awakned a strange sense of wistfulness in me; Like a show that ended too soon and left me carving for more, or a visit to a playground that I spend a large chunk of my childhood on. It's a hidden gem that I will try to introduce to it my (nearly non-existing) friend group. I bought it on discount, because my broke student ass has a little to none savings, but now I would gladly buy it and pay full price. (And who knows, maybe if my friend shows some interest I will buy it for them)
EMOTIONAL MOMENTS
!!!SPOILERS!!!
Strangely it's not the ending that made me cry. Dont't get me wrong, I grieved during it; for lost moments that my monster could spend with his friends; the fact that they changed, but my monster stayed frozen in time creating rift between them that can can never be fully mended. It gave me a terrible heartache that setteld deep in my bones. But in that moment I didn't expected things to end without some sort of tragedy (did I hoped that the ending would be simply happy? Yes, but just like in reality it's simply not how things work). I shed some tears when Ransid didn't trusted me with and Gorry wanted to protect him from me. Out of our little group of misfits I felt closest to them so it hit me especially hard. But the moment I went full out sobbing was when I discovered that the spirit of a cheerful and so delightfully werid Gorry was broken. I guess that it's quite funny, he wasn't my favorite character, truth to say I liked him least of our little group. He was an annoyence on good day and an outright danger to himself and others on a bad one. That isn't to say that didn't seen some of his good qualities, it's just that when he went spilling his questionable wisdoms I felt a little tired. But I've simply seen so much of me in him. How my antics can annoy others and that disconnect from reality I sometimes entertain to protect myself from begin hurt. It's quite scary, the thought that one can be broken and stripped of their weirdness, a part of them so fundamental that they are nearly unrecognizable without it. And after it, all is left of them is an empty shell.

PROS AND CONS
When I'm checking out reviews I mostly search for cons so I'm going to start with them. And here they are: × Sometimes it feels more like a resource managment thing than visual novel. I know it makes sense gamplay wise that to make some choices you need to spend some points (you cant always chose a good option), and even lore wise, but still... × For me music is quite mid, but it mostly fufills it's role most of the time. × Some can be annoyed by the way some characters are written. Not all can enjoy bizzare humor and over-the-top writing. Pros: + Everthing else ............................................ To devs, Keep doing your thing, gaming world does not deserve you. Thank you for this amazing game.
A 4-5 hours-ish VN experience about the hardships of growing up in a world of monsters, and what can be done to change things for the better.
A lovely story in a well made setting. Graphics is funny, I like it.
Made me tear up as a lead my monsters onward out of the depths and into the stars above. I made friends. Struggled with starvation and ones own instincts. fought for and against cruel masters. It may not be the most complex story. But it touched this monsters heart. (ow)
I liked it, quite the unique game.
