You can change squad members, improve their stats, and combine them to create unique unit types. You can change your squad formation and create battle sequences to gain additional buffs and skills. You spend coins on squad member upgrades during the current run and crystals in the main menu to purchase permanent upgrades.

An interesting take on the VS formula.

An interesting thing to sink some time in. Fun combos to try out. My only critique is that the buffs from the main menu aren't really felt in the gamaplay.
