I have included some wretched choices in the game. I am trusting the player to pick none of them.

Simultaneously what I thought it was gonna be, and so far out of my expectations. Looked like a cute little horror VN that might scratch a slight spooky itch. Instead, I found one of my favorite games of this year so far. Very strong recommendation, support this game now.

This game makes me feel a way that I literally have no clue how to explain. It digs in my brain, pulls wires that probably shouldnt be pulled, its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and gay and gross and beautiful and pure and evil. Its like convoluted esoteric political theory but for psychosexual kinks of the mentally deranged and terminally homosexual. Its perfect. The vibes are rancid in the most immaculate way. I just keep wanting to write more words about it. It isnt afraid to be awful in such an amazing way. A real "disturb the comfortable, comfort the disturbed" type situation. Great game for the broken and mentally ill, not afraid to alienate a more 'normal' audience. Satirizes and tears apart and embraces and reclaims the corporate "girly girl" culture all at the same time. Its just good, very good, really good. Addition: I also highly recommend avoiding the screenshot section of the community hub until youve played a decent amount of the game, as many of the screenshots are spoiler-y
toxic yuri
Credit where credit is due, the art is stunning and the music is incredible, so 10/10 for those elements. As far as the story goes, it somehow feels both convoluted and predictable at the same time. Anything offputting and weird is pushed to such an extreme that it loses any kind of impact it should've had and instead comes off as very tryhard.
"Don't you see? We're covered in the filth we worship. And for that, we're willing to crush innocent people under our feet like dung. While elevating filth to the highest throne." The above lines from the novel encapsulates the main themes present within the most succinctly, in that money is a corrupting force in which human life and human value has been made servant to. Though on the outside the novel seems to be more about supernatural and monstrous horrors, the real horror is what the desperate need for money in order to survive can do to people. How it breaks them, distorts them, transforms them, or makes them lose their humanity. Whether in becoming the sort of monstrous creature that can sit atop the vile throne where such cash flows freely, or the withered husk you become when pulled through that nightmare and trapped in it. It's particularly a deep look into how debt and desperation are used to manipulate people, especially young girls, into sexual exploitation and the coldly accepted horror of it at large. With that as a central theme, it makes the romance within all the more poignant. In that those who are poor or in debt are often treated as subhuman and stripped of being viewed as "whole," yet beyond that choking madness and the suffering it brings, two girls can find comfort in each other. Two girls can find real human connection buried beneath the bondage of endless consumption. In a Hellscape such as that, it's the salvation and rediscovery of the human heart amidst greed's apathy. You play as a broken, weird, and othered girl, and the girl you can find love with is broken, weird, and othered too. You both really don't belong anywhere. You both really don't have any value to the system except in whatever ways they might be able to exploit you for gain. But in each other, there's finally a place to be seen...to exist not as products, not as hocks of meat to be devoured...but as human beings. Human in each other's eyes, despite whatever the world might paint you as, or how you might distortedly view yourself. Relating to the above, I will give this novel extra praise in the option to have the protagonist be a transgender woman, for that element plays amazingly well into the overall themes and narrative. It's not some pointless note, and the extra text added to the game, and how that changes how you might view certain interactions and plot elements, is a hugely positive amplifier overall. It enhances the novel to the point it probably should have been a base element in of itself instead of an optional choice. But back to focus, this game is haunting and horrific. It does not shy away from the depths of depravity and evils humans are capable of falling to, and the disgrace others are willing to endure just to survive. It's painful in that way, with many routes leading to miserable ends, even the good ending being more bittersweet, but overall the message of this novel is a beautiful one that aligns with my own deepest beliefs. A belief in human connections and human relationships over the soul-sucking God of Greed, and how these connections can carry us through the horrors, and bring back hope in the most hopeless of circumstances. It's a story about love in the end...and how love can save us when we feel our soul has died. This is a special novel. One of those pieces of media I knew immediately would hold a sacred place in my heart all its own and stay with me forever. I can't sing its praises enough. It's life-changing, so I hope you'll buy it to see how it changes you too. P.S. (I was very serious with this review, but the game is also amazingly cute, full of very silly fun, and super duper gay. Lesbian love shall carry the torch through all the darkness of this life. <3)
I've deleted and rewritten this review ten times. I just don't have the vocabulary to describe how it made me feel. I'm happy. I'm sad. I feel like I've been very selfish in my life. I wish I could do more. I want to sit on the beach. I'm going to go draw now.
I adore this game, it's like it was made for my taste, awsome visuals, exentric and cryptic dialog, much symbolism, a wonderfully strange expirience. This game once again proves games are art.
good job ♥♥♥♥♥♥ threw up and cried myself to sleep
