It started in your foot. Now it’s in your head. All that remains is the command: GO UP. Meet strange neighbors. Make bad trades. Every ascent teaches you what you should have done differently.

About
The only thought left is: GO UP.
The building has thirty floors. Your body has problems - hunger, thirst, exhaustion. The infection doesn’t care. It only wants altitude.
Your body is in shambles... but the foot keeps climbing.
The building is not haunted. The people in it are not monsters - and they want things. Junk. Food. Favors. Someone to do something mildly humiliating to their neighbor.
A few of them know things they shouldn't. And maybe what they know has something in common.
You're the only one collecting the pieces.
The building is the same every time you climb it. The neighbors are the same. The trades are the same. The vending machine on the ground floor has the same stock.
What changes is what you know.
Every run, you learn something. A shortcut. A better trade. An item you thought was useless until it saved your life. Slowly, the building starts to make sense.
You’ll know what to do next time.
But your foot isn’t waiting.
MOLDRISE features a full-length original soundtrack, composed by Mike Klubnika, creator of Buckshot Roulette, s.p.l.i.t., and Machine Party.
First-person survival horror. Retro aesthetics. A thirty-floor apartment building with no empty floors and no happy endings.

This is a tightly structured experience that does an excellent job of balancing horror and humor. It plays like a mystery game because, apart from the numerical code to a specific keypad, nothing changes between runs. Once you know how to do everything, you can beat it in about five minutes (and I wrote a guide for how). The real joy is in exploring the tiny, disgusting world you're trapped in, though, juggling your physical needs as you try to complete various quests to get the next thing you need. Along the way you'll learn about your disease, and fragmentary information on the effect it's having on the world outside. Even played blind, Moldrise is not a long game, but it's all killer, no filler. Probably my favorite new game of the year so far.
It feels like a playground to explore with always more things to find and people to meet. It's fast paced in the sense that a "run" can take only 20 minutes or so, but it lives off the replayability and exploring different paths. Obviously tons of style, great audio and music. Runs flawlessly, seems bug free on launch. Easily worth the 12 bucks.

Disclaimer: This game is a product of love and care. Even tho I would not recommend it I can say, "This is a good game". So why wouldn't I recommend the game then? - The game does not remotely have enough content to justify its price. - The gameplay consists to 90% of walk from point a to b, take a "healing" item when your bars go up. - You are railroaded to an unbelievable degree. The game pretends there are choices. There really aren't. It is trial & error and tries to embrace it but it becomes pretty dull pretty fast. There aren't multiple solutions or outcomes to any given situation other then: Advance, Die, gain a hint to "unlock" a short path that is mandatory for advancing. If this all doesn't bother you: Buy it. The dialogue is charming, the short paths are elegant and the atmosphere is great (for the first 20 minutes)
What a fantastic short light horror rogue like. I had a lot of fun exploring the small world, uncovering things, and figuring out the systems throughout my handful of runs. $12 feels a littleeee expensive for a game that took me about 2.25 hours to beat and just under 3 hours to 100%, but I'm happy to pay the price for a small indie team. Great job with this one!
In this game the visual style, the sound effects and the dialogue blend together into a great atmosphere that is rarely seen elsewhere. Although the game is short, it has so many creative elements and such a strong narrative design, that it only enhances the experience.
This game kinda makes me want to get up on da roof after i've ate some of deez nuts. Recommended.
