The beta key for the final Modiverse update that includes unfinished cars is "kjmodbetatesters" This game was dead on arrival. Let me get this out of the way, Modiverse wasn't meant to be a scam, it was abandoned likely from fear. The origins of this game (at least according to the creator, KillerJim) was that there was a dispute between KillerJim and the creator of Pavlov VR. What the dispute was about was never revealed, but it ended with Jim deciding to create a VR game being a direct competitor to Pavlov VR. Over the course of development, people were offered access to a closed beta for modders, but the majority of them didn't have VR setups so the game's direction was changed to be similar to both Pavlov and Garry's Mod. Unfortunately the game was given hardly any help by experienced developers as they were more interested in making their own games than helping develop mods and community features for someone else's. This leads to the major first problem, the majority of modders for this game were beginners, Jim didn't hire anyone experienced enough to create interesting mods. As for the beginners, they asked for help with more advanced mods and instead of being given direct help they were instead told to "get good." An example of this is when I tried hiring an experienced developer to create functioning doors for the game. They worked in the editor but broke in-game. I asked for help but instead was just repeatedly told it should be working absolutely fine as supposedly everything made in Unreal should work in Modiverse right out of the box, which clearly wasn't the case here. The game has it's own function set that is hardly explained at all. Alongside the lack of help, the modders were given hardly documentation. Modiverse has a website that has pages ready for documentation but most of them are either empty or have brief descriptions of functions but don't guide you through how to implement and use them in your projects. Third major problem is that KillerJim is hardly active on Discord, he stays silent for months and then when he's active for five minutes all he says is that "The update is next week" and that week never arrives. Instead that update is left unfinished and locked to beta testers. It's never going to be pushed to the public branch of the game. Here's his own words about being a lazy developer: "♥♥♥♥ off; literally spent 1 year of my life building a game that nobody would write any mods for.. with a community that just wanted "more".." Even though this "more" stuff was literally asking for BASIC FUNCTIONS of a sandbox game. (Info provided by Apple Scout 727) And now for a list of smaller things that add up to why the game died; -Lack of controller support, so it's not going to be optimized for the Steam Deck -Lack of VR support, the code is there but KillerJim refuses to enable it -Feature requests have been ignored, so no player-scaling, no offline support, no LUA code support (Nanos World supports it, so it is TOO doable in Unreal Engine, Red!) -Bug reports are also ignored, and there is quite a lot of them We know that KillerJim has a full-time job and a family to support, but it's no excuse for him to not admit his game is dead. There is nobody playing it anymore, it's peak amount of players was around 20 during a beta test. Modiverse is dead. If you're wanting a sandbox game that is actually getting active support, I have two games for you. S&Box is the official successor to Garry's Mod and already has everything this game lacks. As for Unreal Engine, keep an eye on Nanos World as it aims to also have everything this game lacks as well and is constantly being updated unlike Modiverse by the team that developed Just Cause 2 Multiplayer on Steam. What is the point of this? Use Garry's Mod instead.
The game has great potential so far. However, it's extremely early to recommend the game at its current state. For one, charging $23 AUD is ridiculous considering the game's state. $5-$10 would be more reasonable considering again, the game's early state. That's not to say however there aren't benefits to the game. Screwing around in Sandbox as well as playing Deathrun and the Zombies gamemode was really fun, especially when playing it with friends and overall was a huge highlight to my experience playing Modiverse so far. The game looks pleasant and I feel that there is a lot of passion towards the development of the game as well as the mods that go along with it. (Unlike Mod&Play.) The game's default HUD however, is extremely unappealing. Unlike the clean and modern looking UI of the main menu, the game's default HUD in gamemodes like Sandbox, is more akin to early 2000s web design and is extremely inconsistent and an eye-sore. And I hope that the default HUD is redesigned to look more clean and modern. I also hope to see more things to do with the default game (more tools, props, entities, playermodels and ragdolls, as well as the addition of vehicles.) There's also issues with running servers as well as playing on servers. There are points where after playing on a server for a few minutes, the game will either crash or the server session would just abruptly shut down. One instance even resulted in a friend of mine having to restart their entire computer because they couldn't close the game after the server froze. Which is a major issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Finally, there's a lot of inconsistencies with the game's branding. In some cases, the game is called Modiverse. But in other cases, it's called KJMod. It's a major flaw that needs to be addressed as soon as possible as it can make the game come off as unprofessional. Overall, the game is really fun to play, has a lot of potential and if anything, I have a lot of respect for the work the developer has done for the game as well as the community. However, for those who are looking for a good Garry's Mod alternative, this is definitely too early to recommend for those who want to play for the long-term. It's definitely got a decent amount of content to get the ball rolling. But with the flaws, bugs and glitches that the game has, it's too early to recommend unfortunately.
Modiverse has a warm and helpful community, a beginner friendly modding system, and some online tutorials to help get started. Creating a map is much easier than one would expect. The amount of content available now is simply a sample taste of what the community is developing. Also, Jiggy
The game has serious potential. The price of $17 though is absolute insanity. This is no more than a $5 game with the chance to become a $20 game later down the line, but in this stage it can't be worth that much. Overall the experience was nice. The zombies and death run gamemodes greatly exceeded expectation though the DarkRP leaves more to be wanted.
I originally gave this a positive review for potential, but now the devs have abandoned the game and are pretending like it's finished on the discord even though they promised updates like VR support, cars, etc. and is full of bugs. They were claiming originally they had a campaign set up to advertise the game to a player base, but then just never did. So currently Modiverse is a dead game with no player base and no updates. Just wait for S&Box, don't waste money on this
Gros potentiel, juste faite des mises a jour, merci
Very friendly developer community, nice documentation for making mods with it, and has quite the amount of mods currently and will expand in the future, the developer is passionate about the game, which is great to see. The game modes are fun and enjoyable. Still a few quirks to polish out (Which can be seen on the Trello board tracker) but overall I'm happy with the state of the game. Would recommend.
jeux magnifique je recommande à tout le monde de l'acheter
