There is no tutorial or at least even a video series going through the features and how to use the software. There is a community wiki that is basic at best. I went to the website nothing there just some feature lists and basic sales information. On steam there is a link to GitHub docs which barely has anything also. Playing around with it I figured out some things. The software has a lot of features, and I can tell it took a long time to build and there is a lot you can do. I think it would be good to hire a UI/UX person because it would be lightyears better. I'm not able to record and fight against my recording like in some promo videos, which a tutorial would help with. I can record but then it exports to fbx via blender It looks like instead of just fbx with the animations encoded but when I try to export it says blender is not found. I Joined the discord and search for this issue and few others seem to have it also. It was talking about environment variables and so on. So, I set that up but still didn't work after resetting and trying some other ideas. I also see others in the discord asking about a tutorial too. I wouldn't have bought this if I could've tried to export in demo. The demo doesn't allow you to export. I bought it and waited a month before trying the real version, which is my own fault. So, I will have to hope this software improves in the future and get proper documentation and tutorials. I also think the demo should allow for at least 2 exports just set a variable then cut it off, it will save a lot of headaches to those wanting to try it out.
I've always wanted something like this. Mocap Fusion is a great budget tool for creating basic animations, especially good if you already know how to use hand-drawn animation! The program itself has many useful features, there's even iPhone Truedepth sensor facial motion capture (facecap and eye tracking). Works great on my oculus rift s. There are a lot of avatar settings you can tweak a lot of tracking, head, arms and legs. You can also connect HTC Vive Trackers. I use mocap for SFM animations, I can make a mocap animation in seconds and port it just as fast, but there are some serious wishes, for each model you have to find the right rig, I would really like a feature like Auto rig for SFM models. ipi mocap have something like this, i just use random model from sfm, click on model export dmx animation, and in recorder i apply this dmx animation rig to my skeleton (avatar), i can get the rig i need in seconds, i don't know how hard it is to do, however it would be very handy and useful to have a similar feature in Mocap fusion, as well as I would like to be able to use ready-made animations in the program itself, such as sit, lie down and the like, at the moment you can run, jump, fight and a few more dynamic movements. At the end I would like to recommend the developer's Discord channel, there is a lot of useful information there, and the developer himself responds quite quickly!
Well, first off, this product DID work in the demo, but not now, whenever I try to record a new character (after switching avatars) the recording of the other one disappears and I can't make a recording like that obviously. I have refunded, may check out again in the future though.
Evaluation edited from negative to positive but it's more like 50/50 to me. Mocap Fusion is a complex tool that would be great if the dev behind was helping as he should. Tutorials are quite messy, not organized and depending on what you're willing to do, it's a hussle to find the correct information. Also, there is an additional plugin for unreal which is 55$, not as mentionned in the description. On discord the dev is answering subscribers' questions but it's like he's just not really paying attention and it can be frustrating. Despite the problematic support, this tool offers a lot. I would just not recommend if you're looking for an easy solution. The dev is really skilled and created something extremely tweakable and powerful for motion capture.
The app is great overall use if your willing to fork over more money on supported devices. Bought it for the Beta Quest version thought I needed to fork over cash to see more of the menu only to realize it was behind the wire mode. Quest Beta only focuses on face, eye tracking, and hand tracking. However, no slime trackers are available. You win and lose some essentially. Virtual camera are supported but if you do enable them it will just crash the app. Wire mode is not friendly when trying to setup cameras.
I'm now working on a fully Funded Animated Sci-Fi Series and Just wanted to say, after several days of Testing.. I can confidently say hands down Mocap Fusion is revolutionary in terms of working with CGI/Animated films. Kudos to whoever the developer is. The feature set and capabilities are beyond what I've even seen even in Hollywood. Such a system allows for mocap actors to see the environment, while they embody their animated character and interact with the entire cast in a Virtual Environment. Nuts, I've run this concept by other film makers and they were speechless. Is this for everyone? This is specifically for someone who needs motion capture data to export to other applications like blender unreal engine iclone. My alternative is to buy two motion capture suits with Mocap gloves and a rokoko head rig along with an iphone . That investment can range from $5000 to $12,000 per actor ! I happen to have a budget That can accommodate such an investment however I feel that Mocap inside of VR is more revolutionary than asking actors to pretend that they're on some type of sci-fi spaceship when they're really looking at the walls of an open space in a gym etc Obviously what comes out of this wouldn't be absolutely final nor perfect but neither is the data that comes out of motion capture suits. You still need to do cleanup and perhaps even still apply the iphone live link face for those really refined facial expressions as using the metaquest pro does capture your facial expressions through this app it isn't as accurate, however this is an excellent starting point for later refinements.
Don't Waste Your Money On This At All. This Motion Capture Software Captures Anything But Motion I've Tried All 3 Of The Software It """Works""" With But All Of Them Don't Work. Unity Is Stuck In An Old Version Meaning You Can't Use It For Avatars, SFM Doesn't Even Work As Advertised Even When You Dig Into The Files And Find The MDL's And Piece The Model Together Perfectly, And Blender ONLY Does 1 Animation In A Blend File. This Program Sucks And The Dev Has Done NOTHING To Fix Anything For This. 100$ For A Piece Of Software That Fails To Do What It Was Created To Do.
Great product for motion capture in Virtual Reality. More people should know about it. :D
Works what i need it for. Simple mocap recording with Vive trackers and headset and even finger tracking with the valve index controllers. It is certainly not super intuitive and the menus are frankly overloaded with things. But i figured out within 30 minutes how to record and export my mocaps as a .bvh file for blender which is all i need it for. It is expensive for my use but still worth it.
Hell yeah!!! The owner of the game thank you so much now I can make my 3D human animations a lot alike a VRChat video. My mum got this game for me for me to make my yt channel grow, this is the most best VR Mocap in the world! So much fun and better than using the actual vr streaming video game which I can make Mocap animations look better and to make my animation gameplay better like VRChat I appreciate your development and keep up with the best work. Everyone is believing you because you’re the best. I would recommend this for other VR users that have a YouTube channel so what are you waiting for? Just buy the game one day you’ll get used to it and you’ll become a pro at it. This will take some months but trust me this will make your animations look a lot better
