In Tobiano, horses aren’t born knowing how to be ridden. You start the training process by backing the horse, then work your way through dressage movements to unlock new levels of training. Just like in real life, horses are not always successful when learning new movements. Horses also have temperaments and fitness levels which will impact their ride ability. Horses can get stressed by high demands like new exercises or strenuous work. For now Tobiano is focused on dressage, but jumping and other disciplines are in progress and will be added later on.

Tobiano features a complex breeding system that includes personality traits, ten different color genes, and conformation traits. A mare’s nutrition needs and conformation will change throughout the pregnancy, which lasts almost a year in game. Refine your line by strategically selling horses and breed for more valuable horses.
Breed for color, temperament, and conformation
There are ten different color genes, and multiple phenotypes for each. There are literally billions of unique coats in the game. Also, grey horses get lighter with age!
You can’t make a horse faster or more agile with feed. In Tobiano, feed is made up of different nutrients found in the real world, like protein, energy, vitamins and minerals. A horse’s nutrient requirements depend on their workload, size, and life stage. You can grow some of your own feed at your farm to be more self-sufficient.
Horses live out together in paddocks
Tobiano has a tack shop where you can buy gear for horse and rider. All tack comes in different colors and styles, so there are endless combinations that can add to your horse’s individuality. Tack is unlocked with gold which can be earned by maintaining your login streak or doing daily quests. Unlocked tack can also be crafted in the workshop. Spare tack can be sold for an extra income or equipped on your horses.
The tacking up area in the horse profile lets you save an "outfit" for each individual horse
Tobiano is semi-open world with a town center, home stables, and trails to explore. You can take your horses out to train, do quests, or complete daily challenges.

STOP: If you are expecting a finished, polished horse game by a big studio with loads of money and time - do NOT get this game. It is not that. What it is however, is a passion project from a single developer who is doing his damn hardest to get this game off the ground and make it into something great. Anyone who cannot see the potential in this game is blind or has been spoiled by AAA studios for too long. This is an INDIE game, it is not backed by 1,000s of dollars nor a huge team of animators and developers. It is by ONE PERSON. And the state it is in already? Absolutely breath taking. I am floored by the amount of work that has gone into this game. Do the characters look amazing? No, they don't. Do the horses look amazing? I've seen better, but I have seen worse, too. At the end of the day, there are the following features: - A questline - Breeding - Conformation - Dressage mechanics - Care mechanics - Foals - Age progression (horse) - Tack and clothing options - Multiple locations and NPCs That is A LOT, and some of those - some top tier horse games don't even have. So, if you're buying this expecting a fully fledged game, go get Ranch of Rivershine or something, I guess. BUT, if you're looking for a project you can follow along with, give suggestions for, get regular updates for, and see it bloom into something amazing, buy this game and join the Discord. Kanel, you and your game are phenomenal. Do not let the entitled reviews get you down. I am so excited for Tobiano and so happy I gave it a chance.
Fun game, but theres almost nothing to do. For the price, it shouldn't be this underdeveloped. Either make it cheaper or work on it more before you release it.
This game is not even close to ready for EA. Certainly not at this price point.
This game is still in development. The potential is there. The Dev is responsive and actively working on issues brought to them by players. It's worth giving it a shot once it's more fully developed. It's one of the few horse managing/breeding sims out there that I am enjoying. It's early access right now, so it needs alot of work still but I have high hopes.
no major updates in months, constant bugs and crashes, hard to look at for to long, and there really is nothing to do, no point in training if i can click one button and its done for me. there are so many other equine games in early development that are miles better then this (horse racing manager, horses of hoofprint bay, legend of khiimori), your money would be better spent there. this game need YEARS worth of development before it will be actually playable.
As an Equestrian game connoisseur, I went into this game not expecting much, as other Equestrians know let downs in this genre are common and promised features either don't deliver as anticipated or are just never implemented, I'm so happy to say that Tobiano is one of the very few that is able to promise- and deliver, and might I say- It's incredibly impressive, especially as this game is made by a solo dev. Other than being stuck to dressage (Right now) the game allows you complete freedom over managing your ranch, You can choose whether to ride, or use the in game menus to train and compete- There's something for every player, whether you prefer the managing side of things like Horse Isle 3 or Horse racing manager or roleplay- this game never forces your playstyle, and I like that. The Dev is an absolute delight, Takes every single piece of feedback seriously and is so engaged with their community, They have created a fantastic piece of art in their game but also a great space for likeminded people to connect, and man! Do they fire out updates like no tomorrow! I will always recommend Tobiano, So far it's exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to see which direction it goes.
I love this game, for it being a beta it is a little bit expensive. but i love all of the mechanics and the breeding is very realistic! And the dressage is super fun to train!
This game is a fun, fairly realistic horse breeding sim. There is a lot of polish still needed, but the developer is continuously working on bug fixes and improving gameplay. There is so much potential, and even as it is right now it is a lot of fun to play and breed the horses!
This is an amazing game. Of course its got things that need to be tweaked- its made by a single developer doing their absolute best. They are active on the discord server, listening to the people. As for the technical aspect, it could use a lot of fine tuning and the graphics arent great (except for the horses, they are stunningly well done), but there is so, so much potential. Even in its limited stage right now Im having a ball playing around with the genetics and the training. As a horse girl, seeing proper training systems and dressage principles and movement is amazing. If you have any love for the sport, lifestyle or the animals, get the game. Support an actual passion project for all the 10 year olds in your heart that saw a horse for the first time and fell in love.
I have very little play time in the game because it is just too difficult to play on PC, controls & GUI are intended for the mobile version, and have yet been optimized for PC play. Movement is hard, you have to "Scroll" With the mouse by drag and clicking as if you were using touch screen. I have faith in this game that it can become something amazing, but I think the price tag is much too steep for such an undeveloped game. I will likely come back to purchase this game when it has been optimized for PC and has been developed more. I have seen game at the $3 price tag with more features, and better development than this. $25 is the price of a finish game, not an under developed early access game. I hope the developer continues their hard work and dedication to the game, and I'm sorry I couldn't be an early supporter, i just do not think the game in this status is worth the price, so I have requested a refund. Edit: I just went and looked, and this price is $5 cheaper then two fully completed Games, Ranch of Rivershine, and Horse Tales: Emerald Valley ranch, both which have the price tag of $29.99. This game is no where near the quality and completin of these games in its current state, and should not have such a similar price tag.
