like a missong youth time, and im 19. wonderfull game, one of the best ive ever played
Mixtape was awesome. I absolutely loved the vibe, the art style, and the overall atmosphere. Every moment felt nostalgic, and the soundtrack was perfect. The song selection captured the spirit of the '90s so well and made every scene even more memorable. This is what gaming should feel like fun, emotional, immersive, and full of personality. Highly recommended.
A perfect case of "what you see is what you get", where the whole game is fully described by the title in one word. It's literally a mixtape of memories, feelings, emotions and vibes, which is why the game never really lets you get bored, changes things quite quickly and gives you different stuff to do. The gameplay segments are not as involved as RPG or action games, but they serve their purpose. To those who say that the game plays itself, I could say that any game is designed to play itself on a certain level, but it doesn't mean that this way is what you are supposed to do or are allowed to do. For example, you can stand still and press no buttons at all in many games and the timer will end or you will die or something else, and the game accounts for that, but it's not everything that it allows you to do, you can just choose to not interact with that part of the game. Or, in open-ended games you don't have to complete every single activity to make it to the end, but it doesn't mean you did something wrong or the game did something for you, you just chose to do whatever you wanted to, but not everything that the game allowed you to. The same concept can be applied here - you can choose to just watch it and not press any buttons, where some people would be better off just watching a youtube video, as so many people say, which would just be your choice, because why would you buy a game to deliberately not press any buttons. Some people will say it's more like a movie and should be a movie instead, and I agree that it could be a great movie, in fact it definitely borrows a lot of elements from high-school English-language (US, UK, Australia probably, not sure about every country and every culture) movies and TV Shows of the 90s and 2000s, but being part of these memories is also what makes them matter for the player. A set movie, where you can't really control anything, would not convey the same things. The story basically doesn't exist and I would even say it doesn't matter, because what the story tries to tell is also a mixtape of emotions and feelings, not a literal cinematic story, which allows it to be more weird and supernatural, maybe even unnatural (which is also true for the genre of high-school movies, I think, where certain actions and interactions are not realistic for most school students or teenagers, but that's why such movies exist and have their own classification - they are a directed representation of teenage life, not a documentary). The main gameplay is centered around the vibes and you (the player) who controls what those emotions look, feel and sound like, and it's only up to you to vibe with the game or not. Many people will say that the whole game is childish, but a lot of other people will say that playing any videogame is childish too, so the definition and feeling of childish is very subjective, and the game depends on the subjective point of view, not objective. Some things are not exactly objectively appropriate for the time or maybe some of them are a little wrong, but, again, they don't matter as much as the subjective feelings from those things, even if it's "just nostalgia-bait", it's only one part of the whole picture the game paints. Talking about pictures, it's also kind of surprising to see how you can do some things like take pictures or paint as a short 30-seconds segment, and the game will save that and show you the same pictures and paintings throughout the game at certain points, which again cannot be recreated in a regular movie or TV show. All in all, it's a great collection of abstract memories from the characters' lives but kind of targeted at the players to hit some spots, which only you can allow to be hit. Don't try to decode or decipher any of the events logically, just vibe with the game, and if you can't, then maybe you need a different mood, which is normal. The game is deffinitely not for everyone, but neither are most games, so I'd say it's a 10/10 just because it knows what it does, it does it very well and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Curti demais o game.
