Reviews
Simun the developer at T3ampo reached out to my business email to do a collab on this game. There will be a game play review video dropping on my YouTube page for this. Here are my thoughts on the game while its an okay game it need alot improving to make it better to engage people. The game seems simple at first you move a ship and shoot out colors and have to switch between the color spectrum to destroy and avoid asteroids and a few boss and collect energy thats about it. there is no other enemies. game is short and hard near the end you will die a lot. when you get low on health and die it gives you options to answer scientific questions and if you get it right you can extend your life once and if you answer wrong you die and have to start that level over. it does however get very repetitive and you will lose interest quickly. i do think its a cool concept with what they are trying. I must address the elephant in the room with the game. so this is Developer feed back. T3ampo please do this for the game to make it better. 1. First the constant pop up words like superstar, astrochamp every time you shoot rocks is okay at first but after a min its gets overbearing and make you want to shut the sound off and or quit playing there needs to be a setting to turn it off or just remove it entirely from the game. 2. add settings menu to change screen resolution, adjust graphics, sounds, music, control/key config, menu is less than desired its confusing to navigate feels cluttered and needs to be more simplified layout. 3. game need to have more content just shooting asteroids / dodging / changing colors / fighting a couple bosses isnt enough to keep people engage. instead of shoot rocks the whole time and collecting energy you should add an assortment of enemy types that would engage the player and give a challenge to fight and want to get to the next level. 4. more game modes would be a plus like endless waves of survival, rewards challenges. while Mix-it reload is ok its lackluster at best and need alot improvement to make it worth the money. i cant recommend the game currently with the state its in. if it was free i would say yes. ill come back to it later on and see if it any changes were done to recommend.
They sent me a copy to make a video about this game. I obviously did, in my comical exaggerated way, so don't take it to the heart. Maybe I missed something, it's my first time playing. It was fun editing it. --- What I loved: - The artwork. - The entire concept of using light and colours as powers. - The concept of answering questions mid-game. - The fact they remembered Portuguese exists. - Makes you want to play again. - It's just lovely. --- What is wrong to me: - Needs better menus (sound/music/volume options, more configs). - We should be able to configure the controls anytime. - Having to discover what every keyboard key and icon does, takes part of the fun of the game. A small tutorial bar saying "Press [this] to do [that]" would help, principally in the later phases. This bar could adapt to our key changes in the menu too. - The translation needs to be revised (Portuguese is mixed with Spanish, English has punctuation problems on my end). --- Dreaming high: - Imagine if this had multiplayer. - Imagine if this had an item shop. - Imagine if this had an endless mode. (Does it?) - Imagine if players online could make their own phases. - Imagine all the people. --- Score: - Idea: 10/10. - Music: 8/10. - Voice and sound effects: 4/10. Creative, but loud and too repetitive. "Interstellar! EPIC! BASED! GIGACHAD!!!" - My enjoyment in a stressful day being destroyed by rocks, not knowing how to switch my colours: 6/10 (skill issue). - Šimun (the guy who e-mailed me the game): 10/10. --- Final Score: - Flamengo 3 × 1 Chelsea.
I'll go straight to the point, this game is alright, but I simply refuse to finish it for these reasons: - The game has no settings menu, which sucks! - The tutorial is bare bones at best, not explaining or demonstrating enough. - The game does not work well with a keyboard. - The game needs more polishing mechanics and asset wise. While these points hinder the game being good, here are some shining points: - The concept of the game is simple, straightforward. - The art is good and charming. Overall, this game has potential if it was to be updated and if more content was added.
Mix it! presents light physics puzzles with reflections and refractions in an arcade setting. Levels introduce spectra concepts naturally, visuals clear and engaging. Good for relaxing.
Played it for a bit. Didn't had time to go and finish it. I stopped just before the last level. While interesting and with some cool visuals, I feel that's poorly explained and I had to guess the buttons for myself. Also I missed some options to properly set a resolution. It's not a bad game. Kudos for the idea and the effort. Good try.
I think overall not a bad game, a fun cozy astropilot game to occupy your time with decent music, vibe and visuals. I think the unique parts are having to alter light source to see obstacles as well as questions to answer to get a last chance life. I wish it had settings, including volume control settings, and game control settings. Some controls I didn't even know, which should be displayed in game, or though a better tips system. Has potential for good music, but somewhat limited. Also, should have many more variations on levels, given the different light sources, and introduction of more enemies.
MixIt! is a fun and creative puzzle game that’s easy to learn but becomes more challenging over time. The core mechanics and pacing work very well. Some HUD overlap and confusing color combinations can affect readability in later stages. I also made a full review video on YouTube sharing more detailed impressions. youtube.com/@GameReplayNews
I do like the art work. The design of the characters are cute, like Dexter's Lab look. I also like the little bits of knowledge about color, but I feel like the devs could take it to the next level by talking about gravity bending light in space. I do have to say that the game is pretty short, even for $4. I do wish the devs would use a chromatic wheel instead of mashing L1 and R1 to find the opposing colors. last thing is what is up with the last level. The we are introduced to breaking asteroids with the opposite color ship, but then they throw that idea out the window by increasing the defense of the asteroids. There is not enough time to switch ship to destroy the asteroids.
