Is this game's development over? I was so excited for this game to come out, bought it instantly, and thoroughly enjoyed it; besides some expected bugs and lack of content. The lack of content was promised by the devs to be swiftly and thoughtfully added as times moved on. By thoughtfully I mean they would listen to the player's input and possibly implement puzzlles like or similar to the input. Haven't pllayed the game in a while because, as i'm sure a lot of others were doing/thinking, I wanted to wait for more content to be added as it was pretty boring after about an hour or two at the time. So, as i was about to play today, I noticed the last update was in mid March....right after its release. Since then it seems a few new simuators have been released and even more to be released in the future. Does this mean that after one of the dev's simulators is released, it's basically forgotten about and then they move on to their next project? I'm simply curious. Would never want to bash a game dev because I know what they do is incredibly hard/long/frustrating/and sometimes boring work. I just wish there would have been more updates since the last time I played and still have a little faith that more content will be added. Can't recommend this game right now unfortunately until that is done. If it's on sale I would say to grab it, but if not maybe wait and watch the updates (as I am going to and will definitely change review). Keep up the good work and give us more bombs and defusal tools! wooooo
Hooolllly ♥♥♥♥... What a shame. Lots of potential but that's all it is. Visually the game's graphics look good enough. But the controls. Holy. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥. I've never seen controls so bad Let's start with their "training". The instructions for diffusing the pipe bomb would be more helpful if they were written in a completely on-the-fly made up language because the instructions supplied might as well not even be there they are so confusing and bad. Bad start. Moving on. Let's talk about the first mission. Diffuse some bombs in a parking garage. You go to the parking garage and start running up the floors (along the roadway, not the stairs -- fine whatever. But you come to a floor where there's a van sideways in the ramp to the next floor. You're given this tiny sliver of sidewalk (as the edge of the ramp) to jump up to the couple-inch high edge. Yeah, you can't walk up to the sidewalk edge lip like a normal person. You have to jump to it. .... not good... Then once you manage to land on it without falling the hell off of it to the floor below, you then have to crouch because the ceiling (the floor of the next floor) is too low. This wouldn't be an issue if where you're at would allow you to move forward. Instead you have to go around the van on this tiny little edge-lip since your character can't just roll around the corner of the van by push themselves into the van at a slight angle like most normal games. No. You gotta go AROUND the van while crouched on this tiny little edge... SON OF A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ I fell again! ... I'm starting to get aggravated! ... Finally you manage to make it around, and now you gotta sprint jump across an alley. Yeah, because my confidence in this game's physics are so high, I'm sure I'll make it. Miraculously I do. I run across the catwalk and around to the back of the building, and find some sort of engine. I dunno, it's green and highlighted so I guess I turn it on... Click. Ok, great it's on. Now what? Running back and forth to the catwalk and the back of the building, I don't see what I'm supposed to do. Wait there's a ladder, I can't reach it. I guess I gotta run and jump to it? I see some boxes, lemme try jumping onto them... holy ♥♥♥♥ this game is bad. first sprint jump failed. Second sprint jump I make it to another box next to the ladder. Ok jump along the wall but out a little and turn around while in mid-air to try to catch the ladder. Nope. Wait there's a junction box with a jacknife lever. Pull it? Ok fine, I guess I do. *ladder starts to come down* Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? Who in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world motorizes a damn fire escape ladder? Stupid. Just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. Come the hell on. ... I'm starting to get pissed! ... Fine, I'll climb the ladder, run up to it look up and keep running so as to climb the rungs? No. Jump into the ladder? No. Ok jump into the ladder and spam spacebar and E... Wait that looks like that sort've did something. Try it again... Try it again... Try it again... Wait. ok so it's just E? Fine. Ok my character is too short to get to the ceiling of a level ontop of the building that had the ladder. Move some boxes. Should be pretty simmmmm.... no, no. I almost said it... But I'm not going to. So far, I'm not impressed. Guaranteed moving this damn box is going to be some crazy friggen ordeal. Pick up box, attempt to place... hoooollllly ♥♥♥♥. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.... You have SERIOUSLY got to be kidding me.... Oh this is somebody's joke isn't it? The box falls over and rolls off the roof of the level, I'm trying to place it on, back down to my feet. Try again. now it rolls over and falls and wedges itself between the level and the roof-fence. ... why am I still playing this? why do I do this to myself??? .... Grab a different box and try it again placing it EVER so damn gingerly. Ok now jump onto the box, so I can jump over the ceiling fence. ... breathe... just. breathe... ... Try it again, ok I'm over the roof-fence. Hit V for sapper vision, the next bomb is in a direction passed another roof-fence with a giant pipeline in front of it. Maybe I can jump onto the pipeline and over the fence. How to get to the top of the pipeline... Oh. There's little mini-levels sticking up that I should be able to jump across to then jump across to the top of the pipeline. Oh ♥♥♥♥ me. No. Please. PLEASE. Anything but that. ... More boxes ... Ok looks like I don't have to move them this time. Whew! Try to jump onto the box... WTF?! Why is motion blur on and causing lots of hitching?! I specifically made sure that ♥♥♥♥ is OFF... OFF! Stupid f'ing game do you know what off means?! Check settings again... Yep, it's set to off... Fine whatever, I'll keep going. I jump onto one box, and then onto the first mini-level, so far so good. With the lagging and motion blurring, I try this several more times. Eventually I make it onto the box, and jump onto the next mini level. I jump across to the next mini level after that.... Ok. Here we go, I just have to make it onto the top of the pipeline... ♥♥♥♥ ME! I wind up overshooting it and land between the pipeline and the roof-fence... I'm gonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ <heavy grumbling> someone. This has got to be someone's sick idea of a joke. There's no other explanation. That's gotta be it. That's it. I'm sure of it. That's what I'm going with because the thought someone can be that incompetent at making physics this bad and level design this atrocious is a horrifying thought. Yes. That's it. It's deliberate. Ok, let's try it again... On to the box, jump across to the mini level, then across to the next mini level aaaaaand this time too short... Ok I think I have a sure fire method this time. There's brackets holding the pipeline in place every so often that surround the pipeline from the outside, meaning there's SLIGHTLY more landing space if I aim for those, and slightly even more landing space if I position myself at an angle to it... jump on to the box. Jump to the mini level, jump to the next mini level. Position myself just right... hold sprint first (don't need any stupid motion blur ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or some other stupid podunk reason for hitching to cause the game not to recognize I'm in a sprinting state) run aaaaaand ... Ok I'm done. I'm only 16 minutes in and I've already seen way more than enough. It took longer to type up this infuriating experience than it took to get to that point.
This is very much just barely an OK game. It is VERY short and simple. No real thinking to it. Just walk and cut. GREAT idea though and with a lot of work, it could be a good game. Worth about $0.99 and the money I paid for it is way too much. If you can catch it on sale, then I'd buy it. Otherwise and knowing what I know now... Don't discount it completely as it could be a decent game later on!
I've been here for the entire history of this game, and i can tell you straight up; it's a mess. a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess. To put it simply, this game was abandoned, not just once, not just twice, but THREE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIMES. I genuinely do not know how that happens. I do not. The entire game was refurbished from its original product and somehow it became worse than the original product. I'm baffled. The original version of this game was a lot more monotonous but you know at least it didn't have some gamebreaking bug preventing you from ever beating it. Yes, this game has a bug, that will straight up stop you from beating it. On the last level too. You get a code from a note that you need to enter to reveal a bomb, and guess what? if you died on the last stage, or didn't read it from the previous stage at all? you never get it. Game becomes unbeatable unless someone outright tells you it. Unfortunately it appears to have been abandoned, so it will never be fixed. The achievements aren't even changed from the original, some of them probably aren't even achievable anymore. Honestly, if you want a good bomb defusal game, get a friend and go play KTANE, it has a very big community and a lot of community content.
Sapper – Defuse The Bomb Simulator, developed by Live Motion Games and published by WIG Publishing, is a tense and methodical first-person simulation experience that places players in the role of a bomb disposal expert. It attempts to recreate the mental pressure, focus, and precision required to perform one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Rather than relying on action or spectacle, the game aims to build its suspense through silence, realism, and the constant threat of failure. Each mission begins simply enough—you arrive at a scene, survey the environment, and identify the presence of a possible explosive—but beneath this calm lies a constant sense of dread. The ticking of timers, the whirring of devices, and the faint hum of tension in the air serve as reminders that every move you make could be your last. The gameplay is structured around a loop of exploration, investigation, and careful execution. Players must first locate hidden explosives using tools such as metal detectors and signal scanners. Once a bomb is found, the task becomes one of analyzing the device, identifying its components, and determining the correct procedure for defusal. Each scenario introduces variations—some bombs are placed in tight, dimly lit environments, others in open spaces with multiple hazards. Occasionally, players must hack control panels or bypass locks to access critical areas, adding layers of complexity to what might otherwise be a simple process. The game’s greatest strength lies in these moments of preparation and hesitation, when you’re weighing your options and fighting the urge to rush. The time pressure amplifies the tension, forcing you to balance caution with urgency as seconds tick away. Sapper’s visual design, while modest, successfully captures the gritty realism of its subject matter. The environments—industrial sites, apartments, abandoned warehouses—are detailed enough to create a believable sense of place without overwhelming the player. Lighting plays a significant role in establishing atmosphere; flickering bulbs, shadowy corridors, and dim emergency lights add to the feeling of unease. The bomb models themselves are intricate, with wires, circuits, and switches that invite careful inspection. Sound design is equally important to the experience. The subtle clinks of metal tools, the hum of electrical current, and the ominous beeping of timers work together to immerse the player in the scenario. There’s little to no background music, which allows the sound of the environment and the bomb itself to dominate, reinforcing the realism and tension that define the experience. However, for all its potential, Sapper – Defuse The Bomb Simulator suffers from limitations that prevent it from fully realizing its premise. The biggest issue is its short runtime—most players can complete the available missions within just a few hours. Once you’ve learned the mechanics and patterns of the bombs, the challenge becomes more predictable, and the replay value diminishes quickly. The game lacks a progression system or randomized elements that could keep missions feeling fresh. While the tools and defusal processes are satisfying at first, they don’t evolve enough to sustain long-term engagement. Bugs and rough edges further detract from immersion, from occasional graphical glitches to clunky movement. These issues don’t destroy the experience but serve as reminders that this is a small-scale simulation rather than a deeply polished professional training tool. Despite its technical shortcomings, Sapper succeeds in creating genuine moments of suspense and concentration. When you’re hunched over a digital explosive, trying to decide which wire to cut first, the game captures a primal feeling of anxiety that few simulators achieve. The simplicity of the interface works to its advantage here—it keeps the focus on the act of defusal rather than on unnecessary distractions. The pacing also lends itself to short, intense play sessions rather than long marathons. Each mission feels like a self-contained puzzle, with success hinging entirely on your ability to stay calm under pressure. The sense of relief after successfully disarming a bomb is palpable, and the brief silence that follows feels almost triumphant. It’s in these fleeting moments that the game achieves its purpose, making you appreciate the precision and courage of real-life bomb technicians. Sapper – Defuse The Bomb Simulator is best understood as a compact experiment in tension rather than a fully realized simulator. It offers a rare perspective within the genre, one that prioritizes psychological pressure over technical depth. For players seeking a short but intense experience that captures the nerves and concentration of bomb disposal, it delivers a solid few hours of immersion. However, those looking for a longer campaign, advanced mechanics, or high production value will likely find it lacking. Still, the game deserves recognition for attempting something different in a landscape filled with more conventional simulation titles. It may not be flawless, but its ability to make players hold their breath as they reach for the next wire speaks to the strength of its core concept—a quiet, perilous dance with disaster that never quite lets you relax. Rating: 5/10
I was really looking forward to the game but now that i played it its really annoying. I die even though i did exactly what i was told and the whole parcour thing is pretty annoying. I liked the minigames before, in the demo i think it was, way more i never had a problem with them. I wasnt able to do anything at the start after the customization and had to force quit the game through steam. Then I had to find the pipe bomb in the tutorial which wasnt shown through the vision and i wasnt able to disarm it due to the game constantly telling me im doing something wrong. After i went to the menu and back it worked at the first try. I stopped after constantly dying in the forest on top of the tower, because it constanly said i died even though i did as i was told before. Not to mention the pipe bomb minigame in the campaign was different and worked different than in the tutorial. In this state its sadly unplayable. I will refund it due to that. I can really not recommend this game in this state
