I'm studying in biotechnology and I LOVE this game. I like the diversity of the tasks and that we have to learn about some virus before doing the PCR. I will play until I have done all the missions.
The idea is innovative. However, the material is unreadable. Every item they tell you to zoom in on is blurred and unclear. That issue needs to be fixed, otherwise clues in this game are not even useful. Without a science background I would've been so lost.
As a biomedical student with limited Lab access, this game is absolutely brilliant! Granted its a bit janky, but its free and a really good reference tool for budding scientists. Really commend the devs for providing this free resource. There needs to be more games/simulators like this!
I’m convinced this is Half-Life 3
as an educational game, it fails in many aspects. as a REAL-LIFE game, it fails even more. how did this even get approved?
Small game, but surprisingly good. I was expecting yet another pseudo-scientific puzzle, but wanted to check anyway to make sure. And I am very glad I did! Turns out, this is a nice simulation of a wet lab, with protocols very close to realistic. Unfortunately, it only has 4 protocols: Reverse Transcription, PCR, DNA extraction and Master Mixes for PCR (this one you don't even use in practice). As I mentioned, the game is quite small. But the experience I got was quite good, you need to be cautious about keeping gloves sterile, you need to set up tubes, columns, centrifuges, PCR machines.. And if you do something wrong, you need to start over! So you need to be VERY careful, just as you do in the wet lab! Therefore, I recommend this game, it's awesome. But now some bad things for good measure. The game is old, and it is running on UE3 on some ancient resolutions. Good thing that since it's UE3, command line arguments like "-WINDOWED -ResX=1600 -ResY=900" work! Occasionally I've hit some bugs like VirusDB not rendering properly, or that pesky Brad not giving me patient samples.. All those were fixed after several reloads and random talks to Director, thankfully.
Before I played Mission Biotech, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
